Those lightning welks were pretty and big but of course they were alive. Glad you were able to find some sand dollars. Lots of beautiful scallops. I think you got a good haul there on that beach.

My mom (age 87) and I ( a bit younger ;) really look forward to your Sunday virtual beach walks. The shells are beautiful, and the surf sounds are so relaxing. I really liked the idea of writing on the shells and hanging them on the beach shrubs. Are all of the shells in the shrubs hung there by people? I was wondering if the shells might get hung there during storms? Just very interesting to me. Love the Florida fighting conks - any size. Great patterns Thank you so much for the great videos- we feel like we are on vacation for a while :) take care
I think shells might get stuck in the base or trunks of trees after storms, but the shells you see on the trees were definitely hung there by other beach walkers. I just love them :) Thanks so much for watching!

Wow! That was definitely worth the trip! So many beautiful things. Change of subject: You said something in a previous video about using a big old Giant Cockle shell to hold other shells. I was delighted with the idea as I have been putting together collections of tiny shells (I see other people comment on liking the tinies too). I try to get 20 or more different types of shell in each collection and Have been struggling with how to display or package them as gifts. The Cockle is perfect! I am now working on my 4th and 5th collection. There’s something so satisfying about holding a whole beautiful beach worth of shells in the palm of just one hand. Thanks for the suggestion!

I had no idea that scallop shells came in that many colors. How lovely they are!! I live in Tampa and bound to a scooter to get around. It is not an all terrain. I used to go shelling on the east coast of Florida in Cape Canaveral Seashores. I found an 11 inch lightning wilk and a 5.5 in alabaster with pink inside Giant Eastern Murex. I left them with my ex and moved to Tampa years ago. Love your show it is very enjoyable.
@@SWFBeachLife I love pretty shells and you have made it easy for me to walk the beach. You see I am in an electric scooter. I opted for the lighter folding one so I could fly north to see my family. The all terrain style would have been great for beach combing.

