  • This is the "Making Coconut Milk Demo" segment from my hi-8 recording and experience of the first "Samoan Comedian" in the summer of 1995 at the Polynesian Cultural Center located in Laie, Oahu, Hawaii.
For more information on Chief Sielu and his remarkable story, look for him on Wikipedia. I should also add that he starred in a "short" 20 minute movie aptly entitled "Chief" that was shown at the Sundance festival and is now available on a popular streaming service that rhymes with "dime."

after watching a few chiefs doing this routine, chief Sielu is still the best one. his english was the best out of the other chiefs. and if he were to wear modern casual clothing and cover up his tribal tattoos, he'd looked like the average black/brown new yorkers....

Why are you reposting this video over and over since 1995?

Yeah.. First it was funny, second not bad and after I realise their jokes are all the same. Same speech they delivered

Seems some explanation is in order. Since I filmed this video in 1995, (10 years before the advent of UA-cam), I would often share this video (the long version) with family and friends, with extremely positive reactions. So I always knew it was great content. I finally decided to upload the video to UA-cam in January of 2022. A great deal of time was devoted to de-interlacing, upscaling and color correcting the footage. It didn't become popular until someone did a screen-grab of the footage from UA-cam (which included the close-captioning), chopped it up and posted it on TikTok. It then appeared on Facebook. I discovered this when my views suddenly skyrocketed. Part of the reason is that people wanted to see the other parts of the video, and to see it in better quality. The reason I'm posting my own "short" versions is one, to allow repeat viewers (of which there are many, check the comments) to go directly to the short they want to view or share, and two, counter the many "crappy quality" copies of my video that are still out there. So, no, I'm not posting this "over and over." There's the original long version and the individual segments. That's it. Hope that helps.

@@itsmehayato3100 which makes this the best one by far if you ask me. This guy has quality that goes beyond the script

@@LennartGiaccotto Exactly why I keep watching this. Kap did this too, but really, he was too cool for comedy, so that Ted Talk didn't stick until he did the fire dancing.
