The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

As a Chicagoan who is a fan of the Chicago Bulls, I feel like our city and it’s teams are cursed.
We may have won a few times in the past at each sport, but when our teams win a championship, the GMs do everything in their power to dismantle that winning team and make very questionable decisions that result in a long season of being either a mid-tier team or a team under 500.
We only had a few great miracles here in Chicago, one of the greatest miracles was Michael Jordan and his determination to win, that special killer instinct that it takes to win.
The next miracles Chicago got blessed with was both Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, and the fact that both of them ended up playing on the same team, the Chicago Blackhawks.
Those two men became the leaders of the Blackhawks and in time they gave Chicago the Stanley Cup 3 times in a span of 5 years.
I always say that the LA Lakers are the most luckily blessed sports franchises in history because of all the legendary miracle players that they have produced throughout the decades and years.
They had Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, James Worthy, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and now Anthony Davis.
(I don’t count Lebron James because he’s basically a journeyman with no loyalty to any team or city in my opinion).
The Chicago Bulls only were blessed miraculously with Michael Jordan, and he’s not just any type of superstar player either, he became bigger than basketball, he’s a megastar that created a brand that will last forever.
After MJ the Chicago Bulls never developed another blessed superstar, and the closest we came to getting another great basketball player was Derrick Rose, he was doing so damn good when he first started playing with the Bulls, but sadly that injury he suffered really destroyed everything that made Rose the great player that he was.
Now, Derrick Rose is far from the great basketball player that he once was before that injury.
He’s not even on the Bulls team anymore either, and the current day Chicago Bulls team is a team of basketball players that nobody even knows the names of, and could not remember those names after first hearing them either.

Great video and I won’t deny that those first three championship. Shaquille O’Neal deserve the finals MVP every time but especially the last two finals they did together. It was really a Superman and Batman thing. The first one I can see it being a Batman and Robin, but after that Kobe was much more valuable to that team than any “Robin “ has been. But thank you so much for this video. It seems like ESPN and Fox Sports are doing everything they can ruin Kobe’s legacy, which if you would’ve told me the Kobe disrespect would get worse after he died there’s no way I would’ve believed it.
Kobe Bryant is my favorite basketball player, my favorite athlete ever but I can’t make the argument that he’s the GOAT. I’d love to be able to sit here and honestly say he was the greatest ever but it’s Michael Jordan who is the greatest ever.
You make fantastic videos, and I love your channel, thank you for the time and effort you put in because I know it’s not easy. Keep up the great work and thank you for being an honest voice in sports media because we’re not getting it from the nationwide sports media any more.

One of my favorite favorite Kobe moment during that 2002 wcf is game 7 I believe Kobe picked up his 5th personal foul early in the 4th quarter and went on to dominate the rest of the game and overtime without fouling out and the Lakers win, had he picked up his 6th foul the Lakers lose that game but he played impeccable defense as much as that series is considered the most controversial series ever nobody ever mentions of questions this moment because Kobe played just that great there was nothing to swing in their favor …he knew the stakes and then put on an all time performance
I think thats the moment for 12 year old me Kobe became a personal icon to me, it was his team from that point on lol
Also I remember he caught food poisoning from ordering food in Sacramento the night before a playoff game that same series and everybody just shrugged it off they intentionally tried to harm Kobe over a playoff game and it’s why I never felt sorry or gave much credence to the “refs fixing the conference finals” topic lol David Stern probably decided at that moment the Lakers were going to win the series

What people dont understand from kobes early seasons (NBA norm to be honest) is that they were nudered due to no precedent to start kids out of high school in the NBA. If Kobe came outta high school in THIS era, he would've exploded in this open court fast paced-no defense era. So the numbers look average from 96-99. When in reality and in real time, everyone knew this kid was gonna be special, Next MJ type of special. But all of this gets lost throughout the years, and we are stuck with no weight and false narratives that social media and some real media love to push.
Plus, Shaq was the man in those years, Kobe willingly took a Robin "backseat" to win championships. Yet, people like to say he was "selfish" . one of many wrong narratives

@Johnny_Arnett We have to give props to DOMINQUE WILKINS for his comeback from Achilles tendon injury. He defied the odds and disproved the critics, although inured in his early 30's, with HAWKS wanting to secretly trade him, Wilkins put up BETTER overall stats AFTER his career ending injury, Usually Achilles tendon destroys a players career, and if they recover they are NOT half the caliber they were before. Dominique Wilkins has a documentary somewhere...showcasing his ordeal and what he went through to get himself in shape...not just to compete at pro level, but to utterly DOMINATE!

I think shaq carried us for the 1st 1. not the other 2004 was due to injuries as well as team chemistry problems. both Kobe and shaq plus players on the pistons said they were selling each other out. they were basically hanging each other out to dry. the year he asked for a trade, the team did try to trade him. he rejected the trade to the bulls and pistons, the bulls because he couldn't keep Lou Deng there. Kobe my 2nd fave player of all time behind magic. I'm a life long laker fan also. I like most of this video. Kobe is the 2nd greatest player ever, next to mike. I don't like lebron in laker land. he doesn't have our pedigreee. but Kobe should have at least 3 mvps. they have disrespected Kobe throughout his career. not right

Imagine if that was LeBron James, with any of his NBA championship teams and the referee was publicly known for cheating for his team. But nobody brings this up. honestly that should be an Asterix for the Lakers championship. Another thing that gets me about people oh NBA players back then were loyal to their teams. There’s so many players back in the 80s 90s and 2000s who wanted to play with each other but that notion that they were loyal to their team are false. They just didn’t have the creative power like today’s athlete.