Wowza! What a haul! I agree with you that shelling is difficult in summer. In winter I had them rolling right to me lol. It’s been slim pickings on Sanibel, going to drive to different beaches and hopefully I’ll get lucky. Great beach walk and I’m looking forward to see what you do with the sand dollars you found.
I walked FMB last Saturday and it was pretty slim pickings too. I was shocked at all the things I found in Marco. I hope I continue to have at least a little luck all summer long - eek!
My husband and I have been going to Sanibel for 4 years now. Of all the shells we’ve found, we’ve never found a rose petal tellin. A friend of ours told me to go to Tigertail Beach. I was glad to see you found them there. I’m definitely going to make that a bucket list trip.
So Sharmon this was interesting. I loved the turtle hospital and all the turtles. Very educational and I love sea turtles. The water and beaches however were just not my cup of tea. I always pictured the keys being tropical paradise. Love all your adventures but SW Florida is just the best all around for beauty, beaches, the water and most important, the shells. So I look forward to Tigertail next week!
I went shelling on Navarre beach the day after that recent tropical storm made landfall. Lots of broken shells when the tide went out to about 0.5 ft. I found my first banded tulip and a hinged bitter sweet clam. I’m going with my family this week to get those negative low tide shells! 😁 Can’t wait to see what you find from that recent storm.
Oh a hinged bittersweet is awesome! We didn't get much of a storm down here (thankfully) but still hoping there was enough churning to stir up some goodies! Fingers crossed!
Gotta love the blooming"railroad vines"! Right on the turkey wing! 😃 Awesome finding all those live lw's! Yeah I think those were live barnacles too. BTW, on an old "I Love Shelling" video, I learned that the dark lightning whelks are male and the light-colored ones are female. Maybe you already knew that. You really did well for summer shelling!🌴 Thanks, Sharmon! xxoo
I've heard that about the dark colors of the male lightning whelks. It seems strange that almost all the live ones I find are that dark beautiful color. I would think I would find a mix but maybe the females know how to hide better :) Summer shelling really makes me work but I like a challenge!
Quite a few people have said they've never found one. I seem to find them pretty regularly - strange! I found a few at Fort Myers Beach last weekend. I hope you find a bunch when you come on October!
Another thought, saw in beginning you had another ring on, by middle did not see that ring hoping you did not loose. Also really cool seeing that fish swimming past you. Again Thanks So Much❤
Dang those lightning whelks are beautiful, but it does seem frustrating when every single one is alive. Cool top snails! They are quite hard to find alive, like you, I've only seen one alive. It was attached to a giant live lightning whelk on Cape Romano Shoals. Thanks for the great beach walk as always!
Hi my name is Jennifer and I've been watching your videos for almost a year now, loving them! Watching them has really got me wanting to come down there for a vacation, not to mention a few other reasons. But my question is, do you know of any good and affordable places to stay that would have a full kitchen and near the beach?
Lots of places you can rent with a full kitchen through VRBO or AirBnB, affordable is a different story. Anything near the beach is going to be more on the expensive side. Everyone wants to be near the beach :)
I just love walking on the beach and learning about all these shells. My favourite are the rose petal tellin shells. I’d love to find a lot and put them in a beautiful jar for display. I guess when your area has a hurricane that stirs up a lot of different shells and leaves them on the beach. Do you ever check the beaches after all the water recedes to see what’s left behind? Love the colour of your top/jacket, it’s so beachy. I wanted to ask, where do you put your shells while your looking for more? Thanks for a great walk!!💗 🐚
I try to visit the beach at low tide to explore as much of the beach as possible, but my schedule doesn't always allow me to go when I want ☺️ Visiting the beach after a storm is always great because it's just a mess and they will be all sorts of goodies all over the beach. I show in this video what I use to carry all my goodies in: ua-cam.com/video/McjkI-8etZ4/v-deo.html It's old and beat up, but it still works!
I love your channel and actually found it when I was looking for tips on how to shell before going to Marco Island! I went there in April and found some really beautiful shells
Great video as always. I don't shell much in the summer, unless a storm comes in. My friend cut through the lagoon and got a bad infection from a tiny cut she had. It is a trek to go around, though.
It's hard to decide which is really the best route. I was glad it was there as I was hustling back to my car. I'm glad I spied people using the path to the lagoon so I could figure out where it was!
I was thinking about people who collect rocks on my last video walk. I think having a passion for finding certain goodies is just such a treat. And to be able to go out and hunt for them is just so much fun. Thanks so much for coming along my walk with me!
What a COLORFUL cołlection🐚🐚🐚🐚🏝 Thank U🤗🤡HUNT......like cloudy day on the beach like West Coast SF area, just much more wave action U get what U get on shore.....😜😍🙋
Do you use a Go-Pro to video your finds? I love your videos. You really should do walking shelling tours off small groups (two or three). I go to Sanibel every year for two weeks and would definitely love to walk with you on one of your adventures.
For all the underwater or in the water shelling I do, I do use a GoPro. So far it's worked great! And I do offer "shelling tours" of a sort. The info is on my website :)
Sure thing! Here is the lightning tracker I use: ua-cam.com/video/I9IPZ-7vZJc/v-deo.html And here is the tide app I use: ua-cam.com/video/skpXEeeU9ZU/v-deo.html
I do have a few projects in mind but I'm not great at my crafts quite yet. I have a few projects in mind though :) I'll share them soon as I find the time! Thanks for coming along with me!
Two questions : do you know what the vining flower was when you were first walking down to the beach ? And what do you do with all the shells you collect ? Thank you for sharing your beach adventure. It’s so pretty down there.
Yes, the vining flower is Ipomoea pes-caprae (scientific name) but I call it beach morning glory :) And then at the end of this older video, I show what I do with some of the shells I collect: ua-cam.com/video/d7SmDUcvdjU/v-deo.html I also finally got around to making a mirror I had been wanting to make: ua-cam.com/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/v-deo.html Thanks so much for watching!

