My 9 ft Christmas tree is still up undecorated in my living room. Next week is July 4th. I have rheumatoid arthritis now for 10 years and am unable to walk without pain and using a walker. My daughter’s and their husbands come to visit every other week but never ask if they can help us. They live 10 minutes from us. They no longer take me to my doctor appointments or do anything for us. I spent my life raising these girls and did everything for them. I don’t have any other family near us. I have to pay people to do things we need. I wasn’t even invited to my granddaughters birthday party because I might ruin the party because of my health conditions. I go to counseling weekly to try to get through this but no matter what it still hurts. My mom was a widow with 3 little girls and none of us would have done anything like this. We helped her with whatever she needed. Life doesn’t seem to be fair.
❤ I feel you it's not you first of all it's them and yes it hurts... that generation of our children don't want to really do anything for us...yes we were great parents but it doesn't matter....we were great children to our parents but with our children it doesn't matter...one thing for sure we did nothing wrong it's just them how they act...I've cried way to many tears...so now we have to dry our tears...see if you can contact a church and see if they have people who would volunteer to do things to help you...I wish you the best, I'm so sorry you're in so much pain...my prayers will be with you and please try not to stress yourself over their ignorance and remember you are not alone...also talk to your Dr. You should be entitled for home help please check it out...your cost is zip....
I'm so sorry, I help my parents they are 84 and 86, my brother will stop at stores for them I help dust, hang clothes, empty the dishwasher, my sister had a grocery delivery to come twice a month, my children 24 and 20 helps me and their dad, I can't believe how selfish the younger generation are acting, I'm GenX my kids Gen Z , and I can't fathom them not helping ❤
I love your "junk". It's such wonderful eye candy, but better yet, it's a feeling! I'm 70 and it takes me back to my grandmother. Such wonderful feelings!
Your space turned out adorable, so fun. I love seeing you and Chris together, your love and respect for each other is so heartwarming. Please take care of yourself I am praying for your health.
*The rusty crusty butterfly inside the terra cotta saucer beneath your nesting box "bench" really is the "cherry on top" Yvonne❣️ Everything looks so nice and cohesive...GREAT JOB‼️😍👍🏼*
Yvonne...I love it! I just moved and I brought all my outdoor "junk" which I, like you treasure, with me ..I have been setting it all up as I can..it all makes me happy too! I appreciate your sharing your ideas! Take care
My husband was diagnosed with cancer in May. Just started treatment Tuesday. I also have thyroid problems also. I’ll be praying for you and your family.
I was diagnosed with just a thyroid issue and it has zapped my energy. I used to do flowers, lawn, pots and plants. I did it all!!! Now I just barely keep the few who have survived watered enough to keep them alive. I also suffer from depression and even with meds it is an everyday struggle to be”happy”.
I get it, I deal with depression, too as well as chronic pain. BUT, gardening is therapeutic! I work in spurts, do what I can when I can, and don't beat myself up if I have to put something off for a day or two, or a week or two. I have modified my gardens to suit my limitations, instead of a huge veggie bed, I have washtubs that serve as my veggie spaces. I have learned to ask for help now and then! I do what I love when I can, and try to find joy in what I do get done. I challenge myself to do something every day, maybe you could try that? Good Luck!
@jadestone8552 thyroid is a very important part of our health and it can be very serious if not treated. I’ve had low thyroid levels (Hashimoto’s disease)for forty years. Hopefully your doctor is trying to find the correct medication for you. That will help a lot with your energy level. My suggestion is give yourself some grace and do what you can and let the rest go. I can’t speak to depression as I’ve never suffered with that. Prayers you will be feeling better soon.
@@ruthfitzwater-cn3vc I’ve had it for 50 years and I have found that your diet can make a big difference. Look up food for thyroid. It’s made such a big big difference in my life. My depression is far and in between.
You could make your deck charming just like you made your little nook, until you get what you really want. It's not that small...plenty of room. Start by putting your swing catty corner nearest the house or perpendicular to the house on the right side. Move your table in the middle of the deck to make it the focal point and put a centerpiece on the table, maybe a tray with terra cotta pots, and include some flowers in it. Move just a few of your things from your little area you just did to the deck and put a few big pots of flowers on the outer corner and down the steps. The two areas would be linked and the deck wouldn't look neglected.
Yvonne…IF you struggle to find annuals for planting use perennials. You can always plant them in the fall or protect them til spring but perennials usually do just fine in pots during the winter. I plant hostas in pots constantly and they always come back. Those are saucers for under your pots Hunny! Everything looks good, coming along just fine. Takes time when we move to do all the things and that strawberry pot is my absolute favorite terra cotta piece. I am praying you to health because I can hear your struggles in your breathing so you aren’t quite your old self yet. God bless Chris, I get a bit teary eyed when you two work projects together because that was Jack just 18 months ago. Sadly Jack just isn’t able to do a lot since the autoimmune disease caused the end stage renal failure. We move on and take each day as it comes and for me, I celebrate every good day Hunny has! God knows best even if we don’t but you and Chris need to celebrate all your wonderful days together doing all the things!!! I do…I love all the visits and Chris being in the visits is icing on the cake! Thanks for taking us along today, I loved every minute of your time shared!!!:):):)
I would plant potted herbs and tomatoes at the patio, where the black mulch is it can still be colorful and busy without going into the ground. Love your terra-cotta pots and the new nesting box arrangement!😊🌻
Love your outdoor bench - what a find for $2.00😳 The entire video was eye candy- watering cans, pots, rusty crusty beauty. I have a garden of metal flowers, which I just love.
I have collected & treasured terra-cotta, everything galvanized metal including buckets & watering cans & primitive angels for junk in my gardens for decades. I loved visually looking through your stash. Thanks for a new outdoor decorating idea. I'm a little behind this year as well. I agree with the attitude you have. Maybe I'm late, but I'm still going to do it. So glad I recently found your channel. It's quickly becoming my favorite.
I love you “happy little space”! I have liked crocks and galvanized since I was a kid. Who knows why we are drawn to certain types of things. Better yet, who cares why?! I grew up with a farm in north central Ohio, wish I could go pick’in now!
Seems unfair to the rest of us that not one, but 2 extremely talented people such as yourself and Chris found each other 😂. Most of us are out here fighting about choosing a paint colour. Don’t get me wrong though - we’re happy for ya!

