That is a beautiful collection of bells. Love it! It must be an honor to have in your possession the very bells that represented the most dangerous level crossing in Victoria. I think I saw the very same teardrop bell in the VR shop when I went there in October last year (I bought a hybrid bell on EBay from there, and I think the teardrop was on EBay too). Must say, it's a massive piece of equipment. You'd practically need a trolley to push it around.
Where i come from (Shepparton) used to have a fast-ringing WABCO mechanical bell on the Wyndham St crossing up until January 2008. And in fact, that crossing had black and white wishbone gates which survived right up until April 2008
The derby road Wabco bell is now in the emerald railway yards. I’m pretty sure that the railway road Maryborough had a silver painted Wabco looking on the old street view. The bell could have come from Burns street Maryborough because the crossing was installed around the same time as derby road and railway road. The bell was probably replaced before street view went through there ( I’m not 100% sure on this tho) the Wabco could be from Shepparton but someone said that that one rang very fast. Maybe the speed got changed.
Can you please do a video of both the fairly new hybrid bell with the hybrid bell that's got a damper sound and a video of both hybrids with the tear drop bell
I would love to, except I just sold one of my Hybrids and the other is currently being worked on. Perhaps one day down the track I'll be able to make a video like that though.
I noticed you called the teardrop bell a Westinghouse I get them confused sometimes aswell. I own a 2nd gen Westinghouse hybrid bell, a Safetran mechanical bell, and 2 WRRS bells.
Very nice video. I purchased a westinghouse hybrid bell yesterday. I'm not sure which crossing it came from. The previous owner thinks it came from Ballarat where those interlocked gates are. That crossing like many others now has a e-bell. When it had a hybrid bell it was very unique
Nice Collection. Apparently, the Teardrop bell on Nunn Street in Benalla is actually still there according to McK&H Aust. (who's currently in the area).
Yep it still is. I went there on the train a few weeks back. They've recently repainted the pole the bell's on, and of course showing the due care and diligence of v/line they've painted a bit of the base of the bell white. u can sort of tell in maps
I think the two hybrid bells you got off the LXRA may have actually came from North Road, Ormond. I saw a video of the crossing active and the bells sound the same as the one's you have in this video.
It's funny, because we drove though where the crossing was a few days ago and I noticed a few old Eagle traffic signals (which look to be on borrowed time).
Wow you have a teardrop well I think the bell is broken wow do you have a teardrop bell the rail road I think you dropped onto the rail road the belt was broken
1:59 teardrop bell sounds like westinghouse hybird
Great video . Lucky to have these bells. The Wabco and teardrop especially
I’m legit foaming over your collection. So jealous!
The most rare bell you have is the WABCO bell thanks for filming it!
CHANGCHANGCHANG- said the Westinghouse hybrid bell

I bought a Westinghouse hybrid from them and I live in the US still waiting for it.

Any chance of adding a Safetran mechanical bell to the collection?
Cool video, it's nice to see some more bells in the hands of collectors and not going in the scrap bin.
I like the wabco bell
I really love the sound of those hybrid bells. That teardrop bell is very nice too! Thanks for sharing. Best wishes from the States.
You must've got the Wabco bell from the Railway Street level crossing in Maryborough
Derby Rd in Maryborough used to have a WABCO bell.
It did and so did Railway Street.
Oh, ok
