    What a great video Mark!
For those of you who do struggle with getting hold of MRE’s or the Army Ration Packs. There are also really great dried meal options in outdoor stores where all is needed is to add boiling water to the food and mix like a pot noodle or to place the bag in to boiling water.
Little bit pricier because they are separate meals but same principle!

At events without catering my group usually splits the tasks for mealprep. We do have a designated cook as well, who is an absolute life saver, but of course, he doesn't do everything on his own. Having a good sized group also minimises waste and storage issues. Also we split who brings and prepares what. That does create the issue that we have to take differing budgets and transportation options into account, but so far we have always managed to find a common solution.

Some great advice and thank you for sharing your experience.
I have had some great social interactions around a campfire cooking a group meal 😋.
If you can find the right group of people it's great fun. The problems come when you get some people who just turn up to quickly eat and run off again and complain that there wasn't enough or it was not to their taste.

@@MarkWhiteTheLarpGuide yes, that would be annoying. Though we do have some group members who's characters are often expected to be available, so it's okay for us if they don't help as much.
Also one of the traditions in my group is the "chair for the fallen". We keep a chair in our camp that has the names of all of our lost group members burnt in. Whoever puts something on that chair or sits on it has to do the dishes for the day

The way a couple of friends of mine do it that I only had the chance to camp with once did it quite well. We made a spreadsheet before, grouped us into teams of 2-3 people per day and decided beforehand what team cooks what. We then had a time each day for which we would prepare it and afterwards would leave it in a big pot. If you weren't there we made sure to save you some, but could be cold. But with other groups we would just all eat from the shops every day. With my group for the big event for this year there's one who will cook for all but we all pay for the food and everyone except for her has to do the dishes each day etc. But that is quite luxerios in my opinion. Dividing into groups is totally fine in my opinion. And you'll allways have leftovers to offer to your neighbors/visitors etc.
The biggest issue in my opinion is allways cooling. No electricity means food goes bad. Last time we actually had a solar pannel + camping fridge, but again, that was very luxurious.

Thank you for sharing this 😊 and congratulations on pulling off the hardest style of food at a Larp.
We found for cooling food a good cooler box filled with some freezer bloxs works wonders for keeping food cold 🥶. We tired it with ice 🧊 but it had melted by the end of the first day the bloxs last for an entire weekend event.
Sharing out the cost and work is definitely a great idea and having that organised before the event makes it all so much easier.
