@@0505121968 that's mostly a matter of correspondence between spelling and pronunciation. Spanish is spelled phonetically so when you hear it it's easier to visualise the word spelled out and translate it mentally into Portuguese, but it doesn't work the other way round because Portuguese pronunciation is more all over the place :)

@@charliefoxtrotsky4104 I knew you had to be close to the Midwest lol, I feel like people on the coasts tend to use the same slant due to so much travel between California and New York perhaps? 🤔 But I'm a little surprised it's not used in Texas, but maybe you're right I'm 24 so it could just be something I picked up from music and other kids my age

@@amirconley8569 i suspect you're exactly right about the common travel between NY and CA. And yes, slang tends to not only be regional, or based on the countries culture or language but also based on age groups. I'm your fathers age, so the slang I use we could expect to be different than that used by late teens/early twenties.

It’s more difficult for a Spanish speaker to understand a Portuguese speaker than the other way round, due to the pronunciation….Spanish only has 5 vowels, always clearly pronounced, whereas Portuguese has many more sounds.
