- Monday 20th July 2020 saw a busy day at RAF Lakenheath, home of the USAF 48th fighter wing. The first Launch consisted of about twenty F15C from the 493rd squadron along with F15E strike eagles from the 494th sqn. The second launch from the same squadrons totaled about sixteen jets.
each sortie lasted about 90mins which gave us plenty of time to alternate vantage points.

MACH LOOP VIDEO COMING SOON!!!!
Thanks all
Daf
Thanks for bringing back great memories of living in a dorm near the flightline at Luke AFB, '75-'78!
I'm enjoying the sounds of F-35s taking off from Luke all day long.
Warms my heart reminding me of 3 squadrons of F-105 warriors leaving Itazuke AB, Japan, for SEA...1964.
Thats what people like.Power noise and aircraft action. No music!
This is how these type of aircraft should be filmed.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks Christopher 👍
After all these years, still a badass !!! Amurica !
Another 30+ years with the new F15EX coming next year
When I lived in Austin years ago, the RF-4Cs would exit Bergstrom AFB right over my house, my then 8 year old daughter asked me "Daddy whats' that noise?" I'd just smile and tell her, "That's the sound of freedom."
Aww not the sound of freedom bollocks.......sheesh.
in other news "that did not happen"
Laugh all you want but be thankful that Lakenheath isn't named Landeplatz.
I was assigned to RAF Lakenheath in late 1985 and stayed for 90 days TDY. Quiet town with a few great pubs. The real action was at the flight line. Back then it was F-111's. Those launch with a big roaring sound. For variety, I once walked to RAF Mildenhall to watch the SR-71 night launch...all you could see was blue flames and hear a loud thunder. Of course, I would love to have watched the F-15's...those were in Germany back then. Thanks you for sharing
Thanks for watching Todd. Must of been great times in the 80’s ✈️🇺🇸👍
Oh, this is SOOOOO what I needed this morning!!! There isn't any sound like jets at afterburner in the world!! Thank you.
Appreciate you watching ✈️✈️👍
Thanks Dave I love your videos!
Yes. I heard one yesterday's morning.
Boy I miss those!! Just the sound does you know what!! I worked on these at Eglin AFB in Florida and built the engines for them. I did get an incentive flight in one and spent 90 min in the Air with one of our best fighter pilots in the military and if you didn’t have respect for these guys before I’m telling you that you need to!!! What these guys go thru at 40,000 ft is absolutely incredible and mind blowing.
Next time you meet an active or ex military pilot please take a second to thank them!!!
I was working that day, my “office” being down that end of the runway, ears were rattling for a while 😂
Any jobs going there?? ✈️✈️✈️🤠
You wanna rattle the wax out of your ears try a B-1b at 100%, not the 80% max they do in the states.
F-15 may not be the best bird, but it's among the most successful.
Your work is like rehab for me, the only thing better should be the CR on the tail like the early days, still miss our 32TFS "Wolfhounds" at Camp Amsterdam Soesterberg! You know what you had, when you dont have it anymore!
Was stationed 88-91 at RAF Upper Heyford with F111's, talk about fast and loud, great assignment that I will always remember.
Tom Smith What year did you go in and what did you do??
@@1982MCI firefighter, 84-04, not my real name btw.
I’ve been so fortunate to be there, and see the 15’s and 16’s come back to base. Loved it 👍🇺🇸! Heard them take off every morning. That’s the sound of freedom !
I experienced ORI elephant walks at Lakenheath numerous times from 77-80, only difference was F-111F's instead of F-15 C & E's, it was awesome the noise and the hustle and bustle, smoke from the cartridge starts, will never forget it
The mass launch of the McDonnell Douglas F15 is a fantastic sight to see and the United Technologies F100 afterburner symphony,, just fantastic!! Thanks for sharing!!
Appreciating you watching derek 👍
@@DafyddPhillips Cheers Dafydd!! I'm a huge military aviation fan, so this is recommended viewing for me! 😁👍
See these guys regular living in Newmarket. With family living in Mildenhall and Lakenheath, we love Americans. My uncle was stationed at RAF Mildenhall. He worked for NASA on SR 71 Blackbird when that was here.
There's still an impression of my jaw "in" the tarmac at Point Mugu from when I witnessed an F-15 cutting loose at an Airshow there probably over 30 years ago! I'm still "in awe" to this very day!
I saw my first air show there back in the early 70s . Saw the Air Force Thunderbird's F-4s
@@dennisschreiber7663 That's When airshows were TRULY "AIRSHOWS" also, Point Mugu in being on the Ocean allowed them to break the sound barrier right in front of us. Those days are long-gone but I'm glad that I, you, and many were able to witness it in the days when Airshows were a true "Spectacle" to behold. Thanks for the comment! Cheers Robert
Excellent pictures and video again Dafydd, it's a pleasure to watch your work. Keep up the good work 👍👏👏 I'm still looking forward to Mach Loop as soon as I can get 🤞
Thanks Andy. Hope you get lucky when you get there ✈️✈️✈️✈️👍
WOW. Start roll to takeoff 10 seconds. What a ride!!!!
Beast ✈️💪🏼
