The Magsafe as in the wireless charger is compatible with all iPhone models that support wireless charging. But Magsafe as in the magneticall attachment (f.ex.: the wallet, and the cardholder) won't work since all other iPhone models do not have the magnet as shown in the video. Hope that was helpful;)
My concern with the Magsafe charger is if it will hold through non-magsafe phone cases. It seems like an annoying thing to have to worry about when it comes to buying cases but you still want to use magsafe. I’d assume magsafe would be as strong or stronger than the magnet in the Apple Watch charger especially if you’re going to be holding the phone while it’s charging.
I don’t know it doesn’t seem that thrilling yet to be that excited over it. Perhaps in some third-party innovative stuff comes out that actually utilize this to be really cool but as of right now I’m totally not impressed
Absolutely, I had medical concerns of every kind when they mentioned the magnet. Is it even healthy to have a magnet in your pocket 8 10 12 hours a day? Just curious, I’m not a doctor and don’t play one on TV
The little leather wallet accessory is $60! How?? I’ve used cheap Amazon wallet cases for years, so I’m super pumped to actually get an apple branded one and to be able to remove it whenever I want...... but that’s a crazy price for a tiny piece of leather and a magnet.
They say it’s magnetically shielded, so it doesn’t blank your cards. Does that mean every wallet case if they’re not shielded will now blank your cards from the MagSafe magnets?
@@246astralbue I don't think the laws of physics even allow you to shield a magnetic force. So... I think it's just expensive cause it's Apple. Might be worth it for the convenience though.
Only you.. I was shocked at how much had changed, especially since this past year I’ve been focusing on politics and no longer really focusing on tech, but im getting back into tech news since there’s so many releases now
My first thought was the end of the battery cases. Now apple can make a pleasing and nice shaped external battery that simply mag attaches to the back of the phone. Think of the implications there. Now you can have the slime phone while out and about, see the power going down, slap on a battery extender and keep going. I use my phone for work and personal life and I have the battery case for the 11 pro max. Sometimes I do not want the bulk and take the phone out. then when the battery is low I have to throw it back in. This would be a much classier solution. I think this also takes a step closer to no ports on phone.
Unpopular opinion, but I actually prefer the bulk of a battery case. A 6" or larger phone that's only a quarter inch thick is unwieldy with large hands. If my phone is that tall and wide, I need more to grab onto.
Could I use the MagSafe charger as a magnetic charger/mount, and attach it to the dash or vent on my car? and do you think the car has enough juice to power it. I’m not really interested in the fast charge.
I’m scared of MagSafe... it means for sure a port less iPhone is here...2022 when this design reaches three iterations. Removing the port is extremely anti-consumer. Some of us just like having the option of wired charging or wired data transfer.
Yeah... like some ppl were angry because they like buttons more than touch screen back in 2007. I remember lots of people were calling iphone anti consumer. Oh shit.. nobody uses buttons anymore...
NOT SO EXCITED!! We've been clamoring for WIRELESS charging for years!!! I've had wireless charging for my toothbrush for...a decade or more!!! WIRELESS is NOT MAGSafe!! It's a whole other Apple patented thing! MAGSafe was an Apple proprietary magnetically connected charging "plug" for Mac laptops that connected the power cord to the laptop!! The magnet allowed for the violent separation of the power cord from the laptop preventing damage to the computer as a result of someone/thing running Ito the power cord!!!! Look it up!! it was introduced in 2006!!! This is a different animal! it's not a plug but wireless charging!!! The irony here may be, that this ingenious plug was discontinued so that they could use the term for this idea instead!! If that's the reason it's a pretty CRAPPY one. 3rd party "Magsafe" plugs took Apple's place but of course are not as good as the original!! This is just another thing that would have Steve going apeshit!!! This last presentation was full of ridiculous superlatives for the ordinary, Magsafe included!! I'm left incredulous at the loss of direction. Get it together Apple!!!
sorry if this is a dumb question but i am not that good with phones... i have a iPhone 11 and get a 12 soon.. already get for my birthday a magsafe car charger and magnetic holder.. now at this moment my iphone 11 is charge through the USB A (from the car) and also connect to Apple Carplay with the same cable. My question is can i charge the iPhone 12 with the 15 watt charger/holder and then also put the lighting cable in the phone for Carplay connection? In my mind that's dubble up and don't know if this will damage the phone? I need Carplay... Thanks everybody for helping ...!
No, for iPhone, standard USB-A Lightning cable is 12W (max, typically 5W), USB-C Lightning is 20W, Qi wireless is 7.5W, MagSafe 15W. Apple could do more than 20W but not necessary or necessarily safe on a device as small as iPhone.
Except mag-connectors do a better job for less weight and better efficiency. First, mag-connectors retain an electrical connection, so retain full data transmission rates. Second, mag-connectors retain electrical connection, so full power transfer at 100% efficiency is likewise retained. Third, even third-party mag-connectors weigh less than Apples giant "rings" full of coils and magnets. For example, a USB-c mag-connector could transfer full-spec 100-Watt power, while simultaneously transferring data at full-spec 10-Gbps. This new kludge will never hope to come close.
Absolutely nuts..Nothing to do with how many MagSafe chargers they will sell.We all mostly have a charger. Not a MagSafe.I loved Apple at one time but they are now treating some people like fools.Sorry I don’t care if I use a charger or my wireless charger so I will now buy another Samsung phone at least they have the latest Tec in their phones.Apple should do away with electricity in their $50 Billion HO.This MagSafe still needs a charger to plug it into, apart from the fact it sticks to your phone what’s the difference from a wireless charger. The MagSafe charges only at 15/watts.Yet another bit of manipulation from Apple. You now get no service from an Apple store so goodbye Apple from me.I’m not a Apple hater or a Samsung lover but they do try to be innovative.I’m-just a consumer that will not be brainwashed.
All brands need to charge quicker. Apps, lot of which are not frivolous...maybe grocery, security, mail etc...so many aps is draining batteries too quickly
apple and iphones have become boring. it's why Samsung has taken over the top spot in phone sales the past 3 years. they innovate and iPhone continues to put out the same product with just small improvements like 15 w charging. why would anyone even want that when I can already charge my galaxy phone at 45w charging
How is it a new standard and new technology???Isnt it just a magnets around the same Charging standard available out there. Yes you can say that Accessories like MagSafe charger is their proprietary as it provides 15W charging but we all know that that’s nothing new for wireless chargers as some for android can do faster than that. Some company on Amazon was already providing case with round magnet ring inbuilt so you can connect their car charger so nothing new.
They always only show in ads connecting this magnetic charger to iPhone but never show disconnecting it. Do you have to lift the thing and pull them apart just to pick the phone up and go? ...sounds very annoying compared to using a non-magnetic Qi charger that you can quickly grab and use without any hassle...
New technology ? First off you just added weight to a mobile device . Thus in the future Apple will reduce the capacity of the batteries in the phone cause Apple consumer are willing to spend more to buy an external battery . So basically Apple consumers will spend more for less .

