Jonna, I loved hearing you talk about the time with your grandsons. Your joy was so evident. We get to spend time with our grandchildren every August when their parents are attending back to school meetings and it’s some of the best days of our year.
Wonderful to be back with you again. Love all your makes. I have been looking for a sweater for fine yarn and I will be making Jonna’s sweater. Love a fine knit sweater.
I am a knitting Nana, or as one of my granddaughters says, Nana is a knitter witter. Love all your sweaters. I may have to make that Sparkle sweater, Kim. I made Joji’s Elton and love it, but a v neck cardigan would be even better. I am in the process of making the Weekender right now. I added mohair to give it some fluff and make it softer and am hoping it’s not going to be too big. Congratulations on the birth of your newest granddaughter, Jonna. How exciting that you were able to be in the room when she was born. I made an Ankers sweater for my two year old granddaughter and it was such a fun knit, easy but different so it kept me engaged and it knit up really fast. I am going to make an Ankers T for myself in some cotton yarn that is colour changing. I wish I could follow you twice to increase your numbers, but alas, You Tube only allows one. Lol! Always a joy to knit along with you and enjoy catching up with your lives. 💕😉
Lovely episode, thank you both. I was watching it snuggled under my Primrose blanket (winter here in New Zealand) and cheering you both on with your blankets. My Primrose is very colourful indeed as it's mainly made from a ton of leftover scraps (although I did buy a few cheap balls in colourways I don't normally knit with.) I'm more comfortable than just about anyone I know with randomising colour, so the only rule I gave myself was not to have the same yarn touching anywhere. One of the happiest items I've ever made. I think you'll love yours when you get there. Mine took a couple of years as it was the thing I picked up in between other projects.
Glad to see you ladies are back. You have both had a very busy summer so far. Jonna, thanks to you I persevered with knitting socks and am happy to say that I finished my first couple of pairs and I now enjoy knitting socks!! I have been doing gusset and heel flap but will attempt when I am brave enough to do an afterthought heel. Kim, I love love your hair and all the different colours. In fact I put some purple in my hair last time I was at the hairdresser and really liked it, so maybe I can be a purple haired grandma too. You are both beautiful knitters and I really enjoy watching your podcasts.
Appreciate you two... This is so well-produced and always interesting. The microphone coozy worked well; the sound is much better and not so tinny. Sorry it was so hot the day you made this. I think it was the day I couldn't stand the heat anymore and put the A/C in the upstairs where I've been working. Kim, The retreat sounded wonderful; you make me want to go. Jonna, I'm so glad you had time with your grandsons. Perfect age to go 'sploring' (as my Dad used to say) with. I hope they want to visit more often. I miss not having my grandsons here; they're 23 and 20 now. Time goes by fast. Thanks for all the beautiful knits and ideas! Take care. ❤ And, love to all affected by this extreme weather. Stay safe. ❤
Thanks for the fun episode Kim & Jonna. I immediately looked up the newborn socks pattern as my first grandchild is due in December. Can’t wait to make all the baby things! Thanks for the inspiration to get me started on that journey.
Glad to see you back safe and sound from your many travels. Wish I could join you on the I-91 YC but I live too far away. Have fun and stay safe. Love seeing all your WIPs and FOs.
This was such a great episode. I love the g'ma part. It's just so awesome to see knitting fill in the places in life, baby socks, kids sweaters, visits to family. The trip sounded so cute with the boys!!! 🧶 All the best, Kimberly
It was so good to see another episode! Jonna, when you mention how creative and inspiring some knitters are on instagram, and how you want to knit all the things, that is you for me! I saw your Nordiska, I had to make one, then your Academic, and your Delia, and your Hoarfrost... Thanks for being so inspiring!
It's so lovely to see you back. Really love your podcasts they are such fun. Thank you ladies for taking the time out of your busy lives. Love Marion xxx
Wonderful as always - I won't even begin to comment as it will turn into a long essay!! Thanks for the fun and lovely updates and woohoo on sneaking up on 15k subs. Happy knitting, Karen
Thanks for another informative and entertaining video. So glad you enjoyed your small break from filming. It’s so refreshing to see that you are ‘keeping it real’ and fitting your hobby ( crafting) and youtubing around your lives and families. I love both of the knitted garments you wore during the video.
Hi KimandJonna 👋 Great to see you both together ❤ So many beautiful projects you both have! Kim, I cracked up while you shared your weekender sweater 😅 because Its the only sweater I hated knitting it,, though I do enjoy wearing it! Yours turned out beautifully! 🎉 I just finished the Soldotna and truly enjoyed knitting it! Im sure you will too!! Your trip to Italy sounds Amazing! Thanks for sharing your experiences! Congratulations Jonna on new Granddaughter ❤ so glad she's healthy! Your Tee is gorgeous! Im inspired to make one now! Having your grandsons all to yourself for those days is a treasure! We fly our 10/12 yr. Old gkids out every summer from CA to TN for 2 weeks and we have so many great memories!! Have a Great Day!
