This wasn't from the acoustic show. This is a bonus track on the DVD for the Feb 11th 2021 online Okyu-ji (during covid). The acoustic show was on Xmas day last. They didn't wear their maid battle armour, but they had colour matching outfits. They did do Smile. It has been released on CD but only to fan club members. So join the fan club! (No DVD yet though). Smile is a love song to the fans - lyrics by Miku - about seeing the fans smile while onstage, hence 'Your smile makes me happy' 'It's a special view'. Beautiful isn't it? Those damn onions.
Many Masters and Princesses wondered if the band would rearrange the song Smile into an acoustic track as it is a love song from the band to the fans in the early days. Our prayers were answered with this masterpiece.
I recently got the CD from the Christmas acoustic show, and just like this song, I think the overall star is -Asami- Saiki. Her voice is showcased so well, from her polished power to her delicate moments. I feel like there are times where Sai-chan is taken for granted or overshadowed in a song because MISA, Akane, and Kanami are so skilled and Miku has such a big personality, so it's nice to see her ability and charisma put in a more obvious spotlight.
Saiki's & Miku's vocals together have such an inane ability to drag the emotions out of our inner selves. So beautiful. One thing I like throughout the clip is the little looks, glances, nods & little smiles from Kanami, as she appreciates the way the other maids are performing the music that she gives them. She is always such a happy little soul.

They really are the band of my dreams. The Christmas acoustic opened with this and it's just as amazing as this one. I really can't decide between the two. Not that it matters, it's B-M. The most important thing in this song is the lyrics. A song of thanks from BAND-MAID to the fans. "The beginning is a small dream story" is beginning of BAND-MAID.
Is Saiki a fantastic, incredible singer or isn't she? 😉 We could talk about how awesome the bass, the drums or the guitars sound the whole day and rightly so, but for me, she's the star in this. Thanks!
As others have pointed out, this isn't from their Christmas acoustic serving, but an add-on to last year's (edit: February 11, 2021) live stream. "Smile" was written by Kentarō Akutsu with lyrics by Miku Kobato. It is the B side of the "Bubble" single, released January 16, 2019. Akutsu wrote half the songs on their initial release "Maid in Japan" and the band seems to have maintained a good relationship with him. Many listeners focus on loud and fast, but slow and quiet is actually much much harder to play - on piano, on guitar, on brass, or singing. It is hard to find musicians who can play with quiet intensity. The gentle up and down between the verse and chorus in this song is subtle but very deliberate, and Akane is one of the reasons. And MISA - what is there to say? She has such a great feel.
It is also a bonus track on the DVD/bluRay of the Online Okyu-Ji. Still available, if no where else, at CD Japan and on eBay. Now I see Davey Boyd said that above.

This is actually not from the acoustic show on Christmas 2021. You will know when you see them wearing civilian duds instead of their "battle clothes" (what the call their maid outfits).
An other givaway is the beautiful view in the Cristmas acoustic instead of this black background. It's a bit of a shame they decided to remove that one outtake from their channel (カタルシス / Catharsis). It would be a good way to show people how the concert was and I don't think it would have diminished any sales of the CD or the hopefully upcoming DVD/Blu-ray. But maybe they only want to keep that playing in "normal" clothes as a special thing with no official way to rewatch it. I will keep hoping for a DVD/Blu-ray release though even though I get the feeling they don't want it to exist.

@@Davey-Boyd I have the CD as well and I was relatively sure that they were going to do a DVD/Blu-ray release when the stream just released. But them removing the excerpt from their youtube channel makes me feel like they might not want for people to be able to rewatch it or something (too emberassed by not being in their battle gear?). It would be crazy to not use the commentary and that beautiful footage for a DVD/Blu-ray release though. I have ripped the stream myself, so I can rewatch it if needed, but I want an official way to be able to watch it back in better quality. I would buy that Blu-ray in a heartbeat, it is probably my favourite of their live shows and that comes from someone who is typically not as much in their softer/slower music.
This song was written for their fans. The lyrics will open up a whole new window for you. One of their best even with the amazingly huge competition for that spot.
This was not from the Christmas acoustic show. It was from a live stream but was not included in the original live stream. It was added as a bonus to the DVD. I'm sure that was clear as mud. For acoustic performances, Puzzle acoustic is a must-see. It was from the same show as Anemone acoustic. A double-header of Puzzle live and Puzzle acoustic live will blow your mind. Puzzle is one of their hardest rocking songs but then they strip it all the way down to just Kanami and Saiki for the acoustic. Amazing!
Fantastic! This song has been a sought after rarity on You Tube, as you said enjoy it while it lasts. Smile was the opening track on the Christmas acoustic concert (an even better version if that's possible!), while this is from an older performance, where I assume they did one or two acoustic numbers. I just hope they eventually release the Christmas concert version officially, it's a signature track and deserves a lot more exposure.
One of my favourite....just pure class, exceptional quality of emotions and heartfelt love expressed. Just watching and listening to them definitely elevate the self to the highest plateaus of pure smile!

There are many different thicknesses of rods. The acoustic show, from how it was explained, she used much thinner ones referred to as "whip sticks" by one major brand and "hot rods" by another. There is another set up with fewer, but thicker rods, called "thunder rods" which is what I believe these are a type of.
This song is so great, but it really comes into its own as a live acoustic. And the bass in this... Wow. Far from Misa's best showcase of her talents, but man can you can really feel it in this rendition.
Even though this isn't from the Christmas show it's still a greati example of Saiki and Kobato's harmonies. Hopefully they make the show available again eventually because it was very laid back in a spectacular kind of way. Plus the secondary stream where the band commented on every song was really entertaining
