Jess Jackson is a british producer, songwriter and DJ who has produced for pop artists such as Nicki Minaj, Chris Brown, and Busta Rhymes. In this video, he reveals his vocal mixing secrets using Antares Auto-Tune Realtime.
Jess starts off by walking through a basic Antares Auto-Tune Realtime’s setup, teaching you his go to settings for a polished pop vocal sound. Then Jess invites singer-songwriter AJ Mitchell to the studio and demonstrates recording vocals through Auto-Tune in real-time. In addition to the standard pitch correction processing, Jess teaches you modern production techniques that rely on Auto-Tune such as screw vocals, vocal stacks, and distinguishing vocal stacks through panning and scale detuning tricks.

unbelievably well explained...to the point, no wafsofte wafsofte chat...you´re the dude ..thanks!
🥂
This tutorial was outstanding. The best I've seen. It would be great to see more in-depth tutorials like this. It makes thr plugins less intimidating and fuels the drive to invest in UAD's brilliant brand. I'll be upgrading to the quad, in the near future. #AllIn💪
👍
Very good Video we need more of this, helpful. 👍🏾

yessirrrr
Love the tutorial, love the quality of the video and the audio! Song name?
SUPER SUPER USEFUL!!!!! thanks a lot UAD, ;)
Ayoooo I watch this video all the time and I highly appreciate this tutorial lots no cap❗
👍🏻
Great Video very helpful

