Pact of negation with only one blue has got to be the biggest brain play we'll see in a while.
at 22:06, since the ringbearer can't be blocked by higher power, and your saga gave your creatures double strike, you could have just made Tom the ringbearer and swung in for lethal. Jodah made his board too big to block anything power 5 or less
There was a Koma's Coil in the way of that plan. The opponent would, presumably, not just give CGB lethal and so they don't sac it to lock down the 9/9.
@@Kestral287 the opponent already sacrificed the coil to tap down the 9/9 enchantment creature
@@alphamew1773 they did that only after CGB chose the ring bearer. Besides, they could just block with the coil and sac it during combat to make Koma indestructible instead
Nevermind, he could have done that at 22:16. He had lethal in more than one way, though, so ultimately it doesn't matter

I pulled ol Tommy B in a free pack and have been excitedly waiting for you to build this to see your take on it! So far it’s absolute chaos and I pull off wins when I have no business winning. Other times I get wrecked if the mana doesn’t line up right but it’s a blast
I think the 2 mana Enchantment Creature which gives other enchantments +1/+1 and would let you copy effects would be good here.

@@andfriends11 no way, counter manipulation to use final saga ability, keep saga in play and copy with weaver is pretty nuts.
MAN that mana tithe in game 2 was beautiful. People always tell me mana tithe sucks unless you play it really early. This proves yet again that is nonsense, and people do not expect a counterspell when you have no blue open. Bet poor opponent could not believe this is happening

Quick tip, when you don’t know what to name with long list, go for coward.
My favorite pick, too. And it can mess with the opponent if they didn't know that was actually a creature type 🤣🤣🤣
When I brewed my Calix deck I put that shroud card at first. And in the very first game I played and couldn't put counters on my creatures since I played only enchantment creatures. Mistake was quickly to realise.

The first LotR HB deck I decided to make was the Balrog and it's pretty good and SUPER fun! Been smashing the opponents to bits lol

13:58 did you consider letting Tom go to the graveyard and then bringing him back with Cruelty of Gix (jump straight to the 3rd chapter)? Free Tom out of the graveyard and triggers a free saga in one play.

@@davison2003 :D you don't want it. I had a few good games initially but now I seem to get steam rolled by agro almost every time. Honestly until they do something about Ragavan historical brawl isn't too much fun.
@@1984kylea Agreed. Agro is super annoying and they need to deal with ragavan asap. Thanks anyway because I would've built it if I didn't know about the rakdos agro problem

As fun as Saga tribal is, wouldn't it be just as fun to have Tom Bombadil be a Prison/Pillowfort commander, which is also on theme with the LoTR lore?
i guess you can run some goodstuff prison enchantments that syngergize with some other goodstuff enchantment effects but if you dont play enough sagas then why would you still play tom, wouldnt make sense anymore, then you can also play aragorn as a goodstuff commander
@@xxXDrManhattanXxx I meant WotC could've designed a different Tom Bombadil card. Maybe a version that gives shroud seeing as in the book, Tom wasn't affected by the Ring at all.

Im really suprised you didn't include the only other saga commander they ever printed, satsuki living lore
She can only be activated at sorcery speed, though. Goldberry is better because she can remove counters too, so you keep the saga on the battlefield for extra value and buy time to resolve Tom before the last chapter resolves. Also Satsuki needs to die for her other ability to trigger, so she's not as versatile
I have a good video idea. You could do Ragavan but attach the ring in some way. Then he would be almost unblockable and you could easily steal and poke at them. I even have a name Ringavan!😋

The Rat Colony only deck makes me unreasonably happy
I think Go Shintai of Life Origin would be a good addition to the deck, it lets you cast sagas from the graveyard and it gets insane value
22:20 even though opponent didn't block, you missed lethal. You could have simply stolen the Koma's Serpent and make Tom your Ring-Bearer. Remember it says "Your Ring-bearer can't be blocked by creatures with greater power." So yea, 5/5 doble strike unblockable hexproof indestructible to the face.

he had 2 chances to do this too. when the opponent tapped his boseju he got another chance to pick a ring bearer and just put it on the saga again instead of tom i cant XD

I built a Tom Bombadil deck in Historic Brawl as well, but I stacked it with counterspells+ramp, this allows the sagas to pop off due to how slow they are, the ramp allows you to play Tom when you have counterspells available when the opponent hits turn 5. You basically prevent the opponent from destroying your best sagas or Tom and have a good chance of winning.

A potential ENDLESS loop with BINDING OF THE OLD GODS at around 36:10 ??? Why don't you leave goldberry untapped and pass turn. Then at end step, move the one lore counter from goldberry onto a land you control. Then before you draw for turn, remove a lore counter from binding of the old gods with goldberry...then you can get another activation of chapter one, destroying a non land permanent. Or am I missing something here?? If that wasn't busted enough, you get to draw off goldberry's second ability.

Mom praetors all have their own different gameplan and you may never get a chance to flip some of them. Also Tom will never go find any of them off of his ability.

Weird to me to not have Nesting Grounds in the list - while a colorless land can make things awkward in a 5 color deck, this is a deck that really benefits from it overall, since it does very similar things to Goldberry, just less awkwardly at the cost of not drawing cards.

Decided to try historic brawl for the first time with this deck. 6/6 games were counter spell tribal. Immediately quit and likely won't be back. Terrible experience.
i mean if you gave up after 6 games you didn't give it much of a shot. especially since you couldve just conceded if you didn't want to play against counter spells. you do you tho i guess, cant really blame the format though

You probably still wouldn't have won but it would have taken longer to lose
Yeah, the horn drew them a free rat and reduced costs enough to play 4 rats in one turn. He'd've been facing 3 rats and no horn at 21 vs 3 rats and a horn at 25. Not enough life saved to justify letting them keep something makes dumping and refilling their hand trivial.

Here is the reason I HATE Brawl and Commander - Every turn is 7 boring hours .. Im not alone Just so D Darn boring waiting .. I can make dinner, go poo, walk 15 dogs and Bake a 23 layer cake before its my turn
magic arena is unplayable.. because the system either doesn't work well or there is manipulation to make you buy gems and spend money.. unfortunately i can't do anything now i think this way... better to play paper magic. ..

I think battle of frost and fire is a bad card for this deck. Best case you hit it when you need it but Tom dies. Worst case it’s a one sided board wipe that makes you lose the game
best case is when you need it and tom is indestructible (had this happen several times) worst case is it loses you the game however that seems extremely rare to me. out of about 30 games so far its won be 5-6 games and lost me 1. i say that risk factor is worth it. is there a better card? maybe but i wont cut it just on the off chance it screws me once in a blue moon
