What the NBA players who lost weight didn’t understand was that to maintain and grow weight, you need to eat more as a vegan but here’s the thing. When your eating vegan / plant based foods, your body digestive system is better and the foods you eat as a vegan / plant based your body can eat a lot more of before you get full. Plants and vegetables digest quicker and therefore you can eat more. Not only that, but your getting a lot more out of the meal than if you would a regular diet.
I've been on a vegan diet for just over 38 months now and I've noticed that not only do I feel better and have more energy, but I also recover noticeably quicker. Like I recover in literally HALF the time compared to when I was eating animal products. Also my skin has cleared up. I highly recommend a vegan/plant-based diet.
i went plant-based two months ago (still eat a couple spoons of yogurt nearly every day and maybe a couple times per month eggs but those are my only animal products) and have been able to sustain my conditioning better. 4 hour training sessions and feel like i can keep going after. would be toast after 2 hours a few months ago.
I live ab 20 minutes for dames house and my friends that worked at the nearby burgerville and five guys saw dame pullin up at least twice a week right in the middle of his vegan fad😤😤
no wonder Michael Porter started getting injured more, that meat diet will make your bones weaker and have you injured/fatigued/sore longer. Athletes are constantly using their bodies so their diet is extremely important.
A lot of my friends are vegan (more environment and moral reasons). I went vegan / vegetarian past year and I surf everyday - beginning was really hard (fatigue a lot faster than eating meat). But my mom had a triple bypass surgery and her doctors helped her out and my family and being vegan pretty much was a great solution and goal to having better health and preventing coronary diseases. My mom and fam can still have meat, just more healthy proteins like fish/chicken - and you shouldn’t have too much of it (like smaller portions Than what most thing is good enough). The doctors suggested way more veggies and fruits and less fridge/freezer stuff and fake meats (those have a lot of salt/sodium). And limit meat as much as possible (and absolutely no chips or packaged goods, as best as you can do) I lost a lot of weight so it made it easier for me to surf smaller and more performance boards, and paddle easier (obviously less weight to carry around). So that applies to normal people who want to feel lighter in other sports too. But the fatigue issue was a thing, but you just have to keep eating fruits and veggies and nuts throughout the day. You’ll probably lose some sprinting power (I do feel like meat gives you a better surge of immediate speed for sprinting movements - but over the long stretch of a whole game being more into vegetables will keep you in the game longer) Hopefully this makes it easier for anyone looking for a reasonable way to do it. Just make small changes here and there. Just trying to share a fair way to look at it all. Im 100% certain at the highest level of competition and pro athletics you do need some meat in your diet. But for us normal joes looking to stay healthy as we get older and get leaner and quicker in our athletics having more veggies and fruits and weaning off the meat is always going to be better for you. And that was actually the same message 30 years ago (and still is in the hospitals). Nothing new - doctors in your hospitals have been saying this forever but no one wants to hear it.
Can't speak to your specific diet obviously, but I'd like to point out some common resolvable pitfalls people sometimes have when trying a plant based diet. Energy problems are usually associated with not eating enough calories. This might happen because people take out animal products in their diet without replacing the calories with something else. For instance if you would normally have chicken, rice and asparagus but have now subtracted the chicken that leaves you with a calorie deficit which needs to be replaced. This is easily done by adding back in, say mock meat or something like tofu to that dish. Problem solved! A little research goes a long way. When going on a plant based diet you need to find out common plant based sources of all essential nutrients. For instance dark leafy greens for calcium and iron or flaxseed and chia seeds for omega 3. When I went vegan I realized how much I relied on tribal knowledge for my nutrition before. Once you go vegan you have to fill that gap with a little googling. Bit of a drag I guess, but before long your day to day navigation of your meals is as trivial as before you went vegan. The inconvenience is all front loaded. I'll also make special mention of b12. If it was absent in your diet that might explain your energy issues. Neither humans nor animals synthesize b12 so supplementation in some form is vital. (Livestock is usually injected with b12) You can get it cheaply from tablets or from fortified foods like oat milk, cereal or nutritional yeast. (nutritional yeast tastes amazing btw) Again, not sure what you were eating, but one more thing I would advise against is a raw plant based diet. With experience it might be doable, but it necessitates eating a large volume of food to meet your calorie requirements which isn't sustainable for most people. I'd say eat what you like but the vegan version. For example I still adore mac and cheese, reuben sandwiches (made with seitan instead of meat) and lasagna. There are vegan friendly alternatives to almost everything. Since you are performance focused I can't recommend enough watching "The Game Changers" on netflix. As it relates to athletes recovery would appear to be facilitated greatly by a plant-based diet, as well as increased blood flow generally to perform at your best. And of course being less likely to get diabetes, cancer, or die of a heart attack is a neat bonus as well. I am vegan for the animals, as I believe everyone should be. Having this as a pillar of my actions means sustaining willpower to keep choosing animal friendly products over what were previously comfort foods like cheese, or that donair kabab is an absolute non issue. "The best speech you will ever hear" by Gary Yourofsky on youtube is a silver bullet to get to that belief. I include this only because I respect you enough to think the truth will resonate if you hear it. Veganism=believing animals deserve moral consideration and acting accordingly. Plant based merely refers to diet if that makes sense. I apologize profusely for leaving a draft for my Ted talk here lol. Needless to say I am passionate on the topic, and have researched quite a bit. Thank you so much for listening. That means the world.
