Most people don't realize how important the music is to the overall feel, and the resulting success of the movie. The musical score of this one tied it all together in a beautiful Christmas package.
Well I can see her reasoning. I loved this film as a kid but as an adult i didn't see the movie the same way. Think all the crappy sequels and knock off versions just made me not interested to watch it. Maybe when i have kids I'll show them this but other then that it's not my favorite holiday film. Long kiss good knight kinda takes that spot.
New Trier West was used as a community center at the time of Home Alone. It has since reopened as a freshman only campus with about 1,000 students in the 6 buildings. Last year, New Trier played all their basketball games on the floor where the movie was shot. There is one scene in Uncle Buck (the car backfire) that was shot at New Trier West campus, and likewise only one scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off when Sloan is called out of class because "your grandmother passed." Breakfast Club was named and based on New Trier detentions, based on a famous radio show on the ABC radio network, because they were held in the morning before school began. Breakfast Club though, was shot at another closed down school--the former Maine North.
I think you screwed up in your video when you talked about that they needed to lower the budget I think you meant to say 13.5 million but you said 3.5 million which is super low and definitely not correct LOL I love the video though!
There was absolutely too much moving around. Too many locations. They could have used a real house for the flood and interior scene. John Hughes had more friends than he knew. He ignored a lot of them and their ideas. Everyone did well in the end, nevertheless.
They couldn't fit the film equipment in the Home Alone house, and so they built the set at New Trier West for the house interior scenes, and obviously made sense to use the swimming pool for the flood scene set.
Sorry. I work for New Trier and graduated from New Trier West. There are all kinds of film locations, from many films, in the township and not just John Hughes. Clint Eastwood and Robert Redford also had some scenes in the communities.
A small part of my life is now ruined knowing that the interiors of the Home Alone and Uncle Buck houses were soundstages. I never even second guessed that they weren't real interiors.
i know i thought they were real houses and locations as well that speaks to how well they did the film. also the WB has got to be thinking why didn't we give them more of a budget look at how much money we lost or well you win some you lose some. this is one of my go too charismas movies every year. i love fuller becuse he always drinks soda and he wets the bed.
Home Alone was shot in the PE (F Building) of New Trier West HS. They couldn't fit the film equipment in the actual house, which is about 3 miles from the school where it was shot at.
I just just gonna say! The gurl who lived in the house, jus did an interview (few weeks ago) about the ppl looking for the perfect house to film and it was hers🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 there's NO WAY they used that school. ...🤨🤨
@@vminaj90 thank you so much for this information! I found the interview (Home Alone 30 Years on: Woman Who Grew Up in McCallister House Shares Memories). I had some questions, that bothered me. Like: how they found the house, who the owners were, were they some friends of Columbus/producers, what kind of attention to the house followed the movie premiere. I was surprised to find out that fans started to show on a place right off the bat - I thought that years passed after the internet revealed the location of the house. Speaking about the fake house, I think they used it to shoot some scenes. For example, there are stairs in the movie kitchen, but in real life there are no stairs there. And think about it. Would they risk burning the house while shooting the scene with a flamethrower? That was probably done in a fake house.
Guaranteed that Warner Bros executive that pulled the plug was SORRY AF after seeing those numbers. It hit theatres twice and is the cornerstone for Christmas movies every single year for the last 30 years.

I love Home Alone I think it is great. I am glad it was made.

That is a very straightforward message.
Whenever it becomes cold and december hits, you know it's time to watch this movie

I've seen Home Alone more times than any other movie by far, I watch it at Christmas time every year.
As a really cynical movie watcher, Home Alone is one of just a handful of movies I can see again and again. A perfect movie!
I love Home alone 1 and 2.
👌🏻❤🙏🏻
They are both very good.
Warner Bros must be gutted with themselves.
They also more than likely regret it too
