Hi Brittany, it’s funny you should release this video just now because I used mine for the first time only yesterday ! My husband got me one for Christmas last year. He just loves a gadget ! I’ve not been a great bias tape user, so it just sat there is my sewing room, unopened and unloved 😢😆 So, I’d been making a shirt, which required a narrow rolled hem for its curved hi-low finish. I had a sudden thought that a bound hem would be a good finish 😮 So, that’s what I did. After setting up the machine and preparing the fabric for the binding I began. The machine was very easy to set up and operate and I’m very impressed with the result. In fact it gives the garment a more high end finish ! There are so many opportunities for using the machine and I thoroughly recommend it. One word of warning though, the plate and its cover do get very hot, so you should be very careful when removing and replacing the plate when you first connect your fabric into the machine, and of course, don’t let children play with it !!
Well, that’s interesting. I just got my bias tape maker out and came looking for a video because I had my usual memory block about how to sew my strands My bias does come out of my machine hot so I need to look into that I didn’t pay full price of my machine. It was on sale and I don’t think I would pay full price However, because I bias most hems it has more than paid for itself that’s including the ironing mat and little steam less ironI use with it. I will say to cut the material and then sew the strips and then make the bias does take some time but I think it’s well worth it Thanks for sharing Brittany
@@louisejeffries7155 thanks for sharing that. I thought mine would’ve been hot too, but it wasn’t. Perhaps had I touched it immediately while it was coming through it 🤔I also didn’t have it up to max either just at cotton so maybe that’s why but I’ll be testing it again to see. That’s awesome that you do most of your hems in bias tape. I bet that gives it a beautiful finish. And yes depending on how much you plan to make, cutting and sewing the strips can be a little time consuming. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@misclaudiarene6752 i’m in the southern hemisphere so our Joann equivalent is spotlight. Actually, an American store but I’ve never heard anybody speak about it other than in the Southern hemisphere I also bought mine awhile back Keep your ears to the ground Google etc one will come up All the best
I like the fact that you can use the same material for the bias tape. I am like you, I do purchase gadgets (honestly got that from my dad). Thanks for sharing. 😊
I think its crazy how they went from around $39.00 in Walmart then discontinued the product. A few years later they return at $230. The folds do not retain their shape when cooled, maybe if you starch the fabric first? I sold mine for $150 when they pulled them off the shelves about 10 years ago. I love this product review. Thanks Brittany.
Thank you for the video, I LOVE IT, I use the QAYG method using bias tape cover strips plus the bias tape for the quilt itself. I would love it!!! Maybe some day!
Wow! Yours is the first demo that has truly impressed me. Ive wanted to buy one, but I’ve watched others and decided not to. You’ve changed my mind. Thanks for sharing. You made it seem and look so easy. I love gadgets and I would starch my fabric first before putting it through the machine. Christmas gift 🎁. Good idea. 😊
Hey Britt Britt...I'm definitely a sewing gadget person.....one thing that I just noticed is that most things are self contained in the kit.....ok back to the video 📹
Omgoodness I'm a sucker for sewing gadgets lol. I make a lot of quilts and usually just do it the old fashioned way, I might have to check this out. Thank you for sharing.
I love gadgets 😆. If you’re quilter you may get a lot of use of it. If you give it a go, I’d love your thoughts on if you find it useful for your quilts!
Thank you so much for this thorough review. I think it works pretty good. Will put on my "would like to get", or "birthday or Christmas" wish list 😅, considering it's a bit pricey. Maybe it'll go on sale for Black Friday 🤷🏽♀️.
Love it and me too! I love gadgets, but this bad boy is crazy.... I make cat collars and it’s literally bias tape but I do add iron stabilizer.... maybe someone will try that 😉... then I’d have to seriously start saving lol
@@rmjackson5580 oh good question. I’ve never used a binder presser foot so I can’t speak to that. Does the presser foot make the binder as you’re sewing it on? That could be more beneficial but again I’ve never used it so I can’t honestly say. Sorry.
Cool tool

Ive had one for about 10 years and i love it. I make a lot of quilt binding.
Brittany, I would like to know where to get those weights that you use when you cut the material out. Where did you get those weights from?

Is this a better option than a bias binder presser foot?
