I enjoy your trips to the antique shop and your presentation of your findings. Seems like they are giving you really reasonable prices on the great old silver coins. I also really like the collecting board you use to display the date runs. Fun to fill it in.
Well done, a great set of coins for the date runs. With the creases in the design on the William III, I am wondering if this was an attempt by a previous owner to turn it in to a love token? Maybe. It was big fad that started during William III's reign and carried on through to at least Anne's reign as a sign of affection between young lads and lasses. This was usually done with a six pence but I have also seen copper coins that have been bent and shaped into them. Hmmm. Very cool either way. I managed my first silver half crown metal detecting yesterday actually, off my local bay. 1834 William IV. So and so condition, great gap filler. My first William IV I am adding to the collection. The 19th century designs are beautiful with a lot going on. I especially love the mini St George and the dragon depictions at the bottom of the reverse. Here is to our fantastic coin collections.
You got some great deals there. It pays to build a relationship with a dealer as they'll look after you. Despite the crease, the William III coin is a beauty
Enjoy watching your videos, if you want to buy some of my coins let me know. The lion in the crest of William III is the one of Nassau, not Orange. Orange has a horn in it's crest no lion 🙂
I was looking for my 1901 half crown the other day to finish another date run of half crowns, I posted them up on the end of my last gardening video...That 1696 William 3rd half crown is worth a hell of a lot more than you paid for it...There selling form $70 to £140.00 in that condition and there a lot worse than yours
You are going to get addicted to collecting bags full of silver three pence bits I started out just buying the odd one here and there but now im adding a minimum of 50 coins per month but normally 100-200.
I have three 1905 half crowns but i bough mine 30 years ago for $50 each, I finish another date run of half crowns last week and I posted them up on the end of my last gardening video..

Yes it is very tempting to get more and more
You wont get a 1905 half crown unless you want to spend 500 quid on a worn one 😢