Nice to see you ladies! Love your new Birks Kim! I have been wearing Birks for over 30 years. I have 2 pairs right now, on of them is the black version of your white ones. One very cool thing about them is that they are great to wear with handknit socks. I wear them to 'show off' my socks in the Spring and Fall. Enjoy them.
Don’t need the time stamps as your chatter is always greats listen to. Watching your podcast is just like sitting with my friends and knitting when we have our crafty afternoons. In fact it is easier to organise than 8 women who are all at differing stages of work life and home life, almost need a spreadsheet some months!🤣
Lovely catching up with you too 🤍 Thanks so much for mentioning me again, Jonna! I wish I were going to Rhinebeck so we could meet 🥰 By the way, I have the exact same white Birkenstocks that Kim does 😎
Such fun! Happy to work on my socks while looking at your WIPs and FOs! There’s always some new-to-me pattern to look up after you discuss! Glad you’re back !!
I also want to make the cumulus with knitting for olive silk, now I am not sure anymore. I need to knit a size L ;-) thanks for a lovely podcat. X Julia
Just want to tell you, Sarah of It Is a Sarah podcast mentioned you two so I decided to check you out. I love your podcast! I’m inspired to crochet, which I haven’t done much of for a while because I knit constantly. Mostly socks this summer using the classic sock pattern by Yankee Knitter. I can’t decide whether to do granny squares or the Arne and Carlos pattern that Kim is doing! Maybe a should do both! Thanks for all your inspiration and enthusiasm! Oh and I’ll be checking out the Knitters Planner! Peace! And love!🧶💖Katie from Maine
I made a Sophie scarf with my lang Frida - it’s gorgeously soft yarn but I’d only picked the one ball up at a yarn show so made the best I could with it
Great podcast ladies. Kim, the retreat sounded wonderful and your pictures were beautiful. Jonna, I had to laugh. I’ve been bitten by the crochet bug too. I started with a tote bag and am now working on a blanket. I want to make the Ariana cardigan that Sarah has been wearing in her podcasts. It’s nice to switch back and forth between the crafts. ❤
Such a great episode ladies! Don't worry about your algorithm, it popped right up today. I have also started a scrappy granny square blanket after not crocheting for decades. Jonna, I've been waiting to see the progress on your La Mercerie crochet project. Did you abandon it? Her blankets are next level to me so I would understand if you did. Anyway, everything you ladies knit are stunning. Til next time...
Hi Robin and thank you! I (Jonna) didn't even start the La Mercerie blanket yet because I couldn't decide on a color palette. I'm super glad I've waited though, because my crochet skills needed some refreshing. Maybe it will be a winter project?
Another delightful podcast! 🎉 Glad you were able to enjoy some time away. I too enjoy watching It is a Sarah and Playfull Knitter. Sweet that they mention their love of Knit Together with Kim & Jonna and y’all!
It was fun to hear about your exciting July! Congratulations Jonna! It’s a Sarah has gotten my crochet juices flowing, too. I’m on my second granny square cardigan and made a granny stitch cardigan as well! Crochet eats yarn, but is definitely faster than knitting. I love your fun hair colors Kim, but must say I also love your dark brown hair today. You look like a teenager! 😁
Kim your blue sweater is so beautiful, it looks like you bought it! I didn’t go up the arch 😳😄😄 I sat in the lobby. Grandkids are “simply the BEST”. Love all of your info..
I had such a hard time bonding with my dog when we first got her. This probably lasted about 7-8 months. But now I’m convinced she’s my soulmate. I can’t imagine life without her ❤
It’s interesting, that right after I said that, we’ve done some bonding! It took time to get to know one another. My husband always says, “he’s going to be a great dog!”
Yay y'all are back! Lol, Kim, my winter shoes here in Florida are the Birks with shearling. Yeah, I get looks but it only gets to the high 60s so why not!
Ladies, I can’t tell you how much I look forward to your videos. You both inspire me…I’m a Grandma as well (Abuela in Spanish…🤣). Please keep up the wonderful inspirations.
Thank you for another lovely video! Kim, you hooked me on a mYak retreat, I forgot to comment on your catch up video, but I have been eyeing their retreats since last year and although I don't have to splurge on travel (Berlin to Italy is comparatively cheaper) it's still too expensive for now. So thank you for talking about your experience, I will make it happen one day 😇. Jonna, I might have to cast on a summer knit in pure silk, thank you for talking about the yarn in more detail. Although I am currently knitting a toy (Alphonse from Mouche and Friends) and those are awesome summer knits too, haha. Hm, silk is probably too drapey for a toy... Warm greetings from Germany, would hit thumbs up more than once if I could 🥰 Uta
