He was 20 years before his time. He shot 8 threes a game in 2002 with the Celtics when they made the ECF. Could pass, shoot, score and rebound def would be a superstar in todays game, similar to Jamal Mashburn
Dude you post the dopest videos!! This is such a great topic as well posting underrated players!!.. how am I barely finding out about this UA-cam account??!!?? 😅
@EVERYTHINGSEVERYTHING no Rice just played football in college, I'm just saying that for a year or two all 3 of those guys were at the same high school
Funner Fact: Antoine Walker(&Willie Jones, played at Loyola Marymount)were supposed to go to St Rita and not Mt Carmel. He took the entrance exam that everyone who is going to attend a Catholic HS has to take and did so poorly (scored around 8 out of 100) that before his Freshman year,Coaches at St Rita said he should take summer classes to be on somewhat better academic footing going into HS. Now, these summer sessions weren't extremely rigorous, the coaches told him he'd have maybe a half hour in the classroom and after that he could just go hoop in the gym. Antoine (& family) weren't happy about this and Mt Carmel (bastion of academic excellence 😬) said Come on down, you don't need to do anything like that. True Story so help me God. I was a year older than Antoine (&McNabb) and everyone was excited as can be that he was coming to St Rita. McNabb wasn't anything too special at hoops but Football...there was no doubt he would play in the NFL.
I remember him from his Kentucky days. He was a solid guy. It was very hard to watch his NBA career though. He lost his edge when the Celtics paid him that first big deal and his discipline went out of the window then he gained weight. Some guys just become complacent once they become wealthy.
Maybe so, but as a boston guy... i toughed it through the dark era of the 90s-00s. so many horrible teams. And AW was one of the lowlights of that era (the worst will always be Rick Pitino). About as empty as an empty stats guy ever gets. he'd do that stupid shimmy when we were still down 37 points. yuck. I mean maybe, a motivated AW on a better team would be an asset, and maybe this is just how players like him have to operate when in a dismal situation. so I'll cut him slack in that regard.
he wouldnt even be allowed to play the way he did because he was one of the least efficient player of his time. analytics and efficiency experts would crucify him even further
Those Adidas Athletes in the early 2000's had the coolest Nicknames "Employee Number #8 Antoine Walker and "Agent 0" Gilbert Arenas and I still love those "Crazy 8s" Adidas Kobes, Antoine Walker was ahead of his time, he'd kill today a Point Power Forward he had handle, he shot the 3 at 35%-38% percent and could legitimately be at the head of your offense distributing the basketball, he was a problem!
That 2002 Celtics squad was awesome to watch in person. I was there when Pierce walked Harrington down at the end of the first half. Some really awesome core memories for me. Thank you to those Celtics and Jim O'Brien
He said it’s just a big part of my game…. I knew that was coming out of his mouth. I was in the gym one day and I couldn’t hear audio, but I read his lips
Walker was like Marcus Smart-he shot bricks! But I love Antoine Walker because, along with Paul Pierce, they were all the Celtics had in the '90s and early 2000s. The 2002 playoff run holds a special place in my heart.
The original 3PT chucker! That said, he was much better of a player than he was given credit for. His poor shot selection overshadowed what he did great.
Me being a Celtics fan Antoine Walker was one of my favorite players back in the day and yes sometimes he took shots that made you scratch your head but overall he was a good player that did his best on the basketball court. And on a side note I have a you tube channel type in Russell Mills May 22, 2017 to find me.
Great content on a player that is often not spoken of enough!! He would be a phenomenal player I. The game of today! Keep up the incredible work and the attention to details makes it all so robust! Please consider: Jeff Hostetler Jake Plummer John Riggins Kevin Greene Harry Carson Pepper Johnson Art Monk Freeman McNeil
Antoine was supposed to be Pierce’s running mate in Boston but that didn’t work out AW had the skills and potential to be a great all around forward but that wasn’t completely reached
Yep, and that's because all he wanted to do was shoot 3s instead of working to be a better all around player. He was much more suited to play in today's NBA where just about every game is a glorified 3pt shooting contest....
Great, great video! Thank you kindly🕊 I loved those crappy Celtics Dino & Wesley then w/ Billups & Mercer then Kenny Anderson, Chris Herren…I dropped them when Big Ticket arrived, never cared for Pierce…anyways I disliked that my favorite player for a few years took so many bad 3’s. I enjoyed his post game he all but abandoned after a few years.
He was one of my favorite cats and still is and he also had the best playable shoes on the market for civilians(Adidas feet you wear) look them up guys!
the best thing ainge did when he took over the celtics was to get rid of walker. he was horribly inefficient player who had fallen in love with the 3 even though he was terrible at it. kinda like josh smith
If I had 3.3 assists in a year, I wouldn't be mad if someone said it 3 and half. Would you? Would you demand they say 3.3 instead? And I, as a non nba player, don't mind his ast avg being estimated at .2 higher.
When asked why he shot so many 3 pointers, Walker once said "because there is no 4 pointers"
lol, I remember another interviewer asking him the same and he said “Well, they’re there.”
😂😂😂😂I just told that story to a coworker last night. Will never forget that answer.
He was 20 years before his time. He shot 8 threes a game in 2002 with the Celtics when they made the ECF. Could pass, shoot, score and rebound def would be a superstar in todays game, similar to Jamal Mashburn
Mashburn was a menace
I’d take mashburn over him
@@SeanDiegodef. Mashburn was more team oriented
@@dontefair6739 he was a load in the post. footwork, strength, shot making, fadeaway mj like
@dontefair6739 He was definitely before his time because he was asked why he shot so many 3. He said because it's no 4 pointers 😂.
Dude you post the dopest videos!! This is such a great topic as well posting underrated players!!.. how am I barely finding out about this UA-cam account??!!?? 😅
Better late than never, glad you came across it!
Fun fact: Antoine was Teammates with Donovan McNabb, who was also on that 96 Syracuse final four team.
Simeon Rice was also at Mount Carmel when Walker and McNabb were there, just a couple years older
@@ForgottenPlayerProfilesSimeon rice and Donovan Mcnabb played d1 basketball?

