thx for the info. have been struggling with all kinds of hdmi cables, too. ended up with an overpriced copper cable, because all hdmi 2.1 fibre cables i tested in the past didn't work correctly over time. there were some highend cables which cost a few hundreds and they had the same problems. good to know they finally should have a working chipset with full hdmi 2.1 bandwith and support.

I too had constant issues with s95c on PC with game mode on and after weeks of trying to figure it out I managed to fix it. I am not sure why this would be an issue but for me it was game mode, and no I don't mean on the TV but rather game mode within windows... I haven't had problems since turning it off however I will say while not a deal breaker and definitely better than constant disconnects I do feel as tho its not AS responsive as it was before turning off so I think I will get 1 of these cables and try it out see if I can turn game mode back on and not have the issues.

We should get together and sue Samsung for misleading consumers! Because this problem has existed for years with the one connect box, and it's quite obvious that they won't solve it right away! They don't want real competition for their high end gamer monitors. I already had problems with the box with my q9fn, qno5a and s95a televisions!

Damn, i really hope this information solves my problem - I've bought a S95C two months ago and didn't know why this black screen issue happens randomly. After I saw this video I ordered 2 different version (3 & 20m) to test it. I would really appretiate it if this works like you told in this video. Very disappointing from samsung that they don't give their own solution about that. I was so happy to have bought a real gaming TV and then this happened. Then the issue happened again. :( I called the samsung hotline and they did a remote repair - better said they tried. The remote repair failed, too. After that they offered me an local technician which is going to replace the cablebox tomorrow. I don't think that this will be an solution because it's common sense that this model series has an problem with 4K, 120hz, HDR output due to bandwith issue. If the technician couldn't repair the TV tomorrow I will get my money back and send the TV back to Samsung. After that I already planned to buy the "old" S90C model as an 77 inch model which is the same price like the S95C 65 Inch model. The only difference the S95C is a little bit more brighter in HDR content. That's fine for me. On rtngs.com they also mentioned this problem with the cable box. I recommened everyone to buy the S90C model. There is no problem known with the application of 4K, 120hz, HDR content. Have a nice day!

I don’t know how many of you S95C owners know about this but this issue sounds like the exact same issue that plagued the QN95A when I had one, something to do with the HDMI firmware.
I remember the engineer that came out to update my TV shown me the white paper, something to do with voltages on the HDMI chip itself, not saying it’s the same issue but I’m amazed Samsung are still having issues with picture dropouts.

I've had this issue for 3 weeks with my new S95C.
Today, i might have found the fix?
I have tried everything that i read online about this issue, and some things i've tried have only worked once, i bought a £55 fibre hdmi, it didn't make a diffence to the dropouts until I turned game mode to off then on again and for the first time i played for a couple of hours without issure and turned it off when i was done
.. the next day i tried the same thing again, but it didn't help, so i turned off every option that the tv's settings has (everything that could be disabled) so game mode was off too this time and i was able to play my ps5 for about 4 hrs with out issue and turned it off when i was done, then later that same day i wanted to play again but all i got were constant dropouts and this time disabling everything did nothing.
So today, I thought I'd give it another go and got it working without dropouts (after trying everything else first) by going into the ps5 settings,- screen and video,- 4K video transfer rate - then clicking the -2 option,i played for many hours without issue. Later, i started the ps5 up again and nothing but dropouts, went to the ps5 settings, clicked -2 again, and had no dropouts and was able to play for a couple of hours til I'd had enough.
I'm hoping that when i try it again tomorrow, it will work. I don't know if it will, but this setting on the ps5 has worked twice in a row. Nothing else has, so we shall see.

I've had the same problem, but changing the 4k refresh rate on the PS5 to -1 or -2 means you're only gaming in 2k, not 4k. So I think I'm going to have to return my S95C as what's the point in paying for 4k oled if I can only game in 1080p.

