Mary Tom Speer Reid passed away Sept. 16, 2014. She was truly a Great Lady. My heart is heavy. I loved her so much. She was like a Grand Mother to me. May God Bless her and Bless and Comfort her Family.

I just found out online that all of the original Speer Family have passed away, including Mary Tom, Ben, Faye, and Rosa Nell. So grateful for the Gaither Homecoming Videos that introduced me to their music when I was a newlywed 21 years ago. "The Speer Family: A Love Story" was one of my favorite Homecoming videos to watch. I will try to buy the DVD to replace it.

I would say they got tired, due to their advanced age and health issues. Later in the Homecoming, Jake is nowhere to be seen, and I'm guessing it was due to his advanced age and health issues, by then it had already gotten dark out and everything.