Excellent! What a show! And we've seen a lot of these boys in the 'Mach Loop' as well.
My back yard 👍✈️🏴
Goosebumps! Still one sexy aircraft! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for watching 👍
Pretty awesome actions on these F-15C Eagles and F-15E Strike Eagles 😎😊
I love the sound of freedom in the morning.
The irony: the United States isn't free
The sound of suppression in the morning ain't too bad either
Laurence Smith compared to the other options available out there right now then we sure as hell are and I don’t want to consider the other options at all
Excellent images, what a day that must have been!
I can remember seeing two squadons of F-100s taking off from here back in the early 60s. They took off three at a time. Now I live right under the F-15s ACM training area - I love the sound the afterburners in the morning!
I usually stop what I'm doing to watch your latest upload.
Magical as always 🙌🙌
Thanks David 👍
I had an uncle who reached high places in the Airforce! He helped design a fighter jet in the 79’s👍🇺🇸🙏
F-15. The poster children for "Don't Start none, Won't be none" M-Fletcher.. lol
I don’t think they do it anymore but this reminds me of ASLAR. Aircraft Surge Launch and Recovery. I was an air traffic controller for the AF and we used to do ASLAR in Korea back in the 80s. It was wild watching them and crazier controlling them.
I always come running to watch your videos! I second all the rave compliments. After a work day of what I do - I come alive again. Thank You! I just love them all.
Thank you Diane. Appreciate you watching ✈️✈️✈️😎
I always look forward to another Dafydd Phillips video. The only thing missing is the goosebumps of being there
Thank you.
Happy you enjoyed ✈️👍
I miss standing on that log, peeking over the fence. Good times at the 'Heath!
Great to see. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Really need to get over to Lakenheath before long.
Thanks guy.
Hope you get lucky there ✈️✈️✈️🇺🇸👍
Damn those birds get up fast wow amazing footage as always thanks for sharing this bro 👍🇨🇦
Thanks Dan 👍
A fourship came down ogwen valley this morning right by the house, incredible👍
Heard them on the receiver. I believe one of them was the heritage jet.
Dafydd Phillips wow do you know when they’ll be passing again?
I didn’t know they were coming this morning sorry. Just as well I think as the weather is pretty foggy around cadair Idris according to the met office today. It’s a bit of a hit or miss to catch them. ✈️✈️🇺🇸
Dafydd Phillips no worries, keep up the amazing work🙌
Thanks jac 👍👍
Proud and honored to have been part of the F-15E development team. It's great to see these still play an important role.
You did a great job ✈️🇺🇸👍
What a great way to start your day blasting into the sky powered by huge afterburners magic
oh boy oh boy, so much fun watching this, remind me of the good old days at SOESTERBERG AIRBASE, the NETHERLANDS, lol haha, mooie opnames hoor, nice job, groetjes uit soesterberg.
I could never get sick of that. Thanks for sharing
👍🏻👍🏻🙃🙃
Reminded me of the first time i took my then 10yo lad to Lakenheath. Pair of F15c's came right over us on approach just as we drove under them. His face was priceless! Great vid, thanks!
Love reading individual experiences related to my vids.
Appreciate your comment
👍👍👍
Imágenes espectaculares!. Qué maravilla es el F15!.Excelente video!. 👏👏👏👏👍
Great video. love the no commentary or music in back ground. Just sound of awesomeness coming from those engines and burners. Do agree with many here, F15 Is still one of the coolest jets out there. So glad they didn’t sell that to Iran to like my other top fav jet the F14. Miss working around them when was on carrier decks in the early 90s and upset they got decommissioned. But still got the awesome, highest kill rate of enemy jets to itself being shot down every, the mighty beautiful F15
Awesome! Natural sound is fantastic.
100% true
The beauty of these plains is not worth discussing (they ARE beauty in their own ways), but the SOUND (omg), i could listen to this all day long ;-)
Excellent and thank you...All we need is a companion piece of them then going thru the Mach Loop...It would make for the perfect recruiting commercial 😀
I’ll be there to film them ✈️✈️✈️🇺🇸😍
Fantastic Darydd...My neck of the woods, but a long way from home for you!
Thanks Andrew, 6 hour drive but worth it to smell the fumes ✈️😍✈️😍✈️😍
Wish I would have had my camera when me and my wife were in the extreme east end of Panama city beach (it was a private excursion, taken by bus). Didn't know Tyndal A.F.B. was 10 miles away! Very low and Dark cloud cover. F-15s flying over us, up and down the beach and out over Ocean. Black Matte paint scheme. 500ft to 1000 ft for over an hour. So Cool! They were putting on as much of a show as they could considering Low cloud deck. I want one!
Grandson is finishing BLT at Lackland. So proud ✈
My favorite jet . I been up close to them and they are huge ! Also loud . Awesome machine.
Best in the business. Congrats on a superb top shelf production. Air force for ever!! ✈
Thanks mike.
Appreciate your comment 😎👍
Absolutely fantastic ! I so need to get to lakenheath like now !!! Thank you for this I love it .