I’d like to know if Wilson Chandler’s training changed because when Tim Grover trained Jordan, he had him train body parts that were used the most for his playing style. Regardless, your body isn’t going to recover much if you aren’t eating animal protein. What does it matter if Kyrie does his own research? That’s the way it’s supposed to be.
Deandra Jordan plants his own vegetables, most NBA players aren’t allowed to eat like they want. That last year the Warriors won Draymond said he was going to get a bag of fries chips. The reporter asked why hot fries and he said we have to maintain our body throughout games.
It definitely can be a factor in his health. Probably not though because he has a history of health issues. However, a vegan diet can severely compromise your health due to a lack of B vitamins and essential minerals
@@shinonkim4814 nothing is lacking man , do your research first. 6 years vegan, no problem, health is better than ever. Best thing i ever did for myself
A male athlete can't play at the professional level for a sustained period without consuming protein from animal products. Javale Mcgee at his last team physical in the bubble had increased his body fat while losing 7 pounds. He had lost about 9 pounds of muscle mass over a year. He went from being a starter, to being benched most games recently.
It takes a little bit of work because meat and dairy eating is mainstream and so that's what we're taught if people were taught from the beginning that you can get plenty of protein from plants and where which plants have the most protein then it wouldn't be work. It's only because we've grown up in a meat eating society.
@@FlowaMan But it doesn't though. Many think it does because it brings them closer to certain "entities" in some instances and people mistake this as some sort of enlightenment etc. Fasting for long periods and taking psychedelics will do the same thing. Plant based diets are not necessarily vegan, as vegetarians can stop way dairy products unlike vegans, and then you got vegetarians that eat fish as well

actually, the carnivore diet is the best for removing inflammation. Plants have things called phytochemicals, some called them phytonutrients, that can cause severe inflammation in people with sensitivities. GMO wheat, corn, and soy are way bigger causes of inflammation at Sr so-called vegetable oils, which you're actually really seed oils they have all just fallen prey to vegan propaganda. Vegans mistake the benefits of Fasting with eating plants only. Add fasting to your diet and you'll see the same weight loss results, less hunger and inflammation, plus you dont need 100 extra supplements like vegans 🤷🏿♂️
Your concept doesn’t apply to endurance athletes. NBA players shouldn’t be fasting during an 82 games season. So no, fasting wouldn’t be the same results as a vegan for a NBA player
It's impossible to be a high level athlete and vegan or entirely plant-based without taking supplements. These guys have their food prepped for them and always have those supplements included, likely included in their protein powder smoothies and such. It's extremely disingenuous to claim that plant-based is a healthy diet in the absence of supplements. There is a massive vegan and plant-based agenda out there motivated primarily by profit, with the animal ethics folks used as pawns for that profit agenda. These profit-driven people have been pushing plant agriculture products for the past hundred years. There's nothing wrong with seeking profits, so long as deceit isn't involved. In the case of these folks, fraud , deceit, and obfuscation are the norm. They don't care about human health, only profit. And they have pumped billions of dollars into biased research to tip the scales of so-called nutrition science in order to bolster their bottom line and to indoctrinate the general population into believing their products are "good" for them. People eventual get wise to some of their methods, like when they used to promote processed sugars and grains as "healthy", or when they promoted processed hydrogenated seed oils as the "healthy" alternative. The general population has continued to get fatter and more disease prone as we have adopted these "healthy" options over the decades, so clearly their claims are false. But they constantly pivot to the next thing, now on a full-on attack of meat, while promoting some of the most unhealthy fake meat slop as the alternative, hiding within these products some of the very ingredients we have already begun to realize are not healthy. These NBA players who are making money off this fake meat are almost certainly not eating substantial amounts of this unhealthy food they are promoting to others. If they were, they likely would be out of the league with injuries and general under-performance in a hurry. Don't fall for the propaganda. While this video seems to buy into some of the plant-based hype, I appreciate that there is a bit of skepticism and the advice to look into the background of the people pushing an agenda (any agenda). The classic question "cui bono?" is one we should all take to heart.