So Alan Wake 2 is having immense VRR flicker for you as well on PC. I don‘t know what it is but as soon as the game becomes heavy for the GPU (especially with more RT settings enabled) the frame rate is very unstable and jumps around in a 30-40 fps range even without even moving the ingame camera and that causes huge VRR flicker on OLED. It‘s somewhat fine in the daylight scenes, but it gets super distracting in the heavier and darker nighttime scenes. I just reached the point with Alan in the TV show and the scene after that flickers like crazy. Only gets somewhat stable with all RT settings disabled. Not even remotely stable on a 4090 + 5.8 GHz (all-core OC) 13900KS with 8000c34 memory. There is definitely something wrong with the rendering here and I really hope they fix it soon because it breaks a lot of the immersion for me, same VRR flicker with the cutscenes (which should play at a fixed frame rate) and on top the horrible mouse movement that forces me to play on controller. Fantastic game ruined by technical issues on PC atm…

Thank you! I have been driving myself crazy thinking there is something wrong with my TV or Cable or PC settings while playing AW2. There's massive banding and posterization in the menus as well. The cutscene in the start of Chapter 3 Local Girl, the car driving on the road has very messed up trees and shadows, almost milky greys. Even in the game, there's flicker but not as bad as cutscenes and menus. I am running it on a 4080 btw. So is RT to off the solution? Should I try turning off VRR for this game?

    • @ledooni
      @ledooni 9 місяців тому +1

      @@nsinghc2799
Absolutely not, you need VRR for an even remotely smooth experience. The flicker just indicates that the frame times are very unstable and that is a sign that it would likely stutter a lot without VRR. Best thing you can do is disable Frame Gen (amplifies the flicker by a lot) and slightly turn down the settings. I've played with RT Indirect Lighting on low and both volumetric settings at medium + 4K DLSS Performance on my 4090 and that made it quite a bit more stable. You might have to turn down a few more settings if you want a similar experience on a 4K screen with the 4080. Also turn off any sort of Vsync and frame limit. The game and also the cutscenes don't like that, also causes more flicker. Hope that'll make it a little more enjoyable for you and I also hope they'll fix all of this in future update. There's also still bugs in the game that break some parts of the gameplay, so beware to always have a few somewhat recent manual saves that you can go back to.

      @nsinghc2799 9 місяців тому

@ledooni I just tried this, kept everything the same and in Nvidia control panel set the game settings to 60fps fixed and that solved almost all flicker. Game seems very stable now and it's not like i was hitting over 60 fps with my 4080 anyways... even with performance dlss.

My friend, I bought the cable you showed in the video, I am using it in a 4090 system. He noticed it at first, the frequency of dimming has decreased, but it still continues to do so. Even though I turned off the HDR10+, it continues to do this. I applied for service even though you did not turn it off in the video, I think the problem is entirely in one connectbox.
This situation definitely increases in frequency in games running at 144 Hz and high frame rates, for example, if the game gives an average of 90-100 fps, this situation does not exist, but it occurs more when there is a game that constantly pushes 144.

So after a few more weeks of testing and getting near to a breakdown I can conclude the following:
    1. In retrospective there is really no difference whether you're using fibre or normal ones.
    2. There are however different types of blackout. First one is the TV restarts the whole screen and the white spinning symbol comes up. That's your buggy Samsung issue. Which can be resolved pretty quickly, if you know what you're doing. Use an Ultra High Speed Cable and watch out if the device you're connecting to is able to deliver 4k/144 Hz otherwise you have to dump down to 120, 100 or even 60Hz. I have the Sony HT-A9 sound system so it's 120Hz max, if I want to connect into that thing. Which I don't want to, cause the bluray player would miss out on DTS.
    3. Second type of blackout is the constant flicker of one to three seconds, the graphics glitches, etc. And this one becomes an esoteric question more and more. What did I do: changing from 60 Hz tp 100Hz to 120Hz never to 144Hz and back to 100, 60, ... nothing worked
I reinstalled the NVIDIA drivers several times. Today I even blocked HDCP installation. No difference
I plugged that Notebook into the TV directly into different ports. Into the sound system and into an HDMI Switch. Nope, same result.
But: if I start the Notebook and wait for it to boot up and then switch the TV on. Then we are halfway through. But: Notebook is on gamemode forcing the TV to switch picture settings and that's where the blackouts kick in again. So: take the remote and press the power button long enough for a soft reset. Voila, it works. Don't switch to another channel, don't let the Notebook turn of the screen. Otherwise you have to do another soft reset.
VRR is a killer feature as far as I know. I turned it off.
I haven't tested my PS5 and I'm not sure what happened, if I had a tower based PC, rather than a notebook using the TV as second screen.

