Another fun day with the Family and Alodia as I bring them with me to my meeting with Joby - the inventor of the Gorilla Pod. As we tour the main Joby headquarters we witness gorilla pods in all different sizes, shapes and forms. After a successful meeting the #VlogSquad is excited for what's to come with Joby. Good morning! It's good to be a part of the world today! My Monday schedule affords me a little time to grab a steaming cup of Lavazza Rossa, sit down and see what's happening in "Casa Daso." I love the morning energy of your house as everyone comes to life. It's not quiet and there's an energy that everyone seems to feed off as the morning opens up. I live vicariously through the vlogs as my two kids are definitely not morning people. They do not attack the day from its onset, but rather back into it, with silent hopes that their parents won't bother them with questions or conversation. Jennifer and I are morning people, but our kids.... not so much. We'll see what happens as time moves on and they mature. I'm not holding out to much hope for the near future... but hope springs eternal.
Yep, you're famous now! Funny how being famous doesn't stop people from hammering outside your windows and creating irritants in your daily life. Despite that, congratulations for the harnessing the passion in your gut and giving it life through sweat, hard work, and persistence. I remember watching some of your older videos in the Philippines and your fame was pretty clear. There were moments when you couldn't move down a sidewalk or walk in a shopping mall without being deluged by crowds wishing you well and wanting a moment of your time for a selfie. I don't know if I could have negotiated that portion of fame well. You seemed to be perpetually gracious and sincerely smiled and talked to people who wanted just a short time with you. Perhaps this time away from the intense limelight of Manila will be a good break for you. The relative anonymity you experience in northern California could give you the room you need for a recharge of batteries so you are able to go out with an even stronger resolve to grow and stretch your creative efforts. Just a thought...
Okay... I took in the vlog, got quiet, closed my eyes and waited for some sort of image to pop into my head. The recurring picture that kept appearing was a pack of wolves. Yes, wolves... Wolves move as a singular unit. Although the pack is made up of a number of members, each one has a role, and ensures that the group not only survives, but thrives. The idea of the lone wolf is a romantic ideal that a lot of us have unrealistic thoughts about. Some of us have dreams of standing alone and kicking the big bad world's ass, and being great conquerors in life. In the end... what does it profit a man to succeed and walk alone? I don't know about you, but I want to run with my own pack. Yes, maybe Pudra or Haley could have taken Wil and Alodia to Jobi to pick up the new "whiz bang" gorilla tripods, but you decided that traveling as a pack was far better and way more enjoyable.
When I began thinking of you all as a pack, your trip to Jobi was much more fun to interpret. Alodia is a pack adoptee, and she has found her pace as she's running with the pack. She's a wonderful sweet counterbalance to Haley's noisy exuberance. And the roasting... it's simply how your pack has decided to express their howls. Every member has a different voice, but all of you sing together with each roast, for a unique harmony. The leaders of the pack set the tone too. Although they caught a bit of roasting for holding hands, it set an example for me as Papa wolf in my own pack. I want to let my cubs know that treating Mama wolf well and showing her appropriate affection is the way the pack grows stronger.
Again, thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn and share what I see in the vlogs. Perhaps someday I'll plug myself, but for now I'm just having fun, watching and commenting.