My husband works outside and loves the uv protected clothing from Free Fly Apparel. It protects his skin and, with them being bamboo, keeps him cooler.
The space turned out soooo good. I will have to look for those hooks. We had to have the front part of our house re-sided after a pickup ran through it. I don't want to put nails in the new siding. My front has no decor now. It looks sad.
Everything looks wonderful Ginger. I love “junk gardening “. I really love the nesting box. We use so many yard-sale or side of the road finds in our gardens , porches and summer room. It’s the best decor. I’ve had skin cancer too so I have to be careful as well. Love and blessings ❤️❤️❤️
Hi Yvonne, I too had planted wildflowers and can't tell which are flowers until they bloom. Your space looks good with your decor and flowers. I think a rustic bistro set would look cute there, maybe keep you out of the sun (depending on time of day) and out of the wind, a nice spot for a cup of coffee.
Absolutely a happy little space! ❤ Lovin’ all of this! Like you said, beautiful space without all the work of full gardens….. I have huge gardens that I inherited from the previous owner and it takes me a couple days to weed and trim (even with mulch down) as they are all perennials and very mature plants…. I love it but I also love the simplicity of yours with all your rusty crusty!💖💖💖
This video was telling my story this year. I am so behind on all my outdoor projects and we are having extreme heat… over 100 … it’s driving me crazy! This is encouraging me to get it done as well
When you replant a potted plant- “tickle” the roots! Listen the roots from the compacted dirt, so it’s easier for the roots to grow!! Then enjoy the results!!
Such a lovely space you created! I love terracotta and you have inspired me to keep adding them and using them in and outside, i have enjoyed thrifting them and adding unusual finds in terracotta as well. I love the mix of the terracotta , metal and flowers that you have done and Adding the metal to the lil shed was so sweet as well. Nesting box...love it too , thank you both for your talent and inspiration. Please take care
Absolutely love how you decorated your space!!! I also just tried your, decoupage on copier paper and burning the edges trick , and now I want to put it on everything. Lol. I really enjoy watching your channel and your amazing creativity. I hope you are feeling better. Have a wonderful weekend!
I love your junk garden! I discovered those vinyl siding hooks about 3 years ago and I love them too. I have started a small junk garden myself and hope to expand it. I love your channel and the way Chris is always willing to do all those special things/builds for you, he is a treasure! Thanks for sharing your creativity, you are so inspiring.
You do such a nice job with what you call junk, but you are a creative artist when it comes to decorating with it . Your little space looks very homey.
Being fair skinned and formerly reddish, now more greyish headed...and having had 4 skin cancers removed... the joys of Australia! I get it re long sleeves and shade in summer. Mind you it's winter here for us and we've had 35.6F mornings here. Keep well love your gardens
It is great you and Chris work together on these projects. My hubby used to help but isn't physically able now. The little garden areas look great. Love rusty crusty!
This is gorgeous! I love your vision, and how sweet and welcoming everything turned out. Will you change it with the seasons? Something tells me you will! Can’t wait to find out. You are so talented! ❤
I love gardening too try to save the seeds and replant them.I live in Houston and it’s super hot but I work early in the morning till around 11am can’t stop, I need to get a bench like the one where you put the watering cans, love the nesting box 😮