Happy you enjoyed it ✈️✈️✈️👍
Both you and Elwyn R must have been next to each other. Brilliant camera work as usual. Love it when they light the afterburners.
Yes we travelled over together from wales.
Looks liked we picked the right days for some traffic ✈️✈️✈️✈️👍
Thanks for watching 😎
YEAH!! They are talking off like an emergency is happening. 50,000 lbs of thrust per... Awesome. Great video.
Thank you 😎👍
Love the turn and burn!!!...🤙😎🤘
Interesting how some of those F-15s took off without using the afterburner.
The eagle pound for pound the best fighter ever of course not in numbers but no loses in combat to another fighter. The Israelis landed one of them with one wing shot off never heard of that before
yes, the wing was ripped off the F15 when two planes hit each other
@@spacecatboy2962 where you flying it because i was under the impression that damage was done by enemy action i.e Syrian ground fire in fact i know it was i watched a programme and that involved the pilot who flying it hey if you can tell me any different i am all ears but let me put my theory across if 2 military aircraft where trained and they bumped and one lost a wing he would bail out now if he lost that wing over enemy territory and that aircraft still flyable he wouldn't bail because the chances of him surviving if captured would be very slim but thanks for the comment though 👍
@@steveholmes5207 here is the video title where the pilot of the plane talks about what happened---- F-15 lands with one wing
Can you imagine having this job, "damn I have to fly my F-15 today. I wouldn't be able to sleep the night before. This would have to be the coolest job on earth!
I'm just a lowly Brickmason.
Michael Proulx There’s nothing low about building things. Highly honorable work.
It's eagle heaven! My kind of place!
Awesome video! I always thought they use the afterburner on takeoff. Most didn’t
I didn't think this air traffic was so beautiful !
Beautiful is also your work; it is to fill the eyes 😍😎👌
Thanks Vania ✈️👍
Just stunning film work again - outstanding! 👍😁👍 so very enjoyable 😁
Thank you. Appreciate your viewing 👍
Love it - glad we’re on the same side.
You got that right brother. USA/UK. United forever
@@tommenke9539 Very proudly
Beautifully captured. Great job.
Thanks Jonathan 👍
I know Im gonna have a good morning when I see your name in my in box. Dafydd, cannot get enough of your work. Its has to make everyone who loves aircraft get all giddy ( You tube conversational wording) seeing the quality of video and the outstanding stills of these birds. You get my yawl (drift) Another solid 10. Thanks
Thanks Scott.
Great to read this 😎👌
@@DafyddPhillips Anytime
This has to be the best quality video I’ve ever seen. Great job capturing all those eagles fleeing the nest.
Thanks mike 👍
Thank You as always Dafydd for getting my day started off with another great Video
Thanks for viewing Dennis.
Appreciated ✈️😎👍
Not only can it employ virtually every weapon in the U.S. and coalition inventory, it’s also comically versatile in terms of the combinations of configurations that can be flown. The same attributes also make the F-15 the workhorse for testing and fielding of new weapons, sensors, and emerging capabilities that eventually make it onto other fighters like the F-22 and F-35.
Another quality Dafydd production. Lakenheath seems to be a good spot to capture the Eagle whistle as well...
Thank you. The whistle is clear as a be there ✈️👌
Love this video now give us a fleet of Tomcats
Great video dafydd, stunning aircraft, and amazing film and still quality 👌😀👍
Thanks Shaun 👍
What a spectacular view this is..!! Thx again for sharing this...cheers from Denmark (if i was a kid again, i would defiantly go for the airforce) :-) (but i'm not) ;-)
Awesome video, man! Nice photos too. Liked and subscribed! Loved the low pass at the end! ;)
This gives me flashbacks of the late 80s, watching Eagles as a child at Soesterberg AB in The Netherlands. :)
Miss them...the Eagle Drivers of those days must be in their 50s and 60s now. Some might be even in their early 70s now. Amazing. lol. Time flies.Hope to visit Lakenheath one day! Greetz
Thank you and appreciated the sub ✈️✈️👍
F-15 eagle might be the coolest jet!
Such an awesome scenery!! 💥
There is no better photogenic fighter than the Eagle!! 💖😎👍
Hey Dafyy you succeded to create almost 200 reactions in one day...
Thank you.
The F15 is most certainly the most photogenic fighter jet ✈️🇺🇸👍
The first minute of footage is enthralling....well done...great camera work and audio.....as was the rest of the footage...keep up the great work.
Thanks David 👍
Whoa.. really impressive to watch the fleet of F-15 rolling slowly then to lift up into the Sky .. this remind me on Ramstein/ Germany where I went to a open day to see some F-15 with my own eyes . The sound of the engines are the best music for my ears. Thank you so much Dafyzz for posting it on here. Greetings from Germany .
Thanks Gina. Appreciate your viewing 😎
The best in the universe! Period! I'm damn proud to live in a country that has the best pilots! Nuff said pilgrims.😎
Israelis are good too, Russians, but hey they copy our stuff it's so good, China? Lol.
This is England.!

