I LOVE how refreshing and honest and unapologetically Muslim you are! Like it’s so easy to condone or agree or even fall into this narrative but I love how you stand by your views as Muslim and promote the Islamic way of doing things. This is what we, the Muslim youth, need to hear, need to aspire to and it’s so inspirational! Well done on you guys for being such great role models.

As a rare perspective, my husband and I started off in a haram relationship. I was a white American Christian gone atheist using Tinder when I found my husband through Tinder. We went on a few dates and as the relationship grew, I started to do research on his middle eastern culture to learn and understand him and his family better and found Islam and converted a few months after our marriage. I got him back into praying and being more dedicated to god along with his mother and brother. I am by no means saying all haram relationships can turn good, but sometimes god works in mysterious ways. So overall, know yourself and know your partner. A good indicator is how you describe them: partner, boyfriend/girlfriend, lover, friend with benefits, etc.

To add to your perspective with my own similar story....
I met my husband at work and dated for like 4 years... Neither of us were interested in the next step until I found Islam for myself which kind of forced him to get back on the straight path. That really was the turning point...within a year of me converting I moved out (to not live in sin), we brought our parents into the mix to meet each other, and got married. Marriage wasn't part of the initial plan but once you kind of stop fighting the "right thing" the right things tend to just fall in place!
Alhamdulillah for everything! Wishing everyone well!

I had a very similar experience! Grew up in an Italian Catholic household (going to Catholic school and everything) and met my now husband out one night with my girlfriends. Grew to understand more about Islam while we dated and converted right before we decided to get married. And every day we each grow in our faith, as I learn so does he and it has only brought us closer. So yes God does work in mysterious ways!!

As a christian I really appreciate this video. I live in the Netherlands and unfortunately sexual immorality has become totally normal in this society. And it makes it even harder for people who want to obey God and live a righteous life to find a partner who has the same values. Like Jasmine, i saw how their experiences went and how heartbroken some of them were and it is enough for me to avoid those type of relationships. It really depends on your temper i guess, some people need to live to experience (and it is life) to learn and it’s completely normal as humans to make mistakes. As a woman around your age, I can testify that dating is a complete waste of time. Jasmine and Dawoud, this was such a great video and much needed discussion! I absolutely agree that these temptations are difficult to curb (most of us have experienced these things) and having these conversations, from the perspective of big bro/big sis (and without judgment, in a proper islamic manner), will help our youth immensely. I think both of your experiences are valid, as I was someone who not only learned from my own experiences (when younger and now searching for a spouse), but also from others' experiences as well (red flags to look for, types of behaviors to avoid, etc.). I think a mix of both experiences is valuable, but best to avoid things before they get deeper (great point in the vid!). Kudos to you Jasmine for knowing what you wanted! Made me reflect on past experiences and how I am dealing with relationships now. Loved this video, was so well thought out and good points!

Thank you for this video! Honestly needed it, sometimes I feel tired of seeing everyone being in haram relationships and I just want to give it all up and think "damn, if they all go to Heaven doing all of that, why couldn't I?" but watching your videos reminds me of what is truly right, so thank you for that:)

Also, about learning from your friends to not make the same mistakes, there's soo much content online, books to help you and prepare you for that serious halal relationship, like just look for advice on marriage on reddit lol. If they're open to talk about it, or just by observing them you can learn a lot from your parents' relationship. However, of course, you'll still be faced with your own set of challenges in your marriage, you'll fail, say things that will hurt the other but you'll learn along the way. You just need to be patient and understanding with each other, communicate honestly and just leave the rest to Allah! Love you guys :), May Allah bless you

You guys sound like my husband and I. I matured earlier and learnt from the mistakes of others around me. Whereas my husband made a few mistakes along the way and then found me. We were each others first and only relationship. It's definitely better to avoid harm things and stick to doing things in a halal way. Alhamduillah we've been married for 5 years now.

I am 36 and I have avoided zina as much as I could so far. After a while u get used to it. Temptations are always there and im not a saint but I have managed to avoid it. I want it to be with the one love of my life. She will come whenever she does. Allah tests each of us in different ways. But u reach to a higher level of serenity and conciousness that you are always aware of God's presence.
