#7 really bothered me. He basically said since Dallas posts provocative pictures, it's okay to lie and manipulate him knowing he's not gay. Like posting pictures and having an onlyfans does not justify invading someone's life and privacy and grooming them into having a romantic relationship with someone they think is someone else. it's absolutely not okay and I'm genuinely concerned for what else the guy who pretended to be Safari does because he believes that being a part of a sex industry is an invitation for being treated poorly.

I used to think this was a show that had no point but to sensationalize these reveals but I actually appreciate that it really seems more like an extra safe way for people to meet people who might otherwise be a sketched out situation. It’s nice!

#4 is one of those moments that bring you back to realize that Nev wasn’t an actor. A lot of current Catfish is scripted, but it didn’t start out that way. He was a victim of catfishing when he was very young, and he takes the real stories very personally.

Back in middle school, my best friend had met this guy on Kik. He started talking to her and the relationship was okay for a time, but I was really worried about her because he was a typical catfish. Never called, never facetimed, and we found the pictures he used on google. They had talked for almost a half a year until we found out he was actually a guy in his late 20's to early 30's. After that, she started to block him, but he'd make new accounts that she also blocked every time. This guy even broke into the house next to her grandparents house even though she never gave him the address! He threatened her that if she didn't meet up with him, he'd find her and hurt her. After that, me and four other friends texted this dude and said that she had gotten into a car accident, passing away on impact. She logged out of that account and deleted the email for it after. Now she's almost 21 and living with her boyfriend.
Kik is basically a bunch of groomers waiting for a new kid to come one the app. I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of the interaction was between someone under 16 and someone over 20. Probably averages around 12 & 45. (Basically, don't use Kik.)
