This is a very clever concept - not unthinkable for anyone familiar with organic chemistry and the carbon compounds that make up the entirety of it, but important nonetheless - major companies have no interest researching recycling methods , what's left for renewable organic chemistry, when obtaining oil (aka extorting or stealing it) from other countries is far cheaper. Kenya has serious issues with plastic waste, from what I know Europe dumps its waste there for a small change. The best solution for waste disposal is... turning the waste into a resource. Props to this guy for setting this up by himself - classic diesel engines can run on almost any liquid fuel, in fact the creator of the diesel engine - Rudolf Diesel - was originally designing one that can run on coal powder, however that stuff explodes easily and the man almost killed himself, after that he used vegetable oil to power his creation. Yes - the first working diesel engine was made to run on biodiesel, Rudolf Diesel didn't hide that and expressed it can help develop the poor countryside by being able to make your own fuel (he stated this in 1908, oil refining was in its infancy back then and gasoline was particularly expensive). The issues with cars from the last 25-30 years is thanks to various "ecological" standarts forced by the Western capital to remove the competition for its auto industry - diesel engines (gasoline too) have become less reliable even when using premium quality fuel, so now you also have to change your vehicle more often. If you have a diesel from the 80s or earlier this "homemade" fuel should work well enough considering the process this man uses to create it is still "immature" - a developed process would be quite similar to refining crude oil, in which one will separate the small percentage of lighter and heavier carbon compounds contained in the current fuel - it can be made to have literally the same contents as diesel you buy now from the gas station. Though in the current situation this approach can still be a game changer, we don't simply have a fuel crisis but a World War in motion - one could easily end up fueling military vehicles with this, as a global war will break naval trade routes and thus oil trade for a large part of the world, too bad such approach is still far from powering even a single tank a day. The guy should also invest into making diesel from coal, during WW2 the Germans did make gasoline from coal, so I expect this to be perfectly achievable.
