- Options Trading particularly option buying is a hazardous segment. SEBI study done on individual F&O traders says 89% of options traders are lost. Also, those making profits go on to pay a brokerage of 15% to 50% of profits.
So those who are making money are not earning that well amount as a big pool of newbie traders who engage in options trading. That is all about the SEBI report. But recently Broker Sharekhan also did a pan India survey on options traders.
There were a few questions asked in the survey and people as per their intuition answered about them. When they were asked why they thought of coming into the option-buying segment, 40% of new option traders stated they did option trading to earn quick money.
44% said that they treat options trading as their second source of income while the set of 12% said they do option trading for sheer pleasure of thrill.
When traders were asked how many people do you think to make consistent profit in option buying 14% said 50% to 70% of people earn good profit in option buying while 48% stated that 30 to 50% of people make good returns in options trading.
Yes, such large expectations are not well-founded. Most options traders lose money and sometimes even leave the market forever. When traders were asked on which basis they decided to execute a trade-in option buying, some said they do based on social media, some said on the suggestion of family and friends and a meagre 2% said they do on the advice of a broker.
There was another sort of question too. But sure short question, is option buying profitable or can be profitable? The answer is yes. How? The answer is in the SBEI report. As per the SEBI report majority of profitable and loss-making traders engage in overtrading and that either broaden their losses or pinches their profits.
Also, the majority of traders don’t understand the option segment at all. They don’t have basic knowledge of ITM, OTM, ATM or Greeks. Some even don’t know that on the expiry a contract becomes zero.
So to become profitable people have to learn about options trading properly. They have to learn about trading psychology, risk and reward ratios, and strategies.

Thats why they say start small.. 20 or 30 k se start kr skte.. kisi ne nhi kaha k 8-10 lakh lae j aao.. wahan bhi huge fee structure hota coaching ka.. time and money sab jata hai sab jagah.. par financial markets mein sirf paisa aur time nhi chahiye.. khud pe bhi kaam krna padta hai.. so it is more difficult.. just like CA and IAS har kisi k liye nhi hai.. waise hi yeh markets bhi har kisi k liye nhi hai..

Very good content, but only SEBI is responsible for the losses of retail traders by eliminating the margin rule. Traders doing option buying only due to lesser capital, earlier they were doing futures during pre margin rule periods where bracket order or oco and cover order type system existed for limited risks.
SEBI has done a very good thing to curb speculation and embezzlement of funds by stockbrokers who dupe their clients just to earn brokerage. But if these people can't change their habit then they should suffer

The main issue with retail traders is they think, in trading especially in options they can trade on a regular basis. It is fatal. Trade the obvious. Out of say 250 days if you trade on very trending days you will stay profitable. Example if you even trade like 20 days with good RR ratio you will end up in green. Jo karna impossible hai woh usko km karo na return acha milega.
Challenge is you need the skill of analysing to detect trending days which is achievable

Options Sellers running for cover is the simplest example of the Options buyers making money. Since the last few years, there has been lots of Short covering rallies which indicates that the counterparty i.e a buyer made money. Watch the video titled - The infamous Hedge fund apology video which explains how an Hedge fund lost their capital due to an event. So both Sellers and buyers too make money in the markets. Markets can never be one sided all the time.😎😎😎

1st.. find ur setup and practice only one lot for some months and only buy atm or ITM call or put,
2nd STOPLOSS is must.. always book if stoploss hit, never fight with cover losses.

I made initially 1.7 lakhs in month with 1.5 lakh capital,,then i became overconfident and start taking huge quantities of call or put options 20 lots miniumum ,,greed for money increased day by day,,intially i used to earn 5k daily then 10k and then aimed for more...and then market started taking control over me slowly ,,started hunting my stoploss and made me angry and made me to overtrade and then i lost around 6 lakhs in less than 3 months..its psycholoigcal game..ur mindset shud be strong and disciplined to earn money daily..the max limit of ur earnings shud be according to my experinece 3k daily with 50k capital and exit do ur work..then ull be among that 9 % of profitable traders...this message is for option buyers who learnt everything in option trading not for beginners..this game is not gambling..

