I really wish more people knew about where rock and roll came from and where it's been.
" Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it."
....in the case of the NY Dolls,
....repeating history would be a huge blessing for the soon-to-be lost art of Rock and Roll.

    God Bless You......
..for carrying the message and the(mostly) true story of one of rocks greatest legends.
The mere fact that you told their story, makes you a good man and, in my book,
    ....a fucking Hero !
    Thank You !! 💋✌️💝🎼🏴‍☠️

Love them. Ahead of their time!! Disgracefully ignored by the Rock Hall. Thanks for watching and your thoughtful comments

Greatest & most imp band to ever come out of NY. Influenced EVERYONE who followed. Glad I saw them a few x at their famous Mercer Arts Center residency. I love the Dolls! They are underappreciated for their contributions. Glad you made this podcast ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉

Thank you so much Denise!!! I love them also. Never forget singing them live and David in between songs said “what do you think of the new German Pope?” So random. Appreciate you. Subscribe to my channel if you like. Thanks

You did a great job! I have a couple corrections but you did really capture the Dolls.
I can tell you were worried you were mispronouncing Murcia - you got it! Though he didn’t die of overdose, he was drowned. He had gotten blackout drunk and two groupies thought he was ODing and to revive him they poured coffee down his throat effectively water boarding him.
I also wouldn’t credit the commie aesthetic as the downfall of the band, 3 of the 5 were hopeless addicts and they faught endlessly. The end of the band was when Arthur Kane, Jerry Nolan, and Johnny Thunders was all sent to rehab and when they came back they couldn’t stand the others. They went their separate ways, to no fault of McLaren.
This also wasn’t an untruth, but you missed how much success Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers had in England. One person described it that they hadn’t seen fanaticism to that level since Beatlemania. The Heartbreakers were a sensation and they passed just after that wave of fame.
They didn’t split up between 2004 and 2011, they took a few months off after Arthur’s passing then returned January 9th 2005 and didn’t split or take a break till 2011.
RIP Billy Murcia, Johnny Thunders, Jerry Nolan, Arthur Killer Kane and ZK”L Sylvain Sylvain
