    How about an update regarding how the LSD has worked and held up over the last two years? Have any problems developed? Any downsides to the install over time? Any adverse effects on the Sprinter drive train, brakes, electronics etc.? No one is going to shell out the big bucks for the LSD and install without some longer term data on performance and reliability.

      I’ve had the unit installed on my van for 2+ years with no issues. I did change the diff fluid recently just to be sure.

    Great explanation as to why a limited slip by OHV would be a huge upgrade to the possibilities of terrain! I'm looking forward to more updates about your experience with it, it would be cool to see you go out with another van with similar tires on your rig to compare. Subscribed.

    Thanks for the info. Any experience as of yet if this upgrade is compatible with adding either an air or electric locker system? Thanks

    Great video! How would you compare this upgrade to the locking rear diff by agile off-road? Would consider testing and comparing the two different types?

    Now that you've been using this for a year or so, how does the LSD work with all of the Sprinter's built in traction electronics? How does it perform while in 4wd High and Low?

    Thanks for highlighting the new product. A few things, would have been helpful is you drove the same terrain before and after the limited slip. Also, did you air down? If not would highly recommend as that will be extremely helpful in sand especially.

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks- we purposely did not air down to test the system with the normal driving setup. Many people do not have onboard air compressors.

    Great video as always! Would definitely want this limited-slip differential or diff lock on my van.

      @@VanLand Would this upgrade void the Mfg warranty or is it "sanctioned" by Mercedes?

    Great video, can you clarify, I thought the sprinter is more off an awd since there is no center locking differential

      We will definitely be reviewing the new Sprinter in the near future so stay tuned! As of right now, I don't have a strong opinion until we are able to test it.

    I know this is off topic from your video but I figured you might know the answer to my question based on the van conversions you do. I have a Subaru Crosstrek and an ebike. I need to buyer an inverter (DC to AC) so when I'm on a road trip I can charge my ebike battery in the car. I've seen a few different inverters with various wattage. Would a 300 watt inverter be enough to charge a 700WH ebike battery or should I get a 750 watt inverter? Thank you in advance for taking the time to read and answer my question. Bob T.

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  2 роки тому

      The charger should tell you how many watts are required to power it. You'll need an inverter that can generate that much power continuously.

      @@VanLand Thank you for your reply. I will check the charger again but I didn't see anything initially stating how many watts it would need. Thanks again. I love your watching your van builds. My favorite was the Galapagos green Sprinter.

    Hello, I'm from New Zealand, do you havee any agents in New Zealand that sell and install your product please? I own a Sprinter 516 light truck with dual wheels on the rear axle. The vehicle is 2 wheel drive. Please provide any imformation that you can to me please. Johnny

      There are no conversions for the DRW variant as it uses other internals.

    That’s not soft dry sand in my opinion looks compact and riddled with grass roots. Would be good to see it on a really dry lose sand beach

    To test limited slip differentials in a situation where there is equal grip left to right does not make any sense.
    Compare it in situations where there are significant differences in grip on the wheels...i.e. left tarmac right slippery grass, clay or snow.
    Every standard Sprinter would have been able to get started again on your chosen spot. Not a chance to see if the LSD helped the tiniest bit.

    hey good video, but 99.9% of sprinter owners need this as a hole in their head. how many people besides the few that make $100k /month or more will take their 100K plus huge van to a rubicon trail or similar to need this.these thinks will never be able to compete with jeeps, 4runners or like I got a 23 sprinter AWD more than capable stock. don't know the cost by if it's anywhere $5000 or more installed total waste of money. Having a $20k camera gear will not make better pictures than a old $1500 one it's more about ability, knowledge.

    • @VanLand
      @VanLand  Рік тому +1

      The limited slip differential is key for snow, sand and steep gravel terrain. It’s gotten me out and back to some amazing places with confidence. Totally worth the cost to make sure the van keeps moving forward baby!!!

      I have a RWD Standard Roof that I use as a camera gear hauler, and this is on my list since I've gotten stuck in 4" of packed gravel on the edge of my driveway while the van was empty. This isn't about taking on the Rubicon or taking on a designed from the ground up offroading 4X4, it's about having more traction in everyday situations. I one tire fire in the rain if I hit the pedal too hard. With an LSD, I would be putting power down to the same number of wheels as your AWD van (which only powers 2 wheels)
      Also, as a professional camera operator, I can tell you that the operator being equal, there's a world of difference in production value between $20k in camera gear and $1500.
      A LSD should be standard equipment. Now, $5k is one of the more expensive LSDs I've ever seen, but also, there's not another option.

      This isn’t about serious off roading. It’s about now getting stuck while camping on the millions of acres of public lands. It is hilariously easy to spin a sprinter wheel on wet grass or marbly loose gravel.