As a Heat fan, I’ll always have love for Walker! He was clutch in the playoffs on that ‘06 championship team.

He was ahead of his time. He would be more appreciated in today's positionless basketball.
Maybe so, but as a boston guy... i toughed it through the dark era of the 90s-00s. so many horrible teams. And AW was one of the lowlights of that era (the worst will always be Rick Pitino). He made multiple all star teams. How much more should he have been celebrated, lol.

I still have an Adidas Kobe shirt with the "frobe" logo. Man those were the days!
Gave a fresh pair of crazy 8s for my friends bday at work on Christmas Eve. 💯🔥🙏🏼💪🏼 Have a happy New Year to u n who ever looking at this comment.🙏🏼🙏🏼
Walker in the Finals with Miami had a face that read he wanted to win about as badly as anyone I’ve ever seen.
Anyone can win bad when they cry

It’s interesting that so many PFs who were hated in that era would be coveted now (walker, Keith van horn, rashaard lewis)
You could add Jermaine O’Neal in there too. Yeah he was a mosty at center but he was 6’9” and Antoine and him had some good battles
I miss the Antoine shimmy. And when they asked him why he shot so many 3s and his response was “well, they’re there.” 😅
He said it’s just a big part of my game…. I knew that was coming out of his mouth. I was in the gym one day and I couldn’t hear audio, but I read his lips
Just wanna say thank you for making this videos! I’ve watched all the NBA vids a lot of my favourite players growing up , especially Walker
I miss the old music!! 😢😢😢 lol. A video on Bill Lambeer is needed
6'8" pushing 250. Super athletic at the size. Excellent finisher and real guard skills. In today's game, he's potentially the goat of the era.
Solid take, but "super athletic" is a stretch 😂
@khbrown8963 For the body type, super athletic fits. Big ol jelly roll with a 38" vert. That's pretty damn athletic.
These videos are great! Thank you for all the hard work 😊
Thanks, appreciate it!
Had some of the most beautiful dribble drives to the basket

one of my fave point forward
pip

ghill

He was so versatile
He blew 120 million, thats crazy!
I believe he got hit hard when robbed in his hometown of crime riddled Chicago 😬
That didn’t help lol
But yeah that’s like Brewers millions 😊
He would have been GREAT in the modern NBA.
I put my day on hold for this tyty!
Talented but never really dedicated himself in the weight room or conditioning and fell in love with the 3. He’d fit more in today’s game.
The playoff game that came 24 points down on the third was insane. Saw him and pierce many times in NJ when they woukd stop by.
Thank you 😊
"CYBER TWON"
Employee no.8 video dropped on the 8th. Nice (also funny because one of his jersey numbers was 88)
Because Al Jefferson wore his No. 8.
@goriotv2023 Yes
I'm just joking but how nice of Miami to make a sculpture of Antoine Walker.

I saw him at O'hare a few years back. He wasn't doing the best. Hopefully, he's doing better. Loved him at MC High.
Should do one on Mike James next. Unknown guy but got buckets

Cyber toine was a sweet nick name
That nickname jinxed him because he is an employee now 😂
Say what you want about his poor efficiency, shot selection but he was huge as role player 06 Heat title team
Shot way too many 3s…shit ruined his game
Let’s get that straight that young man who went out there to USC he declared for the pros but didn’t go to the pros in. Patino didn’t want him back.
CYBER TOINE!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
I wonder how many white heat fans thought he was Shaq when they use to get on planes or off of buses lol😂😂😂😂😂
