- In case you missed it, in August of this year there were more than 8 billion of us on the planet. Although seven billion or eight - the difference is no longer felt, right? But how do you like this fact? In 1804 there were only one billion people on the planet! But why dig so deep? Just half a century ago, in 1974, there were only 4 billion people on the planet. Two times less than now! Isn't it growing too fast? It is good that the achievements of science so far allow us to solve the question of “how to feed and water so many people”. But there is another nuance - what to do with so much waste? You would say - “not a big deal, I sort the garbage, all my waste is recycled.” Hmm, we have bad news for you!

If so much is going to landfills/incinerators anyway, we should just end curbside recycling altogether and save a lot of money wasted on collection and processing. Then, go back to having paper and aluminum collection drives for material that can actually be recycled economically.
Think about how much money they would lòose form recycling fees they charge
What im missing is the information about the usage of plastic over the years.
Plastic especially single use must be ban world wide !,
Best to cut way back & recycle, and repurpose.

The title is quite exaggerating. Plastic recycling isn't a myth. It doesn't solve the whole problem either.
It is. Chemically it is not possible. Any mixed plastic is burned. Only 2% of plastics is recycled. What do you call that?
We have had go back to nature plastics for a while now but no legislation to make there use compulsory. Time to vote green.
Second all of us should buy an expensive permenently re-usable drink bottle and use it for years. To make this happen all sodas etc. should be despensed in soda fountains only, no more bottles of any sort will be sold.
Products with excessive plastic packaging should be banned from store shelves and fines taken from the packaging company.
