08:21 for 2003+ they added a metal plate on the right front of the engine to crush the coolant over flow tank. The 03+ fuel rail is different with the addition of a fuel rail pressure sensor, at the right front, and during testing the overflow tank was pushing back and busting the fuel rail sensor off causing a fuel leak. Great Video...
19:03 doesn't the thermostat seal go on top of the the thermostat? Also I would fill up the engine with coolant through the thermostat opening up to the thermostat and then put the thermostat in place to prevent a big air pocket from being trapped under the thermostat. Great video...
Yes sir!!! I have put so many of the different types of intakes. The best is the Ford P71 police interceptor. It gives you higher rpm power. The Dorman and some of the ENay intakes have small runners and it kills the top end. I had 1 intake that was so bad my 08'P71 wouldn't go over 5k rpms lol. I took it off and went to Ford. But now there is the Ford P71 intake aftermarket with the proper design.
Hey Mike. Big tip is don’t use a wrench on your radiator drain bolt. The head is plastic and you risk snapping it off. (I have done). Instead, inside the bolt’s head there should be a torques bit you can safely use to remove the same plastic bolt.
08:31 do not remove the EGR valve on any of these cars that have been in salt, just undo the two 10 mm bolts holding the EGR to the throttle body and leave the EGR valve on the EGR valve pipe, 8% of guys bust the EGR valve pipe trying to unnecessarily remove the EGR valve. Also do not press on the pipe or pull on it to "bend" it more out of the way, if they are rusted, they will bust...
I know there is stigma with cheap parts. I paid $39.99 for all 8 coils on Amazon. My cousin payed over $300 for his Accel coils. I changed mine out after 3 years just because. He had to change his again. But i had $80 bucks in my with 2 sets. Never had a problem.
12:40 are you sure that is a Dorman, it doesn't have the Dorman logo, it doesn't say "made in USA" in the same spot that the OEM does. Look up a real Dorman intake and you will see these things, also Dorman uses big thick gaskets underside for the air intake runners. It might be a Dorman, but...... Great video
If you want to gain another 10 horsepower. Get ahold of Ben Alameda Racing on UA-cam. He started porting these plenum and throttlebodies for the California Highway Patrol. He was in Mustangs in Fast Fords in the early 2000s. They dynoed the cars. He got 10 horse and 15 pound feet. Hes in Las Vegas now i believe. Hes was going to do mine but i decided to Ls3 swap my P71.
Great episode! I like your clear and pointed explaination of the upgrade. Makes me want to go out and wrench on my own project right now! Thanks