i just ordered a row counter like Jonna's from etsy--after spending abt 10minutes figuring what row i was on [Camping Pullover] bc my row counter wheel is too loose and my post-it on the pattern moved 😕! thx for the tip!
Thank you so much for your sweet mention! It truly was an honor to play for you😊🎵❤️Loved the episode🤩 The background noise is totally fine. Not bothersome at all so don’t worry😊
If I remember correctly, I read somewhere (and this is what I did on my Solare) that you should do the first SR as written, meaning in the same place. So knit to desired spot, turn, make double stitch. Then after that, if the SRs are getting longer each time, knit one extra stitch before the previous turn (one more than the pattern calls for) on the rest of the SRs, but if the SRs are getting shorter, knit one less stitch before the next turn (one less than the pattern calls for) on the rest of the SRs. Does that make sense? I honestly have no idea if I did it correctly, but I read a few posts about it and watched a few videos and decided to do it that way. 😜 Kim
Thanks for mentioning the dog bonding - I got my dog when she was tiny. They said she'd be at max 10 lb. Well, I must have gotten her when she was 5 weeks old or so because she now weights around 30 lbs.! I kept seeing her growing and getting bigger and bigger and I kept telling her she's got to stop cause I won't be able to pick her up. lol We had our issues during this time - she's hyper, out of control when people come over, when the phone rings, when she hears a car outside, or a noise inside... lol At the time I asked myself what was I thinking, and there are still days when I ask myself that, but overall she's just the best dog ever. She knows I can't hear well so she does alert me to noises I might not hear, she reminds me when her bowls are getting empty, and the funniest thing she's done recently was croon to a song that was on a podcast. I had to repeat that section just to make sure and yep, when that music came on she ooohed through the whole thing. Not a howl, just a gentle ooohing. I should have recorded it but I was so surprised I didn't think to do it at the time. Anyway, she's 5 now and a bit calmer (pug/chihuahua mix). You'll find your spot with Teddy that will make him just perfect for you eventually. Izzy, my dog has been a trial but also such a blessing. She also makes me get up and move around every hour or so when I'm knitting. And she makes me laugh, pushes up next to me in bed, back to back usually, sits directly under me in my chair where I sit most days or in my lap. But it took awhile to reach this point in our lives together. She was definitely not the dog I imagined when she fit in the palm of my hand. I am positive you will get to the same point with Teddy.
What a lovely story and thank you so much for sharing! He's growing on me! I wish he would stop stealing the toilet paper though. It's like living with a racoon!
Question for the both of you. When you are knitting the body of the sweater, do you alternate between 2 skeins? Have you had issues with pooling of the yarn?
Hi Karen! Yes, we have both alternated skeins. I've used the helical knitting method and Kim has carried yarns up inside if that makes sense! Here's my favorite tutorial for helical knitting. ua-cam.com/video/k9Hj5W3EcFo/v-deo.html
Great video! Kim, I love your Primrose and I’m in the process of shopping for yarn for mine. I already have a lot of fingering weight yarn and so many colors. Any thoughts on how this blanket would be with fingering instead of DK? Also, I love your color combinations and will buy the same yarn if I decide to go with DK. Which colors did you buy? Thank you!
Hi Karen, I'm so happy that you're going to crochet a Primrose! I love mine and can't wait to finish it. As far as yarn goes, if you use fingering and a smaller hook, the flowers would be smaller, so the throw would be smaller. Or you could just make a lot more flowers and make it as large as you want. You could also hold the fingering double to equal DK, but I don't know how hard that is with crochet. Finally, as you probably know, I am using John Arbon Knit by Numbers DK, but since I bought my yarn, they have decided to change the fiber content and will slowly be transitioning to the new blend, so I'm not sure when that will happen and/or what colors will be available. I'll include a link to their KBN webpage below... But here is a list of my colors: Light pink = 66 Pink = 63 Red = 20 Orange = 16 Yellow = 52 Light green = 71 Green = 68 Teal = 92 Turquoise = 38 Light turquoise = 42 Light blue = 97 Violet = 84 Light purple = 34 Purple = 28 I hope that helps!!! ❤️Kim www.jarbon.com/product/kbn-new-blend-preview/
Jonna, where do you buy your linen? I love those shorts, they look so comfortable. I live in Central Florida and my family has Disney passes and those shorts look like the would be perfect in the heat. Yesterday we were driving to Hollywood Studios on I-4 and the temperature was reading 104. So anything that would be comfortable and cool would be perfect.
Hi Debbie! Yes, perfect for the heat. I'm taking them to Texas where it's not less than 106! I bought some inexpensive linen at JOANN Fabrics and some online at Stonemountain and Daughter. I may have put links in the description box, but not sure. stonemountainfabric.com/product-category/fabric/linen-linen-blends/?orderby=popularity www.blackbirdfabrics.com/en-us/collections/linen/fiber-content_linen?sort_by=created-descending
