  • This was a crazy 3d print. We printed a tenor sax "synthetic" reed from a free share website. It was awful, but the flaw could have been with the design or our printer. Who knows....but it made my sax sound broken.

Procure vazamentos embaixo da palheta, talvez um pouco de lixamento funcione. Também estou testando uma palheta impressa e percebi isso.

I just did a run of 10 tenor sax mouthpiece designs for a student and I was wondering if you would be interested in testing a few of the prototypes and letting me know if you like or would change anything about them, I'll send you all the files and as long as you dont sell them your welcome to keep printing them forever. I can also do you a few custom ones as a thank you. I'm not a sax player but I am a product and prototyping designer.

That's really great! I'd be happy to print them. I am at the mercy of my school's 3D printer so I'm not sure when I'd get around printing them. But, when I do, I'll let you know how they play.

Where would you like me to send the files. I'll also include instructions and images so you can pick and choose which ones to start with.

I would be interested in testing your prototypes. I recently printed about 30 different mouthpieces in PLA. Refacing the table and curve after printing is the most important part of getting a 3D printed mouthpiece to play. There are always layer lines that need to be finished smooth. I placed an elliptical facing curve on my mouthpieces and they play great. Do your models have a baffle in them? Hope to hear back from you Austin. Take care!

I printed mine at .05 layer height and vertical ( tip up ) this stregthens the collar and gives the most detail and least noticable layer lines. when i 3d modeled the tips i did 10 different types one set with a bevel and 3 chamber differences and 3 standard with the different chambers. I also did 4 other experimental ones that with the assistance of AI for the wave manipulation math and the reed dimentions based on the variance between natural reed and PLA. I would happily let you test them and the reeds as long as you dont drop them online or sell them. they are covered under the creative commons laws.
