My husband and I ate this at Tom’s and Melissa’s table as we are good friends of theirs. Delicious! Everything we’ve eaten at their table is wonderfully delicious!!
I’m an old guy, 84, and I love liver and onions the way my mom made it with gravy. I remember it now and wish I had some to enjoy. I know a lot of folks don’t like them but I loved them the way mom made them. Just a nice memory. Thanks Tom for a good memory from my childhood.
My Mama always put a couple tablespoons of WATER in the Ketchup bottle and shook it well to get the rest out of the bottle with no waste! Also, take the lid off the bottle and hit it with your hand. Nice REAL chicken you are using..LOL!!! Subscriber here! Take care and God Bless from LOUISIANA
I was about eight years old and my mom had cooked liver and onions. It was the only thing that she cooked that I didn’t like. She made me stay at the table until I ate it. After a while my mom left the kitchen and my dog Peppy was loyally sitting beside me. I gave him my liver and onions. He and I were both very happy! How I loved that dog, especially then!
Sorry but onions are deadly to dogs. I had to add that on there so people dont think its ok to feed their dogs, or cats for that matter onions. Please dont do this.😮
I just love hearing you guys cutting up with each other and listening to the laughter while you make the videos. Laughter is the best medicine! I have some of that canned "fake" chicken and I am going to try this recipe.
That's funny you said Real Chicken! I've said that for years. If I'm going to fix something that takes chicken in an easy recipe I'll ask if I should use canned chicken or real chicken. This is why your channel is my favorite cooking show!
I used to have a dog who had colitis. He would get sick and not eat for a day or two. My vet told me to give him chicken and rice when he wouldn’t eat, so I kept canned chicken on hand. Eli died over a year ago. Recently I saw several cans of chicken in the cupboard. I never use it in any of my recipes but I looked at the date and saw it needed to be used in the next couple months. I tried this recipe and it was delicious! Messy, but delicious
Since I’ve talked to diabetic when I make that I will take a get the sugar-free ketchup that’s gonna bring the carbs down brown sugar if there’s gonna be fine and the salsa fine now aunt Millie puts out a zero carb bun and that’s what I’ll have with it and that said which will be awesome Great recipe Tom, can’t wait to try this one!
Me too. I have tried recipes using canned chicken and haven't liked any of them so I am not going to waste my money buying more of it when I know "real chicken"😂😂 is gonna be better.
@@cathyprosser1050Some people just don’t like the texture/taste of canned chicken. Home pressure canned chicken thighs is much better than canned chicken breast. I like the idea of using rotisserie chicken to make this BBQ chicken. At Walmart, I can buy the rotisserie chicken already picked from the bone and shredded. Very handy to have on hand for quick dinners.
I had the same experience with my father in the early 60's when he tried to make me eat my liver and onion dinner. You know there were starving children in China then, he would say. My dad loved liver and onions but he would have to cook them cuz mom didn't want to. I would gag just smelling it. Luckily it wasn't too often. Then my ex-husband loved them too but I could only cook them once for him in the early 70's and never again. Melaney from SoCal
Our son-in-law told his kids to eat the liver by telling them it’s chicken, which it was….chicken livers. They tried it then gagged! Never forgot it! Fun memory😂
I also hated liver and onions as a child! I was made to eat it as well and used to cover the liver with catsup to get it down. My younger sister had the plan that she put a big mouthful of liver and then claimed she needed to use the bathroom and then spit it in the toilet. I still hate liver to this day. I do love your utube channel so much and have made many of your recipes. Keep them coming.
My mom was like Tom’s dad, but she never gave in. We had to eat all that she put on our plates. We learned that if we cut it into tiny pieces, we could swallow it with milk like a pill. We also juggled that with holding our noses so we didn’t have to smell it.
Hi from Greeneville Tn. Tom and Melissa! Just binge watching your videos and came across this video! I was rolling listening to Tom talk about Liver and Onions .. my parents loved it and my sister and I hated it , but we had to eat some also . We put mustard or ketchup or BBQ sauce in it to kill the taste ! We would set for a long time also and not eat our dinner too, finally after several years they decided that we were not going to eat it without a confrontation, thank God … we no longer had to eat any ! I can so relate to gagging at it !! Memories not so fond of brought back from this video , but couldn’t help but laugh !! Thank You both !! The chicken sandwich looks amazing !
Just watched your video and went and made the BBQ with "real" chicken. Laughed as I had the same ketchup issue! Gave a quick taste and can't wait for the 30 minutes to pass. Delicious flavor! We always put dill pickle slices on ours or cole slaw on the side!
Oh my goodness this is perfect for my family & I Thanks for sharing 😊 Also I grew up having liver ,gravy & onions, but we only use calf’s liver and dip it a seasoned flour and fry before simmering in the onion gravy, love it with mashed potatoes,Lol with six brothers & two sisters and we all ❤it Can’t wait to make this Tom…thanks u2
I made your Oven Beef Stew last night and me and my husband loved it! It was so delicious and this will definitely be made again and again! This BBQ Chicken sandwich also looks amazing, and I will definitely be making this.
I love that all your recipes are so organized and specific. You do an excellent and thorough presentation. It would literally be impossible not to make a good dish as you walk thoroughly through each step. Thank you!
Thank you for everything that you do. Absolutely love your recipes and the presentation. Everything is very clear and concise. The stories behind dish makes it that much better. I look forward to every video!!
I'm going to try this with pulled pork too. I almost always have it in my freezer in vacuum sealed bags because it's one of the meats I meal prep. I will unscrew and remove the squeeze top from the ketchup before measuring though 😂 Thanks for another quick and easy recipe!
Hey Tom and Melissa, We have been watching your channel for a while now and we just love your recipes. Love the stories you tell . So keep on cooking they are great recipes!

Oh my! You at least came up with a clever solution for getting it down without having to actually bite into it or really taste it too much. And on a positive note, you were well hydrated at the end of the meal. Tom would say that's proof parents can be cruel to their kids. 😉 I really enjoyed your story!

Tom, I love that countertop wonder what that’s made out of because that is way cool! That’s really neat that you got a gas stove down there that’s neat. I’d like to have one but I’ve got an electric right now. Next house I have though you could bet I’ll have gas stove and oven.

Hi Tom and Melissa! I hope you guys are having a wonderful vacation 🌴🏖 Any chance of making cookbooks? I've tried some of your recipes already and all of them were delicious! I love your channel so much 💖
My dad loved liver and onions. But he never forced us kids to eat it. I never tried it and it isn't anything I would fix for myself. I never liked sauerkraut or spinach (mom would make it from a can not fresh). This chicken sandwich looks like something I would like to make. Thanks for sharing.

LOVE Tom for that!
Yes, always notice this. Waste not, want not.
Food is wayyyyy too expensive to waste !

What a great story! I wonder if your mom ever knew what really happened. I can’t say I blame you though. I’m not a fan either.
😂

This sounds soooo good. 😊😊

Oh, that looks so good! And easy enough to pare down the recipe for one person.
Yes because you can buy a smaller can of that chicken then just half tthe rest of the ingredients
It really is! We hope you enjoy this soon.
Eat off of it a couple days then freeze the rest for another time!