So happy to hear you’re doing the 91 shot hop, That means you will likely be coming through my LYS Northmpton Wools. Also home to Webs. There are so many cafés and restaurants to choose from. I would be happy to meet with you guys. ☺️🥂🧶
Hi, I'm a fellow crafter but I'm also a sound engineer and I just wanted to give you some unsolicited advice. If the sound of the aircon really bothers you then here are a few things that you can do. 1. Unfortunately the best way to get rid of the sound is to actually just switch the aircon off but I understand why that might not be pleasant. 2. Use the clip on mics you were referring to. The idea is that the closer the mic is to you the more better it will record your voices and it will record less background noise. This won't completely get rid of the sound of the aircon, and you will have to be careful not to rub your projects (or anything else) against the mics. 3. This is the last solution it can work but it's the most difficult to get right. You can use a de-noise filter which is an audio plugin. Most editing softwares have it. There are a few tutorials here on youtube but this one is a little more technical and will take some practice. The free plugins tend to not to work perfectly but they reduce the noise. The fluffy mic cover actually works great for outdoor recordings because it reduces the sound that the wind makes when it hits the mic. The trick to using it is to get the mic as close as possible to you guys when you speak. Hopefully that was helpful.
Thank you so much for your suggestions! We have since done more research and discovered that we can turn down the gain in the camera, then adjust the gain in the mic as needed. In addition, there is a background noise filter setting on the external mic that we weren’t using. Hopefully these fixes will help but if not, the next step would be individual clip on mics and/or turning the AC off. 😂😩😅😊
I have twice found it difficult to bond with a puppy even years after the death of a beloved dog. It gets better, but it can take a few years. Spending one-on-one time with the new dog does help to make memories that will bring you closer - can you take Teddy to a flea market, or maybe to a park while you knit?
Thank you. We do take him almost everywhere! He loves the farmer's market. We took him to an outdoor restaurant and he did very well. I was just surprised that I didn't have an instant bond with him, but it's growing!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna Maybe just you and Teddy could do more things since he's already bonded to your husband? Hang in there - you may never love him as much as you did your last dog, but you can still have a great relationship with him.
Just love you guys. I watched it several times. Now I want to make it all. I also am now watching The Playful Knitter. Congratulations Jonna on the new baby. Mine are all grown up. What is her name? Bye
Oh my gosh, I haven't been to PUES since May? June? It's awful -- I need to get there. It's so funny cause the other day I was remembering my grandmother (who was the perfect grandmother IMO!). And then you say you're two grandmas (which of course I know -- congratulations, Jonna!). Sorry, you two are too young to be grandmothers! lol! I know you're not, but I think I'm just envious at this point.... Hope Kim is enjoying Canada! Hope you both are enjoying August! Finally nice weather, right? (Sorry, I've introduced myself once or twice. Don't mean to be a creeper!)
This may be an unpopular dog opinion....I'm in my 60s, and have had dogs for all my adult life. There were 2 along the way that were just not a good fit for our family. I felt a bit guilty, but did re-home them...i felt like I'd failed a bit. But then I thought...if a dog's life is about 10 - 14yrs, that's a bit chunk of my life to live with a pet that doesn't fit with our home. Believe me, I didnt make the choice lightly, but it was the right choice.😊
Jonna here. It did cross my mind, if I am honest. I know how hard that must have been for you. Even if we don't love them, we still feel protective and nurturing towards them. We've stuck with it and I'm glad we did. He's growing on me!
Can you explain the difference between German short rows and wrap and turns because I’ve seen them used interchangeably so now I’m thoroughly confused on the difference.
This is a great article written by Patty Lyons! www.moderndailyknitting.com/community/ask-patty-wrap-and-turn-or-german-short-rows/#:~:text=Wrap%20and%20turn%3A%20Work%20to,and%20create%20your%20doubled%20stitch.
Sooo happy for another episode 😍I’m glad you talked about the weekender- mine’s in timeout 🙃I can’t even remember what bothered me - so come September - after my trip to see my Mama in Austria- I’ll try again Hope it turns out as great as yours and I’ll make myself a reminder to go up a needle size at the end - so enjoyed what Kim shared about her Italy trip - and congrats again Jonna for the new bundle of joy ❤happy knitting 🧶- oh and I want to tell Jonna- because you shared you sewing in the past - I acquired a sewing machine- hope I can get back in the swing- it’s been a few moons 😅😊
Well, that was a good one, thank you for showing such a variety of wonderful projects 🧶. Don’t mind the minor noises….it’s a shop…..that’s why it’s so vivid!

