I had a dirt devil stick. Hated unplugging it and finding a new plug. 6 different times in my place.... just bought the dyson v10 and had to constantly empty the bin. Not because the dyson was bad, but because there was that much debris in my carpet. Now I love to vacuum. No cords. No weird moves to get in the corners.

Good simple review. It always cracks me up when I see reviews of people complaining about the beater bars on different models failing after a few uses or months. They try to use these things as if it was a regular upright vacuum and then wonder why the thing stopped working hahaha. I'm going on two years with a Dirt Devil SD22020. Its been nothing short of reliable and its performance is perfect for its intended purpose.

It sounds like some of these manufacturers should not even put out a new model without consulting someone like you first. Matter of fact they might do well to hire you full time! I've been burned numbers of times by crap vacuums and imho the vast majority of vacuums on the market would be best melted down to reuse the plastic! I've bought cheap and I've bought expensive. Not a single one I've been happy with although I will say for the money a Bissell upright I have is decent for the price point, but has some annoying flaws such as way too short of hose for attachments which is very common among many vacuums. I also detest too short of a cord. I like 50 feet for a cord preferably and 25 ft. is ridiculously short. I am a professional carpet cleaner of many years and get to see how vacuums either perform or fail to perform in real life. Example, recently cleaned for a customer with 2 long haired dogs. I got almost no hair out of her carpet and asked her what vacuum she used. It was the Dyson V-8. I can pretty much tell you it outperformed many uprights on the market that I've seen leave a ton of dog hair in the carpet. I was impressed and that doesn't happen often! Certain Shark models have also impressed me. I will never buy some of these super expensive vacuums because basically you're paying for a name and not necessarily performance. Btw, the last time I owned a Dirt Devil it was so incredibly bad I vowed to never purchase another and I keep my promises. Sometimes I wonder just how much actual thought and time a manufacturer takes before they put out yet another vacuum that also does not work like it should.

Thanks for this. I got burned by my Bissell Clearview. Two years later, the motor is ridiculously loud (squeals for no reason-- every job has been light), and oftentimes it doesn't pick up anything even though the filter is clean, the canister is empty... no clogs. Tired of "regular" vacuums. Going to try the Eureka as I never really need to vacuum an insane amount of floor. Mostly just need the whole handheld mode for small jobs. Thanks again.

I know this is old but wanted to add my comment in case anyone else watches this. I have the Bissell and hate it. You literally have to lift it up to suck almost anything up, and it does get clogged constantly. Plus keep the cord lengths in mind. 15 ft sounds long but it's tiny.

I bought a dirt devil 3 in 1 Stick used at Goodwill for about 15 bucks and wound up donating it back later. I wish I had not done that. But then, I found another one just like it (that also had the crevice tool) in the dumpster. There was nothing wrong with it! I still got it.
Since 2014, I have found about 2 dozen vacuums in or by our dumpsters. Most of them I was able to salvage, and then keep, give away online, to relatives or the Goodwill.

And the head is more narrow when storage space and clearance is a problem. The easiest one to use might not be the winner. I would definitely try the others based on your review :)

When I find various vacuums on the side of the road that people throw out in their trash, I have found one brand I don't even bother to take and repair, and that's Dirt Devil. Every one of their models are junk. The designs, materials and short-cutting is always evident. If someone gave me one, I'd give it back. Many Bissell and Eureka models I have found to be well built and reliable. Dyson is WAAAY too complicated in design, let alone expensive, and Electrolux is OK used if you pay little to nothing. People throw these out (all brands) because they simply don't clean them. Filters and brushes are forever dirty. I take them, clean them out and clean the filters and they work fine. Some machines even have 3 filters, so even if they clean 1 or 2, they miss the 3rd. I'm not out to sell one brand over another or dump any, but some brands are just continually awful or at least don't last long, while others are well built and a pleasure to use. I don't apologize talking against Dirt Devil though. YUK!

Tonight I saw the Bissell model 2030 for $26.99 at Walmart which is very similar to the one in this video, model 2033. The only difference I can tell without comparing the specs is that the model 2030 has a clear canister so you can see when it gets full of debris. Do you know of any other differences? We only use Dyson because every other vacuum filter clocks within five minutes and loses 90% of their suction have to clean the filter every five minutes to get any good option I’d like you to do test fine fine sand filters get clogged then do A suction test

In your opinion does the dirt devil feel sturdy for heavy use and did you like it better than the bissell

Yeah its pretty sturdy, and I did like it much better than the Bissell. but at this price you cant expect them to last forever.
