I think it is Rodgers volunteering to come out. Usually, if a QB is coming out of a game, if the team is blowing out a team or the team is getting blown out, the coach is the one that makes that decision. But to volunteer to the coach to come out the game himself and put in the backup QB is the thing that relates to the AR situation. I don't think it is as bad because the Colts weren't completely out of the game. But I can kinda see the correlation.

Richardson benching himself showed MORE SELFLESSNESS and class than when Aaron did it. Richardson was ceding to Flacco, who had a lot of success the year before. Richardson wanted the young receivers and the running back to develop on time, even if it was without himself. Rodgers never cared about the other players.