I have about a dozen WIPs and each in a project bag and each with a little kit. I also have a crochet hook in each kit too!
It was wonderful to hear about your grandchildren and all of the knitting! Great episode, big thanks for sharing with us!

It's worth it! Just expect it to take awhile. It's great travel knitting once you join in the round.
Missed you girls! Glad you had such a fun month and shared your adventures with us. ❤
Yay! You're back and Kim I absolutely LOVE the new hair!!! So stinking cute on you!
I love your granny blankets, they are so different but you both made beautiful color-choices!
Ladies your hair is beautiful!!!! Great episode!

LisaR: Welcome back :) You both look well rested & happy ! It was such a fun episode ❤
I have baby nail clippers in my knit tins. They are perfect for snipping yarn and no worries about security.
Good idea! Those tiny scissors are cute but worthless!
Another great podcast ….you are both so much fun ……. Thanks for sharing!
Hello ladies hope you had good holidays great to see you back xx
Great podcast ladies. Kim, the retreat sounded wonderful and your pictures were beautiful. Jonna, I had to laugh. I’ve been bitten by the crochet bug too. The Ariana cardigan is SO cute!!! I would love to make one.
Thanks you guys 😃👏🏼🥰
I just love your podcast! So many beautiful things
Thank you so much!
Wonderful episode! Kim, I just bought my first pair of Birkenstocks too! So far I love mine!
Another fabulous podcast,
Such a great episode ladies!
That embroidered baby sweater is going to be the cutest thing ever!
So Glad both of you are back!!! Such a Fun summer, can’t wait for the fall shows!
All my teenage grand daughters have white Birkenstocks. My first Birks I had for 20 years!
Wow!
Thank you!
@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna so happy to hear! I think it’s like learning a new language. They’re trying to understand you too 🤗

