This is not a engine killer at all b.c. it's a non interference engine and so the pistons wont hit the valves, even if they stay full open after the spring is gone. The pistons and rods are even good for 7800RPM before you need to change them and thats also for a car that is driven hard on the track. People allways tell "nah, you cant" or "it's impossible" but they never testet it. My numbers are testet over years and proven fact.

My brother taught me to always turn my hand over, so my palm is facing the passenger side of the car, when I shift from third to fourth. It forces you to line up straight to go into fourth and avoid this very thing from happening.
I honestly let the shifter keep itself centered and just guide it down. Since 5/6 speeds are neutral-centric and 3-4th is in the center, it just works.
I grip it with my hand on the right side of the shifter for first and second, with my palm on top of it for 3rd and 4th, and with my palm slightly on the left for 5th and 6th, if I had a sixth gear :')
Doing that when shifting to 6th since I was mishifting pretty often after switching from a 5-gear car. Never had issues with 3 to 4 though since they both are at the neutral position. Except once in an ancient GAZ-24 with a loose shifter, but the synchro warned me about that immediately. :D

Since this was my first car I learned stick on, I just kept fudging my tranny up when I first got it on the highway, and kept forgetting I was already maxed out in 6th, but because my car is so much louder than I was used to, I kept thinking I was still in 4th and "shifting up" back down to 5th 🤦🏻♂️🤣 Only times I've ever money shot my trans is when I try going 6th-4th and accidentally jump to 2nd 😵 Thankfully I've always put the clutch right back in when I feel the car start rearing up. That happens in every single car enthusiast. 2 weeks ago i dod same thing in my dad’s mr2 zzw30. I wanted to put 2nd when accelrating but i ve put on neutral lol
I just don't understand how this happens. I know I'm jinxing myself and I'll find out firsthand.
U shift up and down right, so when u are shifting, say from 2nd-3rd, u are meant to tweak it slightly to the right then up. Sometimes u underestimate the tweak, and shift BACK to 1st instead.
Prevention is better than cure, to prevent this, try not to put urself in high RPM situations where u are at the redline, that gives u enough time to correct the mistake.
The cure is, clutch back in the moment u hear the revs fly up. When in doubt, clutch back in u ll be fine.
Lucky that thing revs to the moon.
God, I can smell the clutch from here 😂
No you can’t that didn’t do anything to the clutch
It's always people who be doin that most that end up in these situations. Lmao
Certified miat moment
Thats my mom pulling outta the parking lot in middle school
Is still running good?
Yup! Gotta love the Miatas! Just prepping for the 2019 season now.
@@MJinCP it's like honda civics d16. I money shifted mine to 10krpm (redlines to 7200) I pulled the engine apart to make sure. Nothing was wrong with it at all) and it still drives everyday
Its a miata, of course its ok
How much money did he make from that shift though?
i like how youre wearing a helmet but have no hard top or roll cage.
Bro forgot and thought he was driving a mazda 121.
palm should be on the other side of the shifter for a 3-4 shift
That tach dipped something serious!!
I don't see no money shift?
i money shifted the same way once key is to flick into 4th
The way u move your hands when you turn is going to cause you to crash if you ever have to make a correction
This is the microsoft background now... feel old yet?
He found the secret gear
I think he’s shuffling the wheel cuz his hands would hit his knee if he didn’t.
Dude handled it well
People really don't understand what money shift means. This was a miss shift. You didn't break anything that cost you money.
I'm smooth brained, what happened?
What car is this and the specs. Wow
It’s a Miata
Read title
Mazda Miata
It’s a Mazda mx-5 which others call it a Miata, it’s a common name good luck finding one cheap though

Ads on a sub 3 min clip should be criminal
People from Europe who drive cars with manual transmissions all their lives
I’m glad there was no damage!!
That's nothing compared to your average Civic money shift.
They pretty much just blow up, and send you into the wall.
The only damage he did here was the bent tacho needle when it revved 8km past the red line.
I always palm down, never push or pull.
i made the same mistake in my mazda 2 and transmission was ok but my friend in his opel corsa did this and broke the transmission
Doesn’t go into 4th so he said ‘alright 2nd then’
I cant moneyshift my Matrix XRS because my worn out trans wont even let me into 1st gear unless im at like 5mph haha.
Is it a money shift, if you can still drive it? I dont think so
that’s definitely not what that means buddy lmfao
@@niallcorcoran4437 Bro it actually isn’t a true money shift because he didn’t have to bust out the wallet to fix anything.
@@wrandom4932 its called a money shift because generally it isn’t cheap to mis-shift... its just called that even when nothing grenades because you immediately know what a money shift is, otherwise you wouldn’t be here... right?
money shifting a rotary isnt so bad though
That 6th gear can be tricky!
I was more worried about your hand on the wheel
*While coasting the plains of Windows XP
It's not a money shift if th engine is still running afterwards.