Thanks for the video. I feel like HDMI 2.1 is VERY fickle. I have a RTX 4090, and XBox Series X and a PS5. My TV does not have enough HDMI 2.1 ports, so today I bought an HDMI 2.1 switch. For the past few days (since I got my new TV), I had my RTX 4090 connected with an older HDMI cable simply labeled UHD High Speed cable. I was able to achieve 144Hz with VRR and HDR without any screen blanking issues. Today, I hook up the new switch and first thing I tested was my PC. I immediately noticed the random blanking for a split second every few seconds. It felt very random, but very noticeable. Since I did not know if the existing cable was HDMI 2.1 (it is braided and feels rather solid and thick), I tried using the cable that came with the XBox Series X (supposedly an HDMI 2.1 cable). I still got screen blanking for split second, but not as often... but still there are noticable when it happens. Then I hooked up my PS5 cable and the signal is now mostly stable. I've had a random blanking after a few minutes, but it is mostly stable. I perfectly believe that the HDMI 2.1 switch has something to do with it, however I NEED that switch to accommodate all my gaming devices at 120/144Hz in 4K.
Oddly enough, the PS5 and the Series X have not exhibited any screen blanking. I used Nioh 1 on the PS5 in 120Hz mode, and it was a rock-solid signal (although the game seems to use the YUV420 color space instead of RGB whereas my PC defaults to RGB). Have not yet tested the Series X, but I imagine it is also stable (don't have a title to test with).
If you read this far, thank you btw. Really appreciate it.
Btw, my PC is literally 2ft away from the switch and the TV. So I think a fiber HDMI cable would be overkill, but it would also completely eliminate the possibility of the issue being the cable, in which case it would be the cheap HDMI 2.1 switch I bought from Amazon (it's a non-brand).
I guess my question is: what are the quality differences between various passive HDMI cables (3' or 6' length)? Is it better shielding? Thicker wire? What makes one cable more susceptible to this screen blanking (I imagine it is some sort of interference issue???)... Any advice would be much appreciated. Again, sorry for the long post.

I'm having the same issue with a 4070ti super (3070 before also had the same problem).
PC -> fiber cable -> TV = Flawless, no signal drops

@@GamingTech-UA-cam I have a 15m optical cable for 2 years now and haven't had a single problem with it. And of course I'm using 4K 120Hz HDR. For the peripherals, I chose a 15m USB 3.0 repeater cable. It's an active cable and must be powered externally. Sometimes when I turn on the PC the USB doesn't work. I have to unplug it and plug it back. Now I know there are USB optical cables too. Maybe I should grab one of those. What did you choose for the USB?

The same issue has been on Samsungs since they started using that fricking One Connect box. I still own an older Samsung KS8500 (which is now my bedroom TV) and that issue was never fixed. Never tried fiber optic cable but I have tried all kinds HDMI cables all the way to properly HDMI 2.1 Certified one and as short as possible for good measure (half-meter) and all that with no help. Only thing that seems to fix it for a while is when it starts to happen I have to do a full shutdown and turn on cycle. I mean not just put it on stand-by but actually hold the power button on the remote for 5 seconds until the TV powers completely off. Then turn on the TV and the TV will restart its operating system and all that for few seconds. Then it seems to go on for hours and hours before it starts to happen again.
That TV was a bloody good HDR computer monitor otherwise but man did that issue drive me crazy at the times.

Funny you say that because I have a KS8000 from 2016 and it has the one connect box and it’s been absolutely flawless since day one. It’s been my all time favorite TV hands down that I’ve ever owned. Everything from the picture to the chrome feet and silver bezel is perfect on that tv IMO.
For that reason when I saw the S95C vs the S90C I was like “oh the one connect box is my choice for sure” and then I read about the he issues with the tv after purchasing the S95C when it was too late.
I’m returning my 77” S95C and replacing it with the 65” S90C (the 77” is impossible to find near me which is a huge disappointment but I’d rather get a smaller tv than keep the 77” S95C with dropout issues.)

