In this tutorial I will demonstrate how to make a lovely zipper bag. I will show you how to make this bag on a regular sewing machine and also a serger machine. This is a perfect project for you to use up your scrap fabric.

I love these zipper bags. But can you do a video in which you add some tabs on the side and make a purse? Maybe some rope like string? Oh, and I would LOVE to see a crossbody bag!!

I use 1/4" quilters tape to hold the zipper in place. Makes it so much easier than pins.

I love making these like cases! They go together so quickly! I only use my sewing machine! I have a serger, but never really got the hang for using it. Thanks for another great video, Sherrill!

I like these bags very much, great tutorial! I think I will do a combination of my regular machine and the serger as I have never done a zipper on the serger. I will give it a shot though now that I have seen you do it.
That’s what I was thinking - use my machine to place and topstitch the zipper and the serger for the sides 👍🏼.

I make different types of bags, I’ve never used an overcast stitch, just a zipper foot with straight stitch for the top. I never unzip the zipper to top stitch either. But to edge stitch, I unzip the zipper enough after I’ve sewed the ends, which I do first by attaching tabs. That way the zipper can’t move. Then i pull it right size out through the zipper. I don’t mean to say that I know better, I’ve never seen it done this way before. To each his own, I like to see other ways of doing things.

Great zipper tutorial...I've been trying to figure out how to sew zippers that way. What about turning off the cutting feature on the serger for the zipper? 💜