Welcome back. Missed you. I enjoy hearing what you both have been up to and, of course, the knits and crochet. 😊
Thank you for the very sweet comment!
Warm greetings from Germany, would hit thumbs up more than once if I could 🥰
Uta
Oh, would love to see Alphonse!!
Much enjoyed the podcast. Welcome back! 💕
i just ordered a row counter like Jonna's from etsy--after spending abt 10minutes figuring what row i was on [Camping Pullover] bc my row counter wheel is too loose and my post-it on the pattern moved 😕! thx for the tip!
Thank you so much for your sweet mention! It truly was an honor to play for you😊🎵❤️Loved the episode🤩 The background noise is totally fine. Not bothersome at all so don’t worry😊
Thank you! Kim thinks she has it figured out now, so next time will be improved!!

Great show !!!!
Kim, I'm knitting the Solare sweater and would also like to switch from W&T to GSR. Do you have any recos for how to do that? Thanks!
😜 Kim
Congratulations on 15k.
🎉
Good to see you two together. ❤

Thank you!
Hi Karen,
I'm so happy that you're going to crochet a Primrose!
But here is a list of my colors:
Light pink = 66
Pink = 63
Red = 20
Orange = 16
Yellow = 52
Light green = 71
Green = 68
Teal = 92
Turquoise = 38
Light turquoise = 42
Light blue = 97
Violet = 84
Light purple = 34
Purple = 28
I hope that helps!!! ❤️Kim

I’m so glad you enjoyed my granny square videos! Your squares look great! 😊
Oh thank you! 😊 You're so sweet to comment!
Good to see you both again, completely understand the absence…. Family comes first! ❤❤Love the bloopers at the end… keeping it real!❤❤

I so enjoy watching you! - I was actually in Tuscany on a knitting retreat in June it was wonderful!! In swedish and norwegian though 😉
Walmart has thin long sleeves. I buy them for under sweaters. Nothing fancy.
Perfect!
Oh, seeing your Ankar shirt makes me want to cast one on!! ❤
Hi Chrissy! Jonna wants to make them ALL!

@@KnitTogetherwithKimJonna Yeah that might also work

Bye
Her name is Madeline Grace and thank you!
Kim I miss your blonde hair
how lovely looking to you both… knitting on a ranunculus.
There is whispering in the background ... or maybe I'm hearing voices😂 no worries though, we hear you guys very well!! Thanks for all you share!!
It's whispering! So sorry...we think we've identified the problem. Here's to the next episode!
The microphone cover is called a “dead cat”
Good to know!!
Hi Margaret! Let us know when you'll be visiting again and we can meet up!

It sounds like you're recording in the central reservation of a motorway or is it the aircon? - I realise you probably need it but it's really loud!
Oh, yes, we know!! Kim thinks she has it figured out now. So sorry!!
Sooo happy for another episode 😍I’m glad you talked about the weekender- mine’s in timeout 🙃I can’t even remember what bothered me - so come September - after my trip to see my Mama in Austria- I’ll try again
