Thank you so much. I love your voice. You educate so well. I just did my pencil sketch & on my dog, I did pic my favorite picture, so far so good. I love how you use different colors especially with black instead of just using gray & white for highlights on black dogs. I do want to read your book. This is just a hobby for me. But you being a servant to this community is so helpful for those of us interested, I also use painting for a stress relief & honestly give them away for presents. Maybe some day I'll start charging but it's a part of me my friends and family will always have with them. God bless you and your work is absolutely beautiful.

Jennifer you're so sweet to take the time to post this. I appreciate you! Thank you! You never know what God has instore with your "hobbies" though. I always thought art was just something I did on the side too, well, look at me now. Definitely listen to those passions. I hope to inspire them further in you! God Bless.

    Little nitpick:
When talking about certain points say personality or style, it would be nice to see some of your artwork that displays that aspect :)

I am very interested in your book. I’m a stay at home mom of four children. I struggle with autoimmune issues and I’m trying to get back into creating artwork. I can sketch animals fairly easily but I’m intimidated about painting them. I make modern calligraphy signs and wooden Christmas & animal ornaments but my family and friends are strongly encouraging me to try pet portraits. They see my talent, which is very uplifting. I adore animals and I think this would be such a blessing for my mental and physical state. As well as possible earning some much needed extra income. What advice do you have for someone like myself? I’m having a tough year as I’m on week 7 of COVID pneumonia. I want to go back to creating artwork and help fill my spirit and heal my soul. Your channel is so helpful. I’m a bit intimidated by your amazing work. I’m also a bit nervous where to begin. There is a company that needs freelance pet portrait artist but I don’t have a portfolio. I was an elementary school teacher who had a double major in Fine Arts. Should I just be honest with them? Or should I create some pieces, sketch, charcoal and acrylic to send along with my back story. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you, be well ~ Jody C. Boston , MA

Jod, I'm so sorry to hear about your poor illness and pain, and with four children, that must be such a challenge. I just want to say, you should have seen my artwork when I first started my business! I started with wood signs, can you believe it? Nothing to do with animal fine art, infact, I didn't even think I could paint, I just knew I loved to create and I wanted my own business, that's where my heart started. I just keep seeking the Lord and creating what I loved. I'd work at it little bit each day. Your path will definitely look very different from mine, but I know the common denominator is trusting that the Lord will use your hands for his great work! I was a total mess when I first started too. Heavy in addiction, super insecure, completely broke! It's only because of the Lord that Im able to support my family and being healthier mentally to manage it with children. That is NOT me, that is our great Lord at work! You can do it too I know it!

    Quick question
What kind of brushes should I get to start with acrylics? I’m trying to make a portrait of my dogs

Masterstouch and benecci brand are pretty good quality brushes. Get a pack so you can get all different sizes of brushes. Large and small. Detail brushes all the way up to large flat brushes.

Hands down UA-cam. Without a doubt. I've been learning so much lately about UA-cam marketing and it just makes so much sense, plus 90% of my Masterclass students find me on UA-cam searches. Social media is great, but I wouldn't make that a priority honestly. Etsy, is fantastic if you really pay attention to trends and key terms, it's not hard and very possible to thrive on Etsy, but only if you're willing to work at it a little bit each day.