Option buying is profitable.
1. If you take trade in intraday after seeing volume base or trap trading. Will accept SL also sometime.
2. More profitable when call ñ put writing difference are big. Take trades on rounding bottom formation after seeing price action on indices. One trade can change ur destinations in mkt.

When I listen this I fascinate 😅....2018 mei market mei aya tha and options exists bhi karte hai aisa kuch nahi pata tha mei toh normal equity trading karta tha swing and intraday mei 😊 2 se 2.5 saal toh aisehi kiya 2021 tak, so jyada loss bhi nahi kiya and equity mei profitable bhi bangaya and hath jam gaya tha thora bohot un dino mei uske baad mujhe options k bare mei pata chala 😂 so meine options mei enter kiya and as meine 2.5 saal equity mei trading kar k breakeven to profitable ban chuka tha toh options mei jyada takleef nahi hua and dhire dhire udhar bhi thik ho gaya as bara loss nahi kiya kyu ki stoploss toh option mei ane se pehlei equity mei hi lagata tha so options buying mei koi dikkat nahi hua .....but wahi sochta hu abhi jitne log aarahe hai sab sidha options mei kud rahe hai ,so obviously loss toh karengai ....kabhi kabhi kuch chijo k bare mei kam pata hona bhi sahi hota hai , agar 2018-19 mei options k bare mei pata hota toh bohot losses hi karta 😂. 2021 mei bhi jab meine options mei suru kiya toh full 1year sirf 1 lot se hi trade karta tha jab tak profitable na ban jau uske baad dhire dhire lots baraya 😊 . See the problem is indian market don't respect price action. Mene forex gold m bhi trade kia h n udhar agar ek setup bnta h to everytime uska respect hota h but in indian stock market agar price action use krke set up bante hi trade krte h to ek dam se fake breakout dedeta tha which is actually frustrating and this fake breakout happens so often ki aap ka pura capital chala jayega and this happens because india m logo ko pta hi nhi hota price action nam ki bhi cheez hoti h iske vjhe se har baar price action fail hojata h. Agar hame apne market us jaise ya even forex, gold n crypto jaise krne h to hame trade krne se pehle ye technicals sikhne pdenge jo ki log nhi krte. Still people treat stock market as a gambling ye mindset bdlna pdega.

1. FOMO
2. Not following my setup
3. Not calculating risk before entering
4. Revenge trading
5. Not available in front of screen during my setup formation and missing profitable trades

I've started FnO with small amount. I think that I have gain full knowledge but time shows me I'm a fool.....
I araise the money by pludging my stocks in grow app. There I have loose the money from my ignorance.....see like waise what I not known earlier....
I thought that only 20 Rupee for unpludge.....but app changed 20 Rupees for each company ( I have used 7 company shares).
I had given 50 Rupees penalty in expairy, which is I think that FnO order will be seteld atumitically .
Totaly I lost huge money by my own ignorece. (I like to call it as hidden humbough).
Getting a good job, life partner,house chances are much lesser than 5% . Dont even talk about achieving dreams its much lower. With the amount of risk options contain 5% is a much larger number, m very happy with that ,infact i dont see it as a warning but as a motivation

Video talks about some data points which is good to know but the way the overall video is created is so demotivating...you will have aspiring people in every field and there are ups and downs in every business and profession... important is how are we motivating people...there is always a light to the end of the tunnel....the way it should have been done is ...while there are loss makers...these are some steps that a trader should take to be profitable...not all videos shown in social media is encouraging...sometimes PPL don't know how to deliver the message!!

Till date I've not been able to gather the coursge to buy an option. Im a student so selling options is a dream for me but even for buying , ive never been brave enough to do FNO even though i know the Greeks, support resistance, a tiny bit of option chain analysis , moneyness etc

At first i entered in f&o after seeing speed of candles, some fake screenshots on insta reels.. that time i was not aware about expiries.. i gave up after losing 1.5 lakhs in 10 months in f&o segment.. i suggest all of u to invest money on good stocks. Equity holding is best.. it does not have any weekly/monthly expiry 😅..