I think you nailed it - SW Florida is the best all around for Beaty, beaches, water and shells!
I went shelling on Navarre beach the day after that recent tropical storm made landfall. Lots of broken shells when the tide went out to about 0.5 ft. I found my first banded tulip and a hinged bitter sweet clam. I’m going with my family this week to get those negative low tide shells! 😁
Can’t wait to see what you find from that recent storm.
Thank you for the beach walk! I can’t wait until I get there in October!! I have yet to find a rose petal tellin.
Quite a few people have said they've never found one. I seem to find them pretty regularly - strange! I found a few at Fort Myers Beach last weekend. I hope you find a bunch when you come on October!
So much fun! Thank you for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Anytime near water, wether clear or cloudy is a Great Day
Thanks Again For Sharing
EYL Chris from Chicago❤
Another thought, saw in beginning you had another ring on, by middle did not see that ring hoping you did not loose. Also really cool seeing that fish swimming past you. Again Thanks So Much❤
You have a good eye! I switched that ring to my other hand so I still wear it :)
You are so right about that! I will never complain about time spent at the beach!
There are quite a few more specimens I'd love to see alive. My first live paper fig was incredible! Hopefully more to come :)
Thank you for your input. Really love your videos!
Beautiful,just beautiful.
Great haul! I have yet to score a rose petal telan. I love the sunray Venus clams and calicos. So happy for your successful day. 🤗🐚🐚🐚🐚
Thank you so much! I hope you do finally find that elusive rose petal tellin the next time you get to go shelling :)
I show in this video what I use to carry all my goodies in: ua-cam.com/video/McjkI-8etZ4/v-deo.html
It's old and beat up, but it still works!
@@SWFBeachLife Thank you. 😊🐚
I love your channel and actually found it when I was looking for tips on how to shell before going to Marco Island! I went there in April and found some really beautiful shells
I'm looking forward to the early negative tides again. South Marco gave me so many goodies! :)
A LOT of great finds this week ☺️
I know - I was really surprised!
All great finds
Gorgeous live lightning whelks!
Enjoy your video's so much. Thank you.
Glad you like them! I appreciate you taking the time to watch them!
Beautiful shells!
Great video as always!
Glad you enjoyed!
Your as compassionate about your shells as I am with rocks lol
I was thinking about people who collect rocks on my last video walk. I think having a passion for finding certain goodies is just such a treat. And to be able to go out and hunt for them is just so much fun. Thanks so much for coming along my walk with me!
were going to marco next week! thank you for the parking tip!
You're very welcome! There are foot showers and a restroom at that far lot too!
Beautiful shells
you found some great goodies!
Would you be able to show us the doves in a sand dollar, sometime? Thanks for another great adventure...
I do have a couple of older sand dollars put to the side for that very reason :)
Nice day for shelling!
What a COLORFUL cołlection🐚🐚🐚🐚🏝
Thank U🤗🤡HUNT......like cloudy day on the beach like West Coast
SF area, just much more wave action U get what U get on shore.....😜😍🙋
Sometimes the clouds are good - especially in the summer to provide a little shade for my beach walk 🤗 Thanks so much for coming along!
Great video once again! Would you please share the tide and lighting app you use? Thanks in advance!
Sure thing! Here is the lightning tracker I use: ua-cam.com/video/I9IPZ-7vZJc/v-deo.html
And here is the tide app I use: ua-cam.com/video/skpXEeeU9ZU/v-deo.html
Time to relax
I love your videos !
Thank you so much!
Love your videos !

I live for Sunday’s so I can watch a new shelling video! Thank you!!!
You are so welcome!
Ya....a Rose Petal. 💕. Oooooo you have many Rose Petals 💕 💗
It was definitely a good day for rose petal tellins! Thank you or coming along with me!
Orange shells are my favorite!!
I love a good orange shell!
The the video as always ❤️ i think I would be a cool project if u make a rose or flower out of the rose petal talen
Yes, the vining flower is Ipomoea pes-caprae (scientific name) but I call it beach morning glory :)
And then at the end of this older video, I show what I do with some of the shells I collect: ua-cam.com/video/d7SmDUcvdjU/v-deo.html
I also finally got around to making a mirror I had been wanting to make: ua-cam.com/video/Mf5SVm8m5n8/v-deo.html
Thanks so much for watching!
@@SWFBeachLife Thank you for the reply. I just watched the links you sent. You made so many pretty items with your shells. I like them all. You’re so lucky to live that close to the ocean. Thanks for sharing !
@@Julie-ms9ss I am SO very lucky! 🙏🏼
