Lester, when you replace your "package box", get either a STEEL one, or have a sturdy wooden one built, and make it twice as big/heavy. More packages can be put into a larger "package" box. Brandon Eddy from Eddy Family Farm has a large metal box with a lock on it. He gave the combination to his regular delivery people, so they could put packages in & re-lock the box. This keeps the packages from getting wet or stolen, too. Just a suggestion~

My brother was a rural mailman too. He said you aren’t supposed to, but he put his post in concrete. Didn’t stop them. They put assuming a chain around it and pulled the whole thing out..🤷♀️🤦♀️
My late Sister had to put her mailbox in a barred cage and cement the post in the ground to keep it upright and serviceable! Presumably kids with bats and bottles would not leave it alone. Such a shame!

It's a n offence to use a mobile, in a vehicle even stationary with the engine running,although modern cars the phone ringsthrough the car,and as you don't touch it its not illegal,there has been a case where a lorry driver had been texting and didn't notice the traffic had stopped he ploughed right through a car with a family killed them all instantly caused injury to people in front,hardly any damage to his lorry and not a scratch on him, it shouldn't make a difference but it was a foreign driver who had probably gone over the permitted hours. Our UK drivers have tachographs in the vehicle it records its stop starts speed and rest breaks not allowed to go over the the limit, The USA is so big I doubt you get lorries coming from Europe I would expe t freight would come on ships to be distributed by US drivers

Our neighbor diagonally across from us gave up and got a post office box because their mailbox was destroyed so many times. Here in South Africa people also drive with their cellphones. I ride a scooter and most of the time people can't drive in front of me because they are on their phones. That makes me so angry.

Maybe look into getting reflectors that you can stick in the ground. Install them along the road.

I just bought a new Nissan Murano and it has technology that tracks your eye movement while you are driving. If you take your eyes off the road for more than 3 seconds to look around, fiddle with the radio, look at your phone, etc, alarms go off. It gets your attention fast!! It also sounds to wake you if your eyes close. Every car needs this!!

When my husband and I lived in upstate NY, Saratoga Springs area, we had young people who would drive around all the country roads and destroy all the mailboxes. Ours was damaged on two occasions where we had to buy a new mailbox each time. We got once incident on the outdoor camera, but it was too grainy, but the police could see the individual get out of the car and beat the mailbox till it was completely smashed and the post broke in two. These are all criminals who have no sense of responsibility, they are bored and want to mess with other peoples belongings. I hope they don't get too brazen and try to hurt your animals.

This past Thursday, my husband and I were traveling on a split 4 lane in Iowa. We were being passed on the left by a Semitruck as we came to an on-ramp. Another semitruck was merging from the right. The truck on our right did not see use and we were almost crushed between the 2 trucks. The trucked on our right and merging from the on-ramp was on his phone. My husband had to do some frantic emergency driving to save us. If you disable all phones while in a moving vehicle, truckers couldn't function in a timely manner. 💖
The quality of parents has diminished drastically globally... I reckon speed bumps are in order everywhere there are homes....cos the mentality of most of the young now is really really low.

The way the mud was slung on the ground toward the driveway makes me think that the vehicle came from the direction of mailbox then passed over your driveway.

Can you install speed bumps on that road? Call your Township (or borough, whatever you call them in Texas), ask how you go about getting speed bumps. Take pics of your mailbox and tire marks in the road.
I know your feelings exactly. Using my entrance to my property to turn around, my mailbox was backed into and shoved over. Days later, someone beat the box and totally destroyed it before I could have it put back upright. Very frustrating.
In our state (NY) it is against the law to text or talk on the phone while driving and yet more people are killed by "distracted driving" than drunk driving. And are being held accountable. EVEN young teenagers are getting heavy prison sentences. Still.... people think it won't happen to "me".😥

Lester, you have every right to be pissed. We try so hard to protect our peace and tranquility, and not to mention our property!! When the ignorance and selfishness of others starts to trickle into our lives, it most certainly is very upsetting. We have laws here in Canada about cell phone use while driving gets you in big time trouble if caught. Hope you can find out from your cameras exactly what type of vehicle it was or people that took after the holding box. HAGN and thanks for sharing.
We just experienced an accident from a distracted driver. Poor 17yr old on his phone hit our parked car. Still after a month dealing with that

The way the mud was slung on the ground toward the driveway makes me think that the vehicle came from the direction of mailbox then passed over your driveway.

Oh I'm so sorry your beautiful mailbox is a mess. I really liked the look of. I hope it don't happen again after the mailbox is fixed. People need to show it down. I think the census is more accidents are caused because people are texting or on there phones. Most states have big fines if caught using your phone while driving. 😊

Lester, that package box by the front gate was broken a couple of weeks ago. You included it in a video, and the lid broke off in your hand at that time. You said you were going to replace it.
Can you install speed bumps on that road? Call your Township (or borough, whatever you call them in Texas), ask how you go about getting speed bumps. Take pics of your mailbox and tire marks in the road.

I know your feelings exactly. Using my entrance to my property to turn around, my mailbox was backed into and shoved over. Days later, someone beat the box and totally destroyed it before I could have it put back upright. Very frustrating.

In our state (NY) it is against the law to text or talk on the phone while driving and yet more people are killed by "distracted driving" than drunk driving. And are being held accountable. EVEN young teenagers are getting heavy prison sentences. Still.... people think it won't happen to "me".😥
