I had a week's holiday in Dubrovnik on the basis of what I saw in @ForestArchaicCollective's video of it. Delighted to go, I had a fantastic time and knew something of what to see and where to go. Sun, now, would be great! Perhaps we should find a way of sending them off to equatorial regions, or the Southern hemisphere from Nov - Feb every year to make films? We would need to see the history, architecture, beaches, botanical delights and coffee options for each city or region ...
@@ForestArchaicCollective It was quite a long gap from your last vid' and I was concerned that you weren't going to post again. I REALLY enjoy your informative, well written, well filmed, fun videos with a heavy emphasis on history! We can all learn from the rise and fall of past civilisations. And where to buy decent coffee
@@Neilhuny you are too kind 😊 I was actually wondering at the time if anyone had noticed we'd gone dark for a while, The music for this one proved unusually time consuming but thankfully we have several episodes lined up so there shouldn't be prohibitively long waits for the next few
Its amazing that the Ottoman siege of Candia lasted for 21 years in total! Such a great shame the marvelous Cretan Muslim/Turkish Mosques on the island are in such a debilitated state!
Yh its pretty intense, while i gather at different times there was some coming & going (no city can store up 20 years of food no matter how hard they try) Its staggering to think that youd have children turning 18 who'd never known anything but life inside the besieged town
Brilliant, thank you! ♥
Love it ❤
Excellent intro to the Venetian Republic. I didn't realise that it was so extensive. Very good camera shots.
Seriously want to go on a sunshine holiday now 😊
mate... it is doing my head in cutting these together 😩 esp. knowing the very soonest i could be back out in the Aegean is at least 6-9 months 😓

The lion footage made me chuckle! It’s beautiful to see such a record of passion for a subject mate, can't wait for the next installment.
Gorgeous light at the start. Impressive structures and great settings. Quite a project to work on for 5+ years!