Greetings, yes, I appreciate this
That singer was so good and great video thanks man
nice i like this , yeah love it Antares Auto-tune
Yes, awesome tutorial, what song is the instrumental?
great video!! where can I find the song?? it´s pretty dope
good tutorial, one question about soft recording. How do you do it? lol
Hey, thank you very much for the review. How do you add electric app to the tracks? (Real electric app)
Thnx❤️❤️
what's the track on the background????
it's super awesome!! share please
This video sold the preset. I have to get it now
it's 8 minutes, but its also way better than most 5 min ones ;)
universal audio, ok i see you used the SSL as your pre amp, so did you use another Mic Pre , or a distresser, also with it, or another hard ware with it, please and tks,
Might be late but is there any way to formant shift a vocal in the UAD auto tune?
What’s that song in the background? It’s beautiful !
yeah what is this song?
now lets see whats in the rest of that vocal chain jess :)
cool!
GL bro
How can I add a color emoticon "fire" in the track name?
Where do I put AT if i don't want to record the AT but want to hear it in the headphones when recording. I know how to turn off UAD Rec., but I have a CL1B plugin I do want recorded.
Apart from using this live, how is this different EFX+ ?
Does soft soft co with the samples? And are these copyright free?
This UAD version doesn't have graphical mode though right (ie no post tracking editing)? Which renders it pretty useless considering the full version of antares autotune pro has realtime low latency function as well as graphical editing and is just $50 more ? Please enlighten ?
Tomorrow I bought autotune realtime advanced, and according to uad if we buy advanced version of autotune then we also get autotune realtime and autotune access but in my system only autotune realtime advanced is showing active, rest both versions in demo mode , please fix the problem
but the plugins are no longer on the uaudio sales list
What mic is that?
I have an apollo twin, when I try to buy autotune the UAD site says I don't have UAD hardware , what am I doing wrong
How can you record your insert effects, but still want to ONLY HEAR Autotune engaged while recording vocals. (So EQ + compression recorded/printed, but autotune not printed in your take).
Why does the track volume come up every time he demonstrates the affect?
I have got the real time advance and still can't find the throat option as the guy used in this video ??
Anybody found it ?
Important question I already have Antares Auto-tune with Ilok can I just transfer it to my Apollo twin duo ?
the answer will be no for sure... I've already asked this about other plugs I owned that came out on UAD platform and they always say you need to purchase the "uad version" in full. Kinda sucks there isnt an offer from Antares or others to crossgrade for a lesser fee since we already own the original, but I get it, its business.
Uad's Autotune is DSP, while your previous version is Native, so it will not work on the UAD platform.
*MUSIC NAME?*
At 5:27 does he low and high pitch the vocal with the Autotune plugin? I tried to automate the "Input type" but the main pitch wasn't changed with that.
Transpose budd.
You've got to transpose on the daw then set the input setting on Autotune.
duplicate the tracks you want to pitch to another track set the pitches then do this
I hate that it has no transpose 💔
isn't there like a piano roll? to be able to put vocals in whatever note i want them in? I've had the uad apollo twin duo and pro tools and don't know how to do it? Any help? I know I'm not the eonly one! Thank you!
Peter Briceno idk if u found out already but I believe ur talking about wave tunes
If I already owned Auto Tune Pro (Standard full version) previously before buying my Apollo Twin can I use it as an insert inside of console to take advantage of the zero-latency? Which is the best way to insert it thru the UAD console?
No, that's an entirely different version that doesn't run on our platform.
@@UniversalAudio y'all need fix that lame shxt
Is Auto tune in real time available with the UA arrow ?
Yes but he aware that Auto Tune uses a lot of arrows DSP due to the fact that it’s very limited, you can get a free two week demo to see if it’s right for you
Quick question, even though this is autotune live, can I still put it on after I've already recorded a vocal like the regular autotune or will it only work in real time? thanks!
Eli yeah
Eli you can do both even print the monitored auto tune
He said yes in the tutorial lol
Hi, just bought this plugin and i'm putting on the insert slot in Logic Pro X in my Voice Track but it doesn't seems to work...is not receiving my signal I don't no why... Thanks!
Hey Daniel, get in touch with Customer Support, they'll walk you through some detailed troubleshooting steps. help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/210253543-Contact-Support
Universal i kinda need a quick response i just stated the 14 day trial for the SSL channel strip, so my question is i usually use the UA 610b for my pre amp , but i see here on your video, you say to use the SSL Channel strip, for this AutoTune, so should i continue to use the Ua 610, or since i have the SSL for a trial if i like ill buy it, should i use that now for my plugin on preamp, or just on my insert where you said to put it before the Autotune Plugin, so basically do i still put a pre amp on the preamp spot, or no, because you said to put it on the insert, but wouldnt i still need a preamp, and since now i have the SSL should i use that for my preamp over the UA 610, or should i buy the Neve, Please Respond I only have 14 days to figure this out,
Or did you only put the SSL on the Pre Amp or did You Put the SSL on the Insert before the Autotune, If you know what i mean
Unison plug-ins go into the Unison slot of console, wether it be the UA-610, Neve 88RS or the SSL that you have for a trial. The inserts are where you would put everything else including the autotune plug in. You don't need to put anything in the unison slot if you don't want to.
yeah, ok, yep, knew that, i just saw that in the video, on the inserts he used the SSL, and then the Auto tune, so my question is , is what plugin did he use for the unison in the pre amp, weather it was the Ua610, or neve, or did he even use a plugin in the unison slot, or mabby he's using a Mic Pre out side of the Unison plugin was my question
The Apollo unit has mic pres built in, the unison preamp is just a software emulation using the existing preamp within the unit.
i know i was just wondering what pre amp plugin did he use for this video in the unison slot,
i see he used the ssl and auto tune for the inserts, but was wondering what pre amp plugin did he use in the unison slot, or if he even used a pre amp plugin
The SSL was used as the unison module, that's what shows on the top bar of the plug-in in the video.
cool so I can install auto tune onto my Apollo twin?
Does anyone know the brand and model of that microphone by any chance?
Prod. By MDOTDASUPA looks like an ELAM 251
Is there a possibility to listen to the processed signal but record it raw?
Yes, in the UA Console app, set it to "UAD MON" mode which means you'll hear the effect but it won't be recorded into your DAW
You could also put AutoTune on the AUX channel, set AUX to PRE fader, and then track your raw vocal on the main track, while tracking the AutoTune version on the AUX. Just rout the AUX in your DAW to a different track there.
clapsssssssssss1!!!
If I already own auto tune, do I need to buy the UAD plugin?
Yes, it's separate from the Antares native version.
How many instances of autotune can you run? I can only run 3 instances on my apollo twin solo
Hey mozes7, that sounds about right based on our DSP chart. help.uaudio.com/hc/en-us/articles/215262223-UAD-2-DSP-Chart
Can I still get this version of Autotune on my twin?? Only find the newer versions and I don’t really like the new sound
Antares updated it to this version.
@@UniversalAudio So Can I Get this version of autotune realtime if I buy the advanced one?
Where can i get this DOPE song ?

