I honestly love building/kitbashing and playing. I HATE painting them. though I do love to see how others have done so. Of the building, the worst part is definitely cleaning the burs/moldlines. I like trying other parts to make each distinct and seeing which looks better. That being said I have backed all 3 projects and love all my veil touched and can't wait for the next load of them to show up! :D
I'm not a fan at all of how busy they are or that they are pre-assembled, but my only real complaint about this video is I was hoping it would actually be facts about the veil-touched and not just about the miniature line 😅 I imagine the "they are definitely not chaos" is for legal purposes, although them being the most popular faction was a fun fact. But I'd like a 10 facts that's more about lore and design! Cool lore will help make me pay more attention to models I've already seen than hearing why they are pre-assembled or how durable they are. Best of luck with the continued success of the line!
Ravaged Star: Pros: Helps out the Miniwargaming gang. Tough durable minis. Minis work well as proxies. Reasonably priced. Cons: Very small player base. Lore is knock off 40k. Ruleset is meh. Overall its a good attempt, and anything that expands table top war games is cool. I just hope the next expansion pack is more interesting and unique than "Fantasy race, but in space."
Feels like GW wanted this video made as part of the ongoing deal. They very clearly were legally distinct chaos space marines and now the game has come about which was a later idea, its being retconned. Guys go into the war...veil... come back evil and mutated, echo 90% of the roster of chaos space marines, rhinos, predators, obliterators, cultists etc.
Let’s also not mention that the eight-pointed star of chaos originated with Michael Moorcock (and was then misappropriated by a certain wargame company).
@@eastoforionsure, but there are alot of other symbols to give your corrupted, power-armoured supersoldiers. They chose this one for an obvious reason
Lmao you made them look as close as possible withought being the exacted same thing so you could also sell them as proxies. I mean you gave them the chaos star lol. Lmao let's just call it what our is here bud.
even going forward I'd be more than happy to have assembled miniatures, even counting having them pre-assembled in the STL files you are releasing (and yes, yes I did do the full backing for Steel Specters, pirates ftw!)
I love these minis and am anxiously awaiting the second wave and rules for Ravaged Star. I imagine they would also work with One Page Rules. I hope my FLGS will eventually carry the line.
I just saw these minis on playon bought some, and LOVE THEM!!! The fact they are pre-assembled and pre-based is so useful. Cannot wait for the next wave.
Back Packs, Power Armour, Chain Swords and Axes. They may not be "chaos", but are a total rip off of 40k and the one thing that has kept me away from ravaged star. They are called Veil-Touched, there are 100 different concepts and cool ideas you could of come up with.
So looking forward to my second batch, though i have found the standard bearers do loose there hands and banners and need to be re pinned and glued. super fun to paint though. and damn they look cool. Dave, space Elves that have a Protoss vibe, yes, your awesome, please. seriously, i converted wraith to protoss and it almost ended me to the point i took 10th off playing Eldar
Its cool and all that they aren't Space Marines. I'm still going to deck them out in World Eaters colors. Khorne cares not who spills the blood, only that it is spilt. As for the little things like Pre-assembled and textured bases, I could go either way. They each have their ups and downs.
I usually enjoy assembling minis (except monopose GW that you NEED instructions for is pretty annoying), but preassembled is super cool too. I can still kitbash them if i want
This line is fantastic and you can buy with confidence. Regarding the detail, the Veil Touched are packed with trim on trim. Contrast/Speed Paints are your friend here. For assembly, I love the fact I don't have to spend hours putting them together. On durability, I dropped one on a tile floor and it was just fine. Aesthetically, they are gorgeous. I'm excited to get my hands on more.
This is a hard one. On one side I am happy for you to have your own miniature range. I understand and appreciate your ideas for how to make miniature painting and assembling easier. That is a very cool concept, especially for the basing part. But on the other side, as much as I think GW is a trash company sometimes, these really are way too close to "be their own thing". So I guess I am neutral on them. I wish you the best and hope you don't get sued but for me that is a pass.
The number 3 thing about the time wants to be spent on painting and playing and not on assembling. I wholeheartedly disagree with part of that. To me I’d rather my time be spent assembling and then playing and as little time painting as possible. To me painting is boring, tedious, and annoying. so for me I want the most time playing then assembling, then painting
Here's what I don't like pre-assembled: I find it easier to work on unassembled parts if I'm trying to get into parts that might get partially covered up when assembled. The flipside of that is I've had more than a few oopsies in assembly with the glue and messing up the paint with the glue.
Il never purchase a pre built model. I prefer to paint as i go. I feel like i can get more detail in. Once assembled theres alot of little nooks and crannies you cant get to. Ecspecially if they are really detailed a bad or sloppy paint job will show very easy. Lmao and easy for begginers. Lmao no. Im all for pushing your own product. But cmon man your just blowing smoke . With the paint bs obv gwtting as close as you can to copying wh40k chaos withought getting sued so you can sell them as proxies as well. This just looks like a chaos expansion for wh40k

"They're not chaos, they're their own thing"
Weeeeee resemblebutarelegallydistinctfrom the Lollipop Guild! The Lollipop Guild!
Just to mess around with a few people in my play group, I'm planning on using the Veril Touched to proxy a Dark Angels army. :)
"Can I copy your Chaos Warriors?"
"Yeah, but just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied."
Ngl, building minis is my favorite part besides playing a good narrative game. But I'm still interested in these minis. Waiting to see them at my lgs
Dude, you gave them the eight pointed chaos star. Just admit what they are.
cant for legal reasons i bet
Let’s also not mention that the eight-pointed star of chaos originated with Michael Moorcock (and was then misappropriated by a certain wargame company).
very much predates 40k lol
@@eastoforionsure, but there are alot of other symbols to give your corrupted, power-armoured supersoldiers. They chose this one for an obvious reason
"Sure"
😂

They are not chaos! (Shows a dude with a chaos star)
this is totally the Monty Python "Peoples Front of Judea" sketch.

Legally distinct "Kaos Spece Marinys"
*sorry I have a thick accent
The durability is no joke, only army I have that I have zero concerns when I pack them for travel
I just saw these minis on playon bought some, and LOVE THEM!!! The fact they are pre-assembled and pre-based is so useful. Cannot wait for the next wave.
I love assembling miniatures, surprised by those poll results.
100% agree on pre assembled. I hate hate hate, loathe gluing plastic together.
Why? It's so easy.
completely legally distinct for sure, wink, wink

I agree, I'm kinda disappointed with how generic/derivative the armies have been so far. I really hope they start being more original in the future.
As long as that other company keeps putting out mono-pose minis; give me pre-assembled any day.
So looking forward to my second batch, though i have found the standard bearers do loose there hands and banners and need to be re pinned and glued. super fun to paint though. and damn they look cool.

How did I just discovered this gem, is there still time to buy?
Pre assemble is the best! 👍

Ravaged Star = 100/10 if you don't buy this, you'll make Dave a sad boy... YOU DON'T WANT DAVE SAD!!!!!!!

Disagree with preassembled stuff. I really love building things and making them truly my own in the process. And do not like painting.
This
😍 ❤️ omg i need these 🤘🔥

honestly preassembled is the reason i wont buy :/ just part of the hobby i enjoy more