The wannabe “Vegan” folks are missing the point..it’s about increasing consumption of plants...not frying and BBQing plants, beans, etc...damn, eat a salad folks! ;)
Most athletes that stick to veganism are more injury prone. Meat is not the problem. It's the answer. The problem is SAD( Standard American Diet) junk food, vegetables oils, etc.
Early human being were predominantly vegan. People didn’t eat meat until the mosaic laws which us after the great flood. But if you are a church goer or religious you know Adam lived 930 years Noah 950 years and human lifespan after Moses dramatically reduced to like 120-170 years . He's taking this year off because the nets want to take a look at Spencer Dinwiddie and Caris Lavert to see who is going to get traded and who is going to be the 6th man coming off of the bench for quality minutes. Its easier to evaluate their talent if you take Kyrie Irving out of the picture. They're trying the see what the team is going to look like next year so they took Kyrie out of the lineup and called it an injury.
On a serious note this could be why Kyrie is having 'issues mentally' Too many vegetable oils and not enough saturated fat, DHA/EPA. If joint injuries start piling up- it could be the case.
On WTH website the resources are listed. All someone needs to do is read it and evaluate the used methodology themselfs. the last part clearly needs some expertise, but highly flawed studies are usually obviously highly flawed. for example the good old using half dead high cholesterol patients, where it's known for many years that they cant raise their LDL much more, to prove that high cholesterol foods dont impact LDL. sadly bullshitting works on the majority of people.
It's a shame that these guys were iron deficient or had a hard time maintaining weight. 4 years vegan for me and I'm doing great, building muscle, gaining weight, and staying healthy.

@@sstg4422 Right on brother! You rock.
no wonder Michael Porter started getting injured more, that meat diet will make your bones weaker and have you injured/fatigued/sore longer. Athletes are constantly using their bodies so their diet is extremely important.
Three days a week I’m raw plant based. Huge difference.
And limit meat as much as possible (and absolutely no chips or packaged goods, as best as you can do)
I lost a lot of weight so it made it easier for me to surf smaller and more performance boards, and paddle easier (obviously less weight to carry around). So that applies to normal people who want to feel lighter in other sports too.
But the fatigue issue was a thing, but you just have to keep eating fruits and veggies and nuts throughout the day. You’ll probably lose some sprinting power (I do feel like meat gives you a better surge of immediate speed for sprinting movements - but over the long stretch of a whole game being more into vegetables will keep you in the game longer)
Hopefully this makes it easier for anyone looking for a reasonable way to do it.
(nutritional yeast tastes amazing btw)
Again, not sure what you were eating, but one more thing I would advise against is a raw plant based diet.
You can get all essential amino acids on a plant-based diet. "Not recovering much without animal protein" is scientifically wrong.
Deandra Jordan plants his own vegetables, most NBA players aren’t allowed to eat like they want. That last year the Warriors won Draymond said he was going to get a bag of fries chips. The reporter asked why hot fries and he said we have to maintain our body throughout games.

It's only because we've grown up in a meat eating society.

actually, the carnivore diet is the best for removing inflammation. GMO wheat, corn, and soy are way bigger causes of inflammation at Sr so-called vegetable oils, which you're actually really seed oils they have all just fallen prey to vegan propaganda.
