We may hate YG, but i'm actually thankful that YGE offered a contract w/ artists who debuted in the past industry like Sechskies, Psy and Epik High. The 3 of them had bad experiences with either their career or prev companies but YGE still believed in them. YGE helped them to blossom their career more. And even tho Psy and Epik High were no longer in YG, as a BB21 baby~ i'm thankful to YG cuz i got to know their music.

Fun fact:
Eun Jiwon (G1), is a member of The Movement Crew which was one of the first hiphop crews in Korea. Founded by Tiger JK with members such as Drunken Tiger, Epik High, Dynamic Duo, YDG, Yoon Mi-Rae, Dok2, and Buga Kingz.
They essentially popularized hiphop in South Korea early on in the underground scene.
Sechskies was one of the hottest 1st gen Boygroup back then.. and they were head2head to get Daesang (Main Prize SOTY) in 1998 for their song Couple against H.O.T. Eventually, both got Daesang that year ❤
I think you might be the only UA-camr outside of Korea to ever react to Sechskies. They are my OG favourites and their last concert in Seoul was my first kpop concert - I was actually amazed at how good they are live. They did a remaster of a bunch of their old songs when they went under YG to slightly "modernise" them so that might be an album to check out. They also have a hilarious random place dance on weekly idol in case you wanted to check out their choreo
I’m glad you enjoyed and connected with SECHSKIES! As many others have said the footage of them in concert was really their last performance. They were thanking and saying sorry to the fans about the disbandment. It was mostly the company/managements fault, but the guys just didn’t deserve to go through what they did.. you think mistreatment is bad today.. back in the day was even worst. But yeah they found each other again through a variety show Infinite Challenge, where they were reuniting disbanded groups. The 6th member Jiyong went on to have a normal life and was hesitant to join them. But he showed up and sang the last song with the other 5. He is always welcomed to come back to group and he will always be part of SECHSKIES. Jiyong himself still has good memories and keep in touch with them, but he’s focused on family right now. The other member Sunghoon that was the main vocalist and visual left due to some issues that came up. I’m not really going to comment on it because I don’t know what is 100% or what was fabricated. But now we have 4 active SECHSKIES.
Suwon the maknae is now a married man which is very cute and I love that for him.
Other than that, they are not only amazing artists.. they are variety show gold!! They are hilarious af!
I hope YGE gives them another comeback!! It’s been since 2020! We need a SECHSKIES comeback ASAP!! 🙏🙏🙏

I stanned Sechskies in 2016. Their song "couple" made me Stan them but i know Eun Jiwon, their leader way before i know about the group. I truly loved their songs even though it was a bit old school for me (😅). I have a lot of mixed feelings when i was listening to their song, three words because it depicted the words they want to say for their fans. Then when they released All for you under YG, i literally cried since i missed them so much
37:41 I think the beginning was when they announced they were disbanding/retiring. In 2016, there was a variety show called Infinite Challenge where they brought disbanded groups together to reunite and perform again. They did it with HOT too. If I remember it right, the day of the reunion concert, the former/retired member businessman Jiyong came and they sang the last song together. After that they came together and signed with YGE as 5.

Couple is their song from 1998 and it was a hit! everyone knows it 🥰
and on 2016 when they came back, they made this remake of couple with new arrangements.

I remember ugly crying watching their Infinite Challenge episodes. They are at their peak when they disbanded and they just promoted for a short period of time so I am glad Infinite Challenge happened and they decided to come back. Just wishing YG would remember Sechskies is still signed to them and give them comeback from time to time. 😆

Thank you so much for reacting to Sechskies! They are one of my favorite groups. My first intro to them was in Reply 1997, a drama. It was set around late 90s to early 2000s Korea and the protagonist was a huge fan of H.O.T. while her bestfriend was a Sechskies fan. Jiwon also acted in that it was hilarious lol. If you have spare time to watch a good drama I highly recommend it. Then I accidentally came across the Infinite challenge episode where they gathered disbanded groups, and that was when I absolutely fell in love with them :) They are all crackheads and their variety skills are the best! For their older songs my favorite is The Way This Guy Lives, the choreo is fun and the lyrics are so funny, best breakup song ever lmao. Couple is actually an older song, they just remade an MV for it because it's their most iconic song. The yellow raincoats are an iconic representation of 1st gen fandom culture, Sechskies was yellow while H.O.T. was white. :-)
Even my father loves their song Couple. It also has a very cute choreo. Almost every rookies of 2.5 gen made a cover of this song

They are actually the reason I got into K-pop...... after so many years, and their fans are still waiting for them. Sechskies never see this coming, and they cry so hard when they finally see their fans on stage. It's just too sweet. I love them.

