    Well done Shelly! It is so nice to see doll book reviews. I appreciate your help on my requests for identification in the past. AND for all of the other assistance you and your sister have given me! Hugs to you both from Lynn in SLC!!

    I just have to comment on the American Girl doll magazine! My daughter and I LOVED it! unfortunately, they discontinued it midway through our second or third year subscription. They offered the subscribers a book collection package to make up for the loss of the magazine. It was very nice and we liked the books but the magazine was so so good! I found copies of the original American girl magazine from the 1990s in a thrift store. It was incredibly unique! I think that they would highlight a real life American girl subscriber and they would also do a paper doll version of her based on her hobbies, family history and what she loved. If you ever get a chance to look through one of these magazines you’ll love it! Also the discontinued Barbie Bazaar magazines were beautifully produced!

      My mom actually got my sister a year subscription to the magazine back in the 90s. We had a whole bunch of those paper dolls--my favorite was Marisha, and Colleen's was Liana. It really was such a cool concept, it's a shame they no longer do it.

    Hi Shelly. I have been watching you since I was 4 years old. Then I took a break from collecting for 3.5 years and returned to collecting at 11 years old. I collect Monster High, Ever After High, Bratz, Rainbow/Shadow High and LOL OMG. I watched your collection videos and you inspired me to start collecting. This is a collection, I do not play with them and usually take photos. I love your videos 😊

    I started buying the Barbie collection books a while back. So far, I have 4 and one that's more informational rather than for identification. I continue to get them as I can afford them. It helps to see what books are worth the purchase. Your videos help so much! Thank you!!

    This is a great idea for a video, and I agree with your feelings about books that don't have the black/white info that we're looking for. Many seem more like "coffee table" books with carefully curated content -meant for visual appeal over anything else and not very comprehensive. Re: the Barbie Exclusives book, I LOVE that one, but I don't have the latest. I'm going to have to find that last one too, because I have a gaggle of Leo Co. India Barbies! They're interesting, yet sticky lol. I'd love to see a video of your foreign issued dolls! 🤗

      Thank you so much! Yes, coffee table book is the perfect way to describe some doll books. Both of those books you mentioned are definitely worth it

    This past week I started some deep cleaning of my old Barbies. Started collecting 60's Barbies over 30 years ago. Thanks to watching videos like yours I got the courage to undo and wash ponytails that were getting pretty dirty. The wraps are nice. Getting a firm curl still a work in progress. I still remember combing my first ponytail Barbie's hair around 1960. Then I did the same thing 30 years later when I got my vintage Barbie. Nothing changed. Still doing it. Have you shown how to do a pony and hard curl? Thanks. Take care.

      It's awesome that you can still remember combing your first ponytail Barbie's hair in 1960! I did have to recreate that style on my Swirl Ponytail when I re-rooted her some years ago (it's shown in my "Tortured Treasures" transformation video).

    Thanks for this update. I really appreciate the love and time you put into your videos and Flickr, they are a true gift to me. I've started collecting doll books in the last few years due to you and Rachel Hoffman. They do offer so much information. There are so may useful doll sites, but by nature, they are ephemeral. With a book, I know the knowledge will be there year after year. I really wish there were Bratz identification books and I love that you made your own

    I had no idea there was so many different types of books out there about dolls and on Pacific Doll types
    You and Colleen collected for many, many, many many many years. I bet you they're still dolls in your collection of books that you want. Do you have more American girl books about who is who and who goes with what accessories and clothing.

    • @AThousandSplendidDolls
      @AThousandSplendidDolls  5 місяців тому

      It's incredible how many books there are on dollies out there! Sadly there aren't any comprehensive American Girl books--just the two in the video (which are more geared for kids). But American Girl Wiki and American Girl Playthings are VERY great online resources for all that info (and I use them when I add info to my Flickr guide).

    Pleasant T. Rowland actually was still a consultant for American Girl for a couple years after she sold to Mattel, and she was actually involved in the development of Kit and Kaya. After that, she quit completely. That may be where the confusion for some comes in.
    *****I hope I said that politely..I didn’t mean it in a rude way at all.

    • @AThousandSplendidDolls
      @AThousandSplendidDolls  5 місяців тому

      Yes, I was aware that she was still on their board for a few years. But a lot of people think that because something is tagged or stamped Pleasant Company it means it is (even for characters like Julie who came out years later) :)
