I am confused by the status of this case. If he's incompetent to stand trial and it's been over a decade of trying to establish competence I don't see how the state can continue to claim that he is not not guilty by a reason for mental defect or insanity if he goes to trial. If he was not competent when he was committing then he is not guilty. They should definitely move him to the best facility in the state instead of keeping him in a place that is inadequate because they have not made any progress on his competency in a decade. Is anyone else seeing the issue here? Just declare him incompetent and send them to the state hospital.

I went to UW Stout for my degree in Psyc. I have never heard of this dude in all the 5 years I went there! I was working on something when listening to this and did a double take because of the mispronunciation of Menomonie and saw our field sprawled on the screen. Granted this was early 2000's it's kind of weird I never heard of this guy nor have any of my friends.
I will say though there are a lot of concerning residents of UW Stout on and near campus. We had a guy recently who took someones life at a bar and ran off back to Minnesota. He eventually got caught, but has a FB page dedicated to his release because he's a good boy or something. We also had an apartment hostage situation as well. We also had/have a really weird church who would come out like twice a year to wave signs at every campus corner about how the end is either coming or anti-abortion rhetorics. There was also a quadruple homicide just recently where people were left in a cornfield in Menomonie as well. It kind of sucks that it hits VERY close to home with this case, very uncomfortably so. Wisconsin just kind of makes you go nuts.
But we do have fun mysteries like the Mabel Tainter theater being haunted and the travel abroad office being a former morgue!!!!
Before someone comments "are Menomonie and UW Stout in the same place???" They are. Stout is the only school that doesn't have the name of its city in its name iirc.