If you want to hear more, I think you might love their album. Especially th e re-made album, they did a such good job on re-make those 90s songs. You will be amazed.
Sechskies is supposed to mean six crystals in German, but I don't think it actually translates correctly, pronounced with the fancy z-j sound, zecks-keys or romanized-ish from korean, jek-su-ki-su.
To me, School song seems to be a "if you're korean, going to school in the 90s you can relate" kind of song, where understanding the language and situation is important.
I also got Nelly from the ohs, said it out loud as soon as you mentioned it😂
If you have a chance, I hope you can talk about "SHINHWA" in this series
'SHINHWA' is the oldest idol group that hasn't broken up in Korea and is still active
It's one of the groups that many Korean boy groups choose as wannabe,
So many new idols used to cover their dances(EXO,BTS,BTOB,GOT7,ASTRO,GFRIEND,etc..)
Also, the group started its own entertainment program with the idol title for the first time in Korea, and many idol programs were inspired by these show
They are celebrating their 25th anniversary this year
Since they are a dance group, I recommend the live version rather than the music video
1st Kpop song that I listened to is Sechskies's Couple in 2000 (and still have this song in my phone and in Spotify playlist)~ hahahaha 23years listening to Kpop from 90's songs till the most recent ones~ if in 1st gen, I would say I love Sechkies & G.O.D..
But since 2nd gen onwards, my forever fav and no.1 super duper ultimate love is only SHINee~ I'm a shawol since 2008~ but I would say I love lots of older generations Idols songs, maybe I love that kind of music colors and it suits more with me personally~ anyway thank you so much for discovering and do reaction to Sechskies~
I still remember how sad I am when I discovered them in 2000 and they already disband, and when they reunite again after like 16 years, I cried like a baby, even if I rewatch those episodes, I will still be in tears~ watching that episodes of infinite challenge, and when all members are there, together with Yellkies (and some even bring their child to the special Sechskies stage performance)

Sechskies!!!💛i always feel nostalgic whenever i listen to their songs and now I miss them even more 🤧 Thankyou for this reaction and finally you have a taste of 1st gen 😄 I laughed quite a lot in the school song i totally get your facial expressions 😂 it’s entertaining to see how eccentric the trends were at that time. They debuted and disbanded at their peak, the old footage from their concert in the Three Words MV was their last show right after announcing the D-word. I came to know of Sechskies because I watch the korean variety show “Infinity Challenge” and they were featured there. Sechskies’ member Lee Jaijin is actually the brother-in-law of YGE’s founder Yang Hyunsuk and because of the successful, moving and heartwarming reunion in infinity challenge, and the loyalty of their fans that YG was inspired to sign with them and give them a comeback. Sorry this became an essay 😂
I got to know Sechskies thnx to YG, and I don't regret it one bit. Ngl, some of their old sound being so 90's and early 00's still throws me off, so I'm more used to the re-issues YG did for their most popular songs, but I still enjoy some of the oldies cuz it give me "demo" vibes n.ñ. YG made 2 re-edit albums, and I feel they did a lot of cleaning, maybe toned down and managed to make 'em sound "current", which I actually apreciate a lot cuz it made it so much easier for new fans to come and get to know them. My favorite of these updates is 'Heartbreak' -just saying. With this said, I also totally love the "new" sound they got when in YG, since it shows how they're now in their 40's and can be/must be, more mature. I feel they aged so well, not only visually speaking, but musically. 'Another Light' was an album I got on repeat when it came out. I wish YG did pay more attention to them, we've been out of Sechskies music for so long :')

