  • Carrie Fisher, known for her roles in "Star Wars", "When Harry Met Sally", and "Hannah & Her Sisters", as well as her novel "Postcards from the Edge", was in Studio Q to discuss her new memoir and stage show "Wishful Drinking" that covers everything from her other life as Princess Leia to her marriage to Paul Simon.

This interviewer is terrific and this is the best interview I have ever seen with Carrie Fisher. Now that she's passed away they're all on UA-cam and I've been watching them all, and I was blown away by this one. Great questions.

Funny story about this interviewer, he was falsely accused of sexual assault by women he had consensual S&M type sex with. Then, the Toronto star reported it and thus ending his lustrous career as prominent Canadian media figure, this happening before the trial even began and any evidence had yet to be heard. The trial resulted in an acquittal, mainly due to inconsistency in the testimonies of all three of his accusers and evidence of collusion amongst some of them - not to mention a plethora of written and electronic emails submitted by some of the complainants to Jian Ghomeshi often within days of the alleged acts, these included classics such as "I love your hands". Now, much to the chagrin of the social media brigade, he's actually just come out with a new podcast where he is once again provided an outlet to spew his SJW horseshit once again if you're interested.

Q has been terrible ever since he left. He made the show what is was, is an excellent host and had interesting guests covering many genres. What exactly is "SJW" horseshit? And btw, the last woman still stands by her accusations. He had to officially "apologize" to her by court order.

He just started a new podcast called "the Ideation Project" based on the style of the extremely well written and often moving opening essays he would read at the beginning of every episode, those who listened to his era of Q will know what I'm talking about. It's worth checking out, maybe if he gets enough attention he might just come back win an interview podcast. After all, whatever his bedroom antics, he is a phenomenal interviewer.

Very ironic comment from Fisher at 29:00 about hiding things about oneself. Clearly she didn't realize how germane that was given to whom she was speaking. Still, despite his severe personality flaws and warped behaviour, Gomeshi was a very good interviewer most of the time and had a perfect "radio voice". As a musician I wasn't surprised that he started picking her brain about Paul Simon's inner workings, but she managed to shut that down pretty quickly. A very intelligent and witty woman with loads of talent. Such a shame that she and her mother are no longer here,.

Great interview, you have to love Carrie Fisher, there was a little moment when she was talking about secrets, whatever secrets you have make you fearful, because they are weaknesses, and you are afraid they will be found out, and they will be found out.... knowing what the host is accused of now, it resonates... it didn't seem to faze John, he's very smooth, great interviewer, but it's one of those soulful moments.

+Williamharold1000 Jian is a great and tremendously talented interviewer. His ability is that he actually listens unlike many interviewers who interrupt the person being interviewed. What is outside of the interview is another matter and the maxim "innocent until proven guilty" applies. It's truly sad that such an outstandingly talented interviewer had his career derailed for whatever the reason.

His thought provoking circuitous route of meshing with the actress was brilliant. A quick finale note to this? Her role as the vengeful "Curl up & Dye" beautician, setting her sights to kill Jacob Elwood Blues HAD to have been one of the least appreciated & applauded characterizations that so deserves credit

I am almost 56 myself and I haven't changed like this. It really bothers me to see the plastic faces that women in Hollywood go for as they age (even the ones in their forties). Helen Mirren has steered clear of it. She's much more fabulous than any of our Americans (except Meryl Streep although I suspect she's had some work done on her eyes) because she looks real. Just an opinion of course, but it's really obvious to me and it's sad.

Well, Thanks RR, but I won't go around saying how great and normal Carrie looks when she has massacred her natural face. And Carrie's career, along with all the other actors in Hollywood, is all about what she looks like, so if we aren't paying attention to what they do with their faces, we ignore the essence of their careers. If we're here commenting on theis interview, we are "bothered" by what they do.

OK. Well I don't go around being "bothered" by what grown folks, who are not me, do with their faces. So I'll leave you to it. Enjoy!
