It makes perfect sense depending on her diagnosis, and she may be in on it. If she’s 100% terminal, she’d be wise to fall on her sword, knowing full well that diagnosis means she won’t serve time. Scummy? Yes. Will it work? No. But it’s a valid Hail Mary.