The Magsafe as in the wireless charger is compatible with all iPhone models that support wireless charging. But Magsafe as in the magneticall attachment (f.ex.: the wallet, and the cardholder) won't work since all other iPhone models do not have the magnet as shown in the video.

MagSafe third-party knockoffs will flood the market and be on the streets all over Asia in no time.

Absolutely, I had medical concerns of every kind when they mentioned the magnet. Is it even healthy to have a magnet in your pocket 8 10 12 hours a day? Just curious, I’m not a doctor and don’t play one on TV
Hopefully MagSafe won’t rip ur iPhone back if u try to remove it
The little leather wallet accessory is $60!

Brian: These phones were not meant for you. Carry on.
MagSafe is not safe
I’m not really interested in the fast charge.
no can enough
I’m scared of MagSafe... it means for sure a port less iPhone is here...2022 when this design reaches three iterations. Removing the port is extremely anti-consumer. Some of us just like having the option of wired charging or wired data transfer.
Yeah... like some ppl were angry because they like buttons more than touch screen back in 2007. I remember lots of people were calling iphone anti consumer. Oh shit.. nobody uses buttons anymore...
Haven’t used wired charging since iphone x came out. I like no port cause it would make it more waterproof / dustproof

15 Watt wireless charging and Apple fans go crazy ... Surprised Android Boys : "What Apple provides just 15Watt wireless charging in 2021"

In my mind that's dubble up and don't know if this will damage the phone? I need Carplay... Thanks everybody for helping ...!
So a lightning cable is 2.5 watt, standard wireless 7.5, MagSafe 15, USB type-C 100 watt....
@@AppleInsider will the iphone 12 pro max usb-c lighting will be fast charging reply back plsn
I wonder if MagSafe could be used for audio as well, so eliminating the port.

apple and iphones have become boring. it's why Samsung has taken over the top spot in phone sales the past 3 years. they innovate and iPhone continues to put out the same product with just small improvements like 15 w charging. why would anyone even want that when I can already charge my galaxy phone at 45w charging
but if I already have fast charger of 20W, why would I charge with Magsafe?
I like how the mini glove is magnetically attached to iphone.