That outdoor nook area would look lovely with a pergola style "roof" so some green vines could grow up the outer posts and break up the white. Make a little spot for a bistro table and a chair.
Ii love all your junk garden decorating. That is the best way to decorate a garden. I have old bed frame garden with flowers in them. I use lots of old chairs. I use those siding hooks too and i have one of those on from of the house but it kept blowing away so i put a little silicone on the back of the siding hook and it came a awful strom and my star is still in place.😅
If the modern terra-cotta doesn’t have a hole in it, it might be an outdoor doggy water dish. The rock flooring looks good now that you’ve decorated so nicely. If you still choose to pour concrete make sure the contractor it up! You can add color to your concrete, usually in a powder form. It won’t be as dark once it’s dried so don’t be afraid to use too much. In New Orleans we have a lot slate patios, and sidewalks. A slate gray color would be really nice with your white house and black doors. Also, you can use a stamp on the concrete while it’s wet to look like brick or stone. but you are the ginger chick so you’ll know what to do. I love your channel!
Sorry to hear you’d skin cancer I’m Irish so pale skin factor 50 all the way . My w😅ld flowers were the same omg they are stunning now I love them . Ye are doing great work , one day at a time I’ve spinal fusion so things are slow when I’m working away xxx
You are outdoor space looks absolutely fabulous really really love it all and be patient with the wildflower garden. It will come out beautifully. My grandmother always had them around her house. They always gave me so much joy God bless you and happy Fourth of July in advance.🙏💕👋🇨🇦
The tin snip cutter is awesome! Yvonne, regardless of what you do it turns out wonderful!!!! You just have magic in your mind and hands! You decorate outside the way I would love to decorate with. Thanks for sharing!! Your new area you decorated is totally awesome and yes...a happy place!!
A fun video to watch. I liked watching the re roofing project on the garden shed. Everything looks really nice. My mom was an oil painter and she used to put a really high price on the paintings she wanted to keep. So you aren't the only one.
Good morning from Ireland 🇮🇪. Just love how you’re making the outdoors look so interesting with not just flowers but really beautiful and interesting items that work so well with your home.I too love terracotta pots and planters I been replacing my plastic pots over the past few years with terracotta and pottery ones ,The look interesting even without plants or flowers 🌺. Keeps well and enjoy your gardening 👩🌾.☘️💚
You worked your brand of magic on your lil nook and I love it. You do know how to stage an area so beautifully with unique ideas and unusual pieces. Low maintenance, is my idea of gardening 😅. Absolutely beautiful.😊❤
I love your rusty, crusty look. The area you did with the nesting box looks amazing. Just a suggestion, how about adding one of those old metal outdoor chairs that has rusted and faded? Love your channels!
I love your collection of watering cans!

Chris has the coolest tools and he knows how to use them all! I love that you two take such good care of one another.
I watched your video on a friend's TV. Love your outdoor display ❤️

A fun video to watch. I liked watching the re roofing project on the garden shed. Everything looks really nice. My mom was an oil painter and she used to put a really high price on the paintings she wanted to keep. So you aren't the only one.

Look for a realistic ceramic hen for your nesting box. Put her on a straw nest. Love your style.

I love your rusty, crusty look. The area you did with the nesting box looks amazing. Just a suggestion, how about adding one of those old metal outdoor chairs that has rusted and faded? Love your channels!