I don't know if Nvidia did something with the latest drivers but I had problems turning Game mode on with the S95B Samsung Oled TV. Just tried a optical HDMI cable because yeah I had signal drops with a normal 7.5 hdmi cable already so thought this would be a nice thing if I could fix both problems. It all works now without any signal lose or glitches but I have now a new problem. Some games run fine but other game give me a black screen at start. Never had this problem before. Also if I change color format from 4.4.4 to 4.2.2 the screen wont come back not even after a restart so had to remove optical cable, reboot and reconnect. Look like the optical chip doesn't working with screen setting changes even from 1440p to 4k or windowed to Fullscreen gives me a black screen in those game.... Order a second optical HDMI cable hopefully with a better supported chip...

Is this still a thing!? I took back a Samsung 4K television when the PS4 pro came out because the screen would randomly strobe the signal on and off. I chose this Samsung because of the highly positive reviews at the time. I bought multiple cables of high quality. The firmware was what the issue was. Samsung never patched the bug out of it and many people on their support forums were very upset. I took the tv back to JB hi-fi and bought a C7 (2017) LG OLED

I have the same problem on my TCL c845 with a 4090. On 144hz and 120hz the screen randomly goes black a few times per hour but unlike with Samsung it only lasts a single second. I'm using the exact same fiber optic cable you showed, same brand, same packaging. So this won't be a solution for me but I still wanted to report that this issue isn't exclusive to Samsung TVs, and that perhaps it's actually unrelated to Samsung. I'm wondering if it's somehow software related (Windows 11?) or maybe something to do with the Nvidia drivers..

I've been having a similar issue, only when using HDMI 2.1 to a LG C9. What happens is that, randomly, on a cold boot as soon as it gets to the login screen it goes black (no signal), there's no fan ramp up or anything like that, it just loses signal, sometimes it happens if I leave it idling on desktop. I'm on Windows 11 23H2, fast startup off, latest drivers but happens on all drivers including this same FIBBR cable. The Event viewer always shows nlvddmkm crashes RESET TDR: GPUID 600 etc
This happens absolutely randomly, sometimes it doesn't happen for a full week, sometimes 2 days in a row. I never ever have this happen when gaming for example, absolutely no issues there.
One thing to note as well, is that when I'm using my office's monitor 8 hours per day working, which is DisplayPort, this NEVER happens.
Did you check if there were events in Event Viewer when this happened? Did the nvidia driver crash as well?

I'm using the S95c, a Sony HTA9 sound system and have my laptop connected to the sound system using a fibre cable and a 2m or 2.5m HDMI 8K certified Oehlbach cable back in the eARC slot of the TV.
It went pretty well after resetting all cables (I didn't even know you could reset those damn cables). Then I had to work away from home for a week, I took my laptop and when I got home I had to reset those cables.

    • @honzaklos

I think the issue in my case was between the OCB and the TV. Using the shorter OCB-TV cable improved things, but the dropouts still happened, albeit less frequently.

    • @honzaklos
      @honzaklos 8 місяців тому +1

There must be several issues at play. I preordered my S95C and got one of the very early EU-made (Hungary/Slovakia) ones. According to the forums, the issue was much more prevalent on the older ones (and newer ones have even visual differences in the OCB), so maybe that got fixed eventually?
Honestly, for 40gbps+, I would avoid copper cables longer than 1.5m altogether, regardless of TV.

The specific issue aside, everything about a Samsung TV is crap quality. There is just no two ways about it. Nothing to do with image etc it is all about crappy materials, crappy QA, crapy software and so on. Ignore the warnings and be ready for a world of pain. I have the S95B and it's propably the sadest, biggest fail story of the history of TV making. Started from top notch picture quality and is degraded to 900 nits LG C series level quality. Bottom line is , majority of this is just marketing. You need to wait 5 years to see drastic difference in tv quality. Also g3 is like 400 nits more than g2 and that’s significantly brighter yet on yearly basis what do you expect tvs to do? They can’t magically look apart . A95k and 95l , s95b and 95c , same applies to them. G2 to g3 is big enough upgrade for reviewers to call it brighter than s95c. I remember when 95b came, everyone was wowed by its brightness. But those same reviewers now call g3 the brightest oled. Whatever tv you buy on yearly basis, you won’t feel that different