I started out my Air force career as a crew chief on 75 models at Luke AFB . I crewed a B model 75-0258 for almost 3years. Got to go TDY in the back seat to San Diego.
You sure about that serial number chief? Because that comes up as A-10A.
Not was75-089 I was in 555th Triple Nickle .
@@eaglekeeper7737 ; That loss must have been tragic, my condolences!

Excellent shots mate. Really enjoyed the fighter action 👍
I wonder where they are off to? I havent seen anything on RAF Lakenheath's FB page.
I love military planes and your videos are the best because they make me feel as though I am standing right next to you. Thank you.
Looks like typical training load outs. Just a busy day at the NEST!
I even offered to carry his camera gear....still waiting for his call!

What does an environmental activist have to do with this video? Lol
@@himlaz_2398 The amount of fossil fuel being burned by these afterburning beasts. LoL

Don’t rush as it’s pretty quiet there these days.

This is why we sleep safe at night, magnificent. Love our American brothers, and thankful they got our backs if shit goes down.
Agreed ✈️✈️🇺🇸👍
The end of the runway shots are just amazing. Are you up a ladder to get a view over the fence? 06:09 is just a stunning head-on shot.
Thank you. I’m right up against the fence and focusing through.
Nice to see some single seat F15's.
Looks familiar 😃
You and Elwyn R must have been standing next to each other for this. He’s got these things taking off too.

The likes outweigh the dislikes fortunately 👍
Their wives thought the sound was a neighbors drills running...................

A true mass departure is MacDill AFB in the mid 80's, 100+ F16's in a couple hours ahead of incoming Hurricane, 2 or 3 at a time, few departure end barrier engagements, it was a long night