    • @ignoblesavage5559

Um, major difference btwn Kobe & LBJ & the refs. Even IF the refs helped give game 6 of the 02 WCF, lebron has been the recipient of SUPER-SWEET officiating from SO MANY refs.
Never in my life of 54 years have i seen any player draw more fouls called on his opponents' noses (fouling LBJ's elbow), and only Shaq got away with as many charges as lebron. I take NOTHING away from his game... but he has never needed all that help from refs. He still gets it, though. It's so bad that when they make the RIGHT calls (unbiased) he loses his mind. Do they miss calls he should get? Yes, occasionally. Every player who has ever played has experienced it. But LBJ has had LOVE from the refs his enture career but that rookie year. And I'm surprised they made him earn his calls THAT year.

    Hi Jonny, awesome compilation!
Kobe was incredible and I remember each of these videos. They're great. On a related note, I remember being amazed by Kobe. I saw him making shots over two guys (and even three guys once) and how unstoppable he was. He's a legend.
I'm not a fan of how the league canceled the Chris Paul trade either. It's an awful decision. Like you, I didn't see any good reason for it.
I agree that he would have been able to play fewer minutes and not push his body as much if CP3 was on the team. The trade cancellation definitely had a lot of major consequences.
On a brighter note, I like your points about the games in which Kobe could've scored at least 81. I can definitely see him scoring 81 in any of the games you mentioned.
Great points also about the debate over whether Shaq carried Kobe or not. I've long seen them as a superstar duo and didn't see either one as carrying the other (and remember how unstoppable they were). With that said, I do also agree that Shaq was the better player at the time.
Prior to watching your comparison of Kobe and MJ sometime ago, I didn't know about the difference in hand sizes and vertical leaps and skills with their left hand). It's incredible how Kobe was able to play with just 4 hours of sleep a night. Also amazing how he was able to play through so much pain. I remember they (Kobe & MJ) both had the same trainer too (Tim Grover). Great comparison of both players
    Great video.
Have a nice weekend! Take care, Jonny.

Jokic won the MVP aas the 6th seed, Westbrook won as 6th seed... They both carried bad teams to playoffs. They did similar thing to Kobe in 2006, and Kobe had even crazier season. On the other hand Dirk should've been over Nash. Mavs were no4 seed because of dumb division seeding rules, while Mavs won 60 games with Dirk averaging near 27 ppg on near 50/40/90 splits... They should' ve been no 2 seed with todays seeding by tofays standards... Win more, get higher seed.

  • @donjuanismo
    @donjuanismo 3 місяці тому

About MVP voting and meaning? They should change it to MOST SUCCESFUL PLAYER, or give the awards to the truly most VALUABLE PLAYER! The league was BIASED AGAINST Kobe, they wanted to prop up Lebron, by downplaying, discrediting, and non-awarding Kobe. NBA were so stupid, they didn't need a new face of NBA, in Lebron, they already had the new face of the NBA, Kobe Bryant! Alas, the league orchestrators did NOT want Kobe facing Lebron in the finals, because this would TARNISH Lebron's reputation, because we know what the outcome would be. If Kobe beat James in finals, then Lebron would be OUT of the GOAT conversation, because he would take back seat behind and below Kobe. This thy could NOT allow, because they planned to prop up James as the GAOT, by comparing him to MJ.

So because Kobe scored 38 point in a loss he deserves FMVP!? I love how you cherry picked Kobe's best game in that finals to try and prove your point. The fact is Gasol flat out out played Kobe in that finals and should of won FMVP. Gasol was more consistent both offensively and defensively. Just for a little more perspective on Gasol's impact, he led that team in win shares in the finals and Kobe averaged 3.9 assists a game and Gasol averaged 3.7. Even though Kobe completely dominated the ball in that series Gasol had one less assist over the entire finals. And yes, Kobe averaged 10 more points a game, but that's because Kobe took 70+ more shots over the series. And yes, it was a defensive series and everybody shot poorly but Kobe still shot worse than Gasol.

    • @EnochAlalade
      @EnochAlalade 3 місяці тому

You are wrong on all of those points 1. Kobe was consistently the number 1 on that team he guarded their top scorers and contained them 2. Yes Kobe dominated the ball but you do not average 18.6 ppg in a series with a ball dominant guard (like Russ) 3. It is not like gasoline shot 50+ percent from the field also Kobe is more inefficient because he shot more perimeter shots (example: Steph is less efficient than LeBron) gausol, over the course of the series shot about 45% from the field

It's not about if Shaq carried Kobe. He didn't. But the Lakers don't win 1 title with Kobe being the main weapon and Shaq being the 2nd option.
Kobe most definitely was not on board a lot when asked to tone down his arsenal. Shaq was not only very unmotivated when not involved, but also the most unstoppable force in the league.. Kobe was not Kobe yet... he had talent & insane moments of just taking over, but also moments of very bad decisions & forced shots.
Statistics don't tell the story... they needed each other to win. but if Shaqs taking a back role to Kobe, that team falls apart. and usually did when Kobe decided fuck the brakes, it's all green light.
They won when Kobe picked his moments, when he lifted Shaq when was unable, and vice versa.
Shaq didnt carry Kobe, but they needed b each other to win. Just like Mike & Scottie..
Shaq is the man on that team. and Kobe & Lakers was best when he played in the team scheme, through Shaq down low