What happens if I use the detune feature nobody ever explains that part I know by default it's set to 440 but what if I changed it to other hrtz what would that do
It allows for alternate down/up tunings.
@@UniversalAudio I'm confused can you explain it a little bit more in detail please sir
Let's say you tune down a half step or use 432 instead of 440. This allows you to correct for this difference.
@@UniversalAudio ok but do you think has anything to do with the way we feel or think like let's say the theory of 440 hrtz cuts off your subconscious feelings and makes you think more
While 432hrtz deals with your emotions or feelings what do you have to say about that like do the hrtz for autotune have anything to do with binural engineering
does the demo version to try for 14 days in UAD not give you the option to try the live tracking out..?
it does. It's fully functional.
@@UniversalAudio I got it the other day and at the bottom left there is no option or picture of the microphone for the live tracking option, is there a certain OS I need to be on? Because I am still on Catalina OS since the new Pro Tools wouldn't work on the latest OS for me! I would really appreciate your help here, I already got the demo and I am trying to use it before purchasing to see if I would make the investment...thank you!
For realtime operation you need to run it in Console.
@@UniversalAudio I was running it in my UAD Console, thats where I started the trial from. I had my LA2A on my console track and could hear my voice going through that, without that live tracking button, but when I got the demo for Autotune, I opened it and there was no option at the bottom left for the live tracking, it just says UAD-2 and an icon of a folder.
Do you mean the native version of Autotune? That's not a UAD plugin and will not have LiveTrack mode.
Sa here
This technique i used in my latest composition Dope Sick , ( whispering parts )

Bro this dudes voice made me see the light
When i activate auto-tune, the voice is heard twice (live and corrected), how disable this?
Sounds like you need to turn off software monitoring in your DAW. Pro Tools calls this Low Latency Monitor Mode in case that's your DAW.
I tried this same thing without my DAW open and i got the same result as you Cristian
should i expect this to be better then the built-in auto-tune\pitch-correction plugin that comes with Logic Pro X ....??
a lot better well at least Antares efx 3 is
I'd like to buy this guy some new pants.
I'd love to buy you some fashion sense.
and sombrero!
this guy can buy you a life
whats the name of this song
Hi Rico, song info is in the video notes.
This song is amazing, what is the name please?
Buyer beware UAD auto tune does not work on OS 10.8.5
Can you explain what each of those nobss mean.... We're not all experts you know...
Retune speed controls how many milliseconds it takes for auto tune to drag the vocal to the correct note, turn it all the way to 0 for the auto tune effect, use a setting of 30 or higher of you’re looking for a more natural tune. Correction style let’s more pitch divination get through which will make it sound more natural, so once you got the retune speed setting you like, turn up the correction style knob for a more natural sound. Natural vibrato can either increase or decrease the amount of natural vibrato in the performance, but this knob is rarely used, by me anyway. Humanize automatically slows down the retune speed when it detects long notes, which will allow subtle pitch variations which will give you a more natural sound, it may be subtle but it really does make a big difference in the grand scheme. The knobs on the right really deserve a tutorial of their own, they’re used to create artificial vibrato and it’s complex.

Great 📹 but I dislike how an autonune sounds
Effect to obvious. I thought the purpose is to tune vocals without noticing the tuning. (Melodyne anyone?)
And now in english please...!
Would love to do business with u hit me up as soon as u can please
Since when does Slim Shady have an British Accent!
