The military academies aren't really LACs. Neither is Washington and Lee. Replace those with some of the following: Harvey Mudd, Bard, Oberlin, Macalester, Bryn Mawr, Kenyon.
I love these colleges. Wish I had gone to one instead of a giant state university. New England has the greatest concentration of these schools. The military academies are not liberal arts colleges. There are notable omissions on the list --- Reed, Oberlin, Kenyon, Bryn Mawr, Mt. Holyoke, and more. Ranking is a flawed concept. It is so arbitrary and based on reputation alone. Having a great educational experience depends much more on what you put into it than on "where you go." Interesting that there are still so many women's colleges. I don't know of any men's colleges in the country now.
