I would like to know if I need to login on my laptop as administrator to activate the Hyper-V because when I am on my end-user account it doesn't show on the "Turn Microsoft features on or off" . I would appreciate if you could help me with this question.

Wow! i just stumbled up on this chanel and its so great great....i passed my security+ 2 months ago, and this is just such a great channel to practice....thanks so so much Sir. and keep doing all that you do. thank you so much.
Hey I wanted to thank you for the content. I have been using Linux for years and trying to learn this active directory. Information Technology is a hobby of mine.. I have this hanker for tinkering with software. Who knows maybe I will get a job doing this one day...haha... Thanks again
I have oracle installed, and thanks to many of your videos, i have windows server set up, a small AD and domain and even managed to connect a virtual windows 11 machine to the domain. Can confirm that running this on a harddisk sucks :) . I think my HDD is on its way out anyway ( i dont care as its only a game drive and my VM drive), so this might be affecting the speeds, but yes, the whole operation of running 2 VMs of the HDD is very slow.
@@Cobuman Ok. When I watched your video, I noticed that a lot of it was missing from my SCCM. I installed the SCCM client on clients 1 and 2 and the VPN/Remote server. Up till now, SCCM clients have not been installed. My configurations are 305G space and 32G RAM. Thank you.
Unfortunately, Hyper V does not work on Home version for some reason. The other option is VirtuaBox, and you can still install windows server trial version from Microsoft.
Hi Cobuman, love your videos. I hit a roadblock because I installed the lab on my laptop which operates on Windows Home Version and apparently this version doesn't allow you to have Hyper-V. Should I just pay to upgrade to Windows Pro to use the lab or is there another way? Also do I have to delete Oracle VM VirtualBox completely from my laptop in order to use the lab?
I'd say stick with Oracle VM and configure to the best of your knowledge. I did find that Oracle needs to be completely removed if using HyperV, not sure if there is a workaround.
@@Cobuman I started out with my first VM using Oracle VM VirtualBox v.7 successfully without knowing that Hyper-V was enabled. It seems my response will be W11pro-related, but Oracle VM VirtualBox should be version 6.1.28 or higher to take advantage of the Oracle/Microsoft workaround. It is recommended to use only one hypervisor at a time due to the resource conflicts that would be inherent but that may be allowed in the future. BTW I have been new to this so take my reply with your own research.
The lab is good if you need working knowledge right away because it comes with preconfigured servers and clients. This is similar to what you would expect to find in a business environment. For example, with the lab you can join those clients to the domain and use domain logins on existing clients. Same thing for DHCP, DNS and etc... Otherwise, you would need to learn how to setup everything from the scratch. But, if you only need to learn AD for login ids and password reset practice then windows server would be enough.
At 13:22 After cutting the files and when trying to move them to the drive, it's giving me a message saying network discovery and file sharing are turned off. Do I enable it and if so do I choose private network or public network?
This lab requires 160GB free space or something like that. But, you do need to copy the downloaded and unzipped folder to that space, which is another 17GB.
@@Cobuman I tried doing that but it's saying that I don't have the required space and when I tried to install the setup it was saying Cannot validate argument on the parameter "PercentComplete'. Hi. I can see the keyboard settings are mixed up in the servers and clients. The servers work with P"ssw0rd, while the clients work with the corrrect password, P@ssw0rd. I keep getting the "Could not connect to \\cm1\sms..." error on clients. I believe there is a startup script. I don't know what it does. About some CMClient. I am not that advanced. There is no sms share on cm1 as far as I can see. There are other sm*** folders there however in the root.
You can try to install Server OS and a single client only. It does require setup. I have a preconfigured Server VM that you can import into HyperV. Here is the link: drive.google.com/file/d/1LR4r7uarqUQ5XeP1ijNSogEwpfEggbx6/view?usp=share_link
