Gruggs been putting in work and with some very good knives ,fixed & folders. The 124 by Buck is a fantastic fixed blade you choose a great company and knife Charles. 💯⚖️💯
Brother like I said it is my favorite blade. It is freaking awesome! This is my one knife if it was all I could have! Trailmaster is number 2 and that says something!
Good review thanks! I've always wondered why this knife is not more popular. I had a Buck 120 which I loved but lost it. I was very happy with the steel because of it's excellent edge retention. I could fillet a bunch of large fish and not have to resharpen it. I've never tried the 124. I might have to get one.
Finally got my hands on a 124. Working on it for a friend, edge profiling, etc. the handle definately needs work but i love the blade and the balance of the knife. Definately want one.
I will charlie, i can see at least 1/4 of that handle going away. A dremmel with a drum is the way to go for blending the radius, 1” belt sander will square away the side contours. Most of my knives are eithe full flats or sabres but i want a larger knife with hollow grind for food prepp. Thanks for the vid bud ! 🇺🇸💪🏻👊🏻
I love the 124 it’s my second favorite production buck. My first is is the 120 General. My dream buck is the big and bad Buck 916 but you can only get it through the custom shop 😢 and it’s expensive !
Yeah it is a great all around use blade. The 420 HC makes it perfect for any environment. Thanks for the comment, always love hearing someone else thinks a lot of my favorite knife!
Back in the day this knife was originally made for divers, so the theory is they made the handle extra long to account for people using it with gloves. Great blessing for those of us with giant hands lol.
Yeah I have seen the Divers Knife version once, I was glad when they brought it back as a regular knife rather than a limited edition. Love it> Thanks James
So when I get mine, which I will tomorrow. When I sharpen it. Set my Ken Onion Work sharp, to 25 degree's, which is easy enough to do. But I thought all Buck Sheath knives where sharpened to 20 degree's. Well I learned something, thank you.
Thanks for the view and comment. Not sure if mine came at 25 or I sharpened it to 25 to be honest. I just know in the years I have had it I have always sharpened it at 25.
@@charlesjonestherednecknerd Well I've emailed BUCK so I will wait and see. Its not hard for me to do. I have the Ken Onion Work Sharp. Yes it is a belt sharpener, but you can adjust the speed, and angle.
@@charlesjonestherednecknerd Get the Ken Onion edition. Its very adjustable. Also get the belt grinder attachment. Thats good for axes and other tools. I have both.
I have no idea, but it is thicker than the usual buck knives, has a visible full tang, taller blade, and micarta handles. Is that worth the price difference? I really don't know, when it was $130 it was to me anyway, at $180 if I had not had one and used one, maybe not. Thanks Dan.
I have seen some crossdraw sheaths on Amazon that are all leather and have good reviews. Unfortunately I have no experience personally with the sellers/makers or the sheaths themselves.
Hell yeah bro! My favorite of that Buck series!
Yep it is great brother! Thanks for stopping by!
Great shout outs my friend
Thank you brother Donavan.
Wow you are talented carving!!!
Well, more likely lucky and just too dumb to not realize what I don't know or do. Thanks brother.
BOS baby!!!! One of the best in the business!!!
Yeah their heat treat with Paul Bos trained personnel I do believe uses actual Dragons for the heat treat.....
@@charlesjonestherednecknerd dragons breath!
@@LegionTacticoolCutlery Whoops I do believe I left out the breath part rereading my reply.....Sad but you understood!
She is a beautiful classic Charles!!!
A great agil bowieknife👍😁
Yeah it really is and very functional as an all around knife for carry and camp.
Yep, great knife. I’ve had one for years .
Love this blade always have!! Great video brother! Also appreciate the shout out!!
Yeah Brandon, the garage inspired brother! This knife is a joy to use! Thanks for stopping by the RNN zone!
Glad this came up in my feed. Excellent review made better with genuine experience behind it.
Thank you, I appreciate the view and compliment very much.
@@charlesjonestherednecknerd I'm enjoying catching up on your content. One of the benefits of a late discovery is the binge watching that follows.👍
Great video
Thanks! Suzer!

Right back at you my blade brother.

@@charlesjonestherednecknerd there's just something about it brother just something about it that screams at me
Awesome. I'm definitely a Buck fan
Me too and thanks for stopping by.
Awsome! I was thinking bout getting one of these but with cocobolo wood scales
It is an awesome knife. Wish they would do a custom one where you could choose the steel and handle scales. I would most definitely get another!
@@charlesjonestherednecknerd they do have different handle scales. But not different steels. As far as I know
Practice practice practice. Right on brother. Classic knife. Never had one, but she’s a beauty.
It is an unbelievably versatile knife.
Buck 124 is awesome, one of the coolest blades in American history,
I totally agree. Thanks for stopping by the RNN house

I wonder that as well it is a really good knife, expensive but good.

@@swampdonkeyoffgrid190 It really was my pleasure.
I can't disagree with you, definitely a classic. keep it good health friend
32 years ago when Buck was in California I bought a Buck 124 with a Rosewood handle. I keep it in it's black leather sheath.
Sounds awesome. Thanks for stopping by.
Bucks beast knife!
Yeah it just has this feel in my hand I can't really explain. You have to experience a knife that just feels right to understand!
I love the 124 it’s my second favorite production buck. My first is is the 120 General. My dream buck is the big and bad Buck 916 but you can only get it through the custom shop 😢 and it’s expensive !
True that the 916 customized would be a great knife! Thanks Knifenerd.
Been carrying a 124 for years hombre ,inthe mountains and the swampsmy go to blade
Yeah it is a great all around use blade. The 420 HC makes it perfect for any environment. Thanks for the comment, always love hearing someone else thinks a lot of my favorite knife!
It's a 99% flawless knife. Just wish the handle was a TINY bit smaller and more rounded.
Yeah I rounded the edges some on mine to make it more comfortable. Without the Sasquatch fingers I have the thickness would be a problem as well.
Back in the day this knife was originally made for divers, so the theory is they made the handle extra long to account for people using it with gloves. Great blessing for those of us with giant hands lol.

Bought this knife close to month ago , does anyone have any recommendations for aftermarket sheaths ?
I have seen some crossdraw sheaths on Amazon that are all leather and have good reviews. Unfortunately I have no experience personally with the sellers/makers or the sheaths themselves.
I'm wanting the 124 , hell I just got the 119 after all these years and I have a decent collection I don't know why I haven't gotten one yet
Yeah I get it. I have a bunch of knives and there are some I ask myself why the hell haven't I bought them yet?
Get one! Its a 119 on steroids