You are the first reactor (that I know) that react to them without a prejudge. I feel like we are so used to the new things that we forget the old sound that kpop has.
Honestly I only know the songs that you put in this video (and some of Jiwon solo stuff) in terms of music, I have watched them acting and Jiwon is in so many variety shows so I know him more because of that.
It’s good to go back in time and enjoy old music, it has a different vibe and it just feels right. I’m a big fan of vocals so this was right of my alley, anyways thank you for the reaction and your hard work! 💚🌻

Awww SECHKIES!!!! I got into kpop at a time when gen 2 had just started debuting but gen 1 idols were still super popular and on a lot of variety shows and I freaking love gen 1 artists bc they were so funny on variety!!! Love these throwbacks!
38:09 yess it was their last performance before disbanding. they were so popular & successful back then thats why in the clips you can see the fans bawl their eyes out cuz the disbandment was so sudden (its the company fault tho)

I first saw them in Infinite Challenge where they united and performed in front of their fans, not knowing if there was a single person coming or not. Despite the limited time offer, Yellowkies were able to fill the hall and cheer for their idols. SECHSKIES with their story gives me hope that kne day my favorite groups (disbanded or on hiatus) can make a comeback.

The way I screamed when I saw it was Sechskies!!!!! 💛💛💛💛💛💛💛 I laughed my ass off when School Song started, lol that is a lot to take. Recommendation: when they joined YG, they released a remastered album with their biggest hits, but modernized (that's where the Couple version that you reacted to comes from, Road Fighter remastered is also there), it's called Re:Album (2016). I cannot overstate how immaculate that album is, check it out on your own or on camera, whatever works for you, I'm sure you gonna love it. I'm loving this Label View series and that you started with my favourite label YGE. I'm an ancient VIP and I'm writing in, just in case you are planning to include Bigbang in your label view and if you haven't already filmed the episode and/or picked the songs out, my suggestions for some songs to include but no pressure if you have everything sorted out or filmed already. With BB we VIPs much prefer the live versions over the MVs so I'm including most lives here: Lies (MV, made them popular in 2007), Haru Haru (MV from 2008, acoustic live version from any tour, try Japan Dome Tour X), Candle/Fools Only Tears (Love & Hope Tour 2011, the vocal line only), Tell Me Goodbye (Japan Dome Tour X), Café (MADE Tour), Sober (MADE Tour), Garagara-go! + Top of the World + Number 1 (Japan Dome Tour X), Bang Bang Bang (MV)... and so many more but these are some of my personal favourites.

Also a little fun fact, their lightsticks are balloon shaped because during their time when there was still no lightsticks, fans used balloons of the group's official color to show their support. So when they signed to YG, they designed the lightsticks as an ode to that memory. You can also see another reference to the yellow balloons during their recent concert clip in the Three Words MV

Omg when you post the story on instagram i'm guessing sechskies, and i'm right. I was thinking it must be either big bang or sechskies, but the picture you post just scream sechskies to me. Oh and fyi they used to be a rival group of h.o.t, so yeah h.o.t is also a 1st gen group
the process of making their most recent song 'don't look back' from 2021 was so funny, try to watch the series is if you can. eun ji won (angry dude in the first two videos) was duped into signing an employment contract with na pd (of channel full moon/game caterers), who's producing jinny's kitchen right now, that's valid up to 50 years after his death in a show. one thing led to another and they got themselves a song because of some stupid bet. then na pd got so extra. he's best friends with one of the most popular kdrama producers in korea and was able to get him to direct the mv and used the equipment and set of the drama hospital playlist for free. they only performed it live once and they managed to still top the music charts. they're still a force to be reckoned with if and when they do decide to make a comeback.

Hope you're reacting to them more both Sechskies and Winner. They're THAT good in S.Korea, but not many international kpopers really know them well (especially the new kpopers)

Infinity challenge was a great show. They brought sechskies back. Thanks to that show they came back and watching it was so emotional. This show gave hope about ss501, Mblaq and B.A.P reunion. I want these groups to make their comebacks. Ss501 tried actually and I'm sure B.A.P will do it after all of their members come back from military. Mblaq... idk.
