Granny's Garden isn't Growing and We're Trying to Fix it!

- Granny's garden isn't doing no good at all. Corie and I worked in it earlier this week, trying our best to give it a good recharge so that things will begin to grow and produce. Our family fully embraces the tradition of growing food that is part and parcel of the Appalachian culture.

Love the great content. Hope the gardens grow and become super bountiful. Ticks can be such a pain, I know 2 people with Lymes disease, which really emphasizes the reason for prevention and good tick checks at the end of being outdoors.
We have had the little baby ticks so badly here in Sebastian county Arkansas. I will look down and feel something crawling while I am outside working in the yard and there is one of those tiny little things. Gives me the heeby geebies!!!
My two favorite outshine popsicles are grape and pomegranate.

I recall when I was a little kid my parents used to love Sussex IceCream. My favorite flavour was Pistatio and when that wasn't available I had Lemon Ice cream with big chunks of lemon pudding mixed in. So good gals so good.

When our twins were younger they worked in the same drugstore. One was a pharmacy tech and the other was at the cash register in the front of the store. People would buy something from the one and then go back to the pharmacy for a prescription..they would often say " how did you get back here so fast?!".😊

I love seeing all the green! Not much here in Tucson. Mary's home from the hospital, Dr. said she would have died from the cat bite if she hadn't come in.The hand is still big and she can't use it. Thanks for Prayers. God Bless. Jean 💗

You might want to check the mineral content of Granny's soil before adding any kind of fertilizer; if there's a depletion of one (or more) and/or an overabundance of an/others, you might make is worse by adding more of what you don't want.
Nice job helping Granny. Her clothesline yarn bean poles were genius!! Is there anything Granny can't do with yarn! Your garden is gorgeous ❤❤
Get some Tree Tea shampoo and bath with it. For ticks.
I hope Granny’s garden gets better. We had this when I was a kid and my kids too.

From what they are finding out about sugar substitutes, I almost think real sugar is better for you. I like the outshine frozen treats, too. My granddaughters always expect them to be in the freezer when they visit. Lol
I pulled weeds and grass and threw rocks out of my garden today. I have come to a conclusion. If anybody comes to my house and starts a rock fight I'll retreat to my garden. I have enough ammunition for a forty year siege

My grandmother always taught me to air the soil. Till round plants with hoe gently. It's funny how we do as those elders we watched did. I didn't pay particular attention but gosh, I surely do reflect back and reenact it all. I retained tons without even trying. Thank God for grandparents
The peppers I started from seed or the ones I got at lowes are not doing well at all.
The one big pepper plant I over winter ed from 2022 has already produced peppers tho.
Wonder if Epsom salts would help the weaklin?

Outshine Coconut is decadent! They are a dessert for me, my favorite is Mango with Tajin. Tajin is awesome on any fruit especially watermelon too. You have rain, we have yet another week and half of 100 degree and above for Arizona. Thank goodness, not too much humidity here unless it is going to rain. We are 2 weeks into " Monsoon Season " here with no rain. Praying daily for all of the wildfires we have had so far though. Love the popcicle breaks!

I've had so many tick bites these past few years, always allergic reaction. I need to ask my Doctor for the blood test , my fatigue is getting worse😢Praying u get the right treatment 🙏
If you plant marigold's they help to keep bugs away. just a suggestion. Marigolds are known to repel bugs, French marigold works best against bugs1Note: Marigolds have a scent that will keep pests like mosquitoes, nematodes like cabbage worms, and other pests away2. Plant marigolds to attract beneficial insects that attack and kill aphids. Ladybugs are especially fond of aphids. Best wishes!!

The facts that you're beginning to have deer visiting your garden and you're seeing more ticks may be related. Please be very careful about checking yourself and one another for ticks. Black-legged ticks that cause Lyme disease range in size from the size of a poppy seed for babies to the size of a sesame seed for adults, so you have to check carefully.
Chronic Lyme disease can be a devastating disease. My stepdaughter had it and it caused terribly painful arthritis in all her joints. She couldn't even knit because it hurt too much to holding the knitting.

Please tell Corie I know she said she feels the toothpaste might be helping but it is extremely dangerous to ingest even small amounts of essential oils. No matter what doterra may say, essential oils are never ok for consumption and can be actively dangerous. Of course, I understand she's not eating the toothpaste, but essential oils shouldn't ever be used without a carrier and glycerin/water are not proper for that purpose. My friend is a holistic healer and this is what she says: "essential oils are not safe to ingest in any way, shape, or form. They are for atmospheric diffusing or for topical application with the correct dilution methods via the use of a carrier oil. Water cannot dilute an essential oil. It’s basic chemistry.
Long answer: food extracts and tinctures are not the same thing as essential oils, and no, it doesn’t matter if they’re organic or not. “Therapeutic grade” and “food grade” are non regulated terms used by essential oil companies to sell more products, and are not recognized by health governing bodies, including reputable aromatherapy and holistic schools."

I hope you get them soon 😀 We don't usually get very many ticks so this year is weird. But I know folks who suffer from lyme so it is a worry.

Deer ticks are those teeny ones and are the ones that are responsible for Lyme disease. Hope none bite you! There are natural essential oils you can wear when outdoors that help repel them.
Hope your gardens do well. You all sure work hard enough on them!

We live in Wilkes County in western NC and my husband works outside and has had several ticks stuck on him this summer. It's worse than we've seen in years past. They don't really bother me. We seem to be opposite... mosquitoes love me, him not so much.

Enjoyed your gardening video today. I don’t have much of a garden but I do grow basil every year so I can make pesto. I planted my basil this year mid May and it hasn’t grown much at all. I thought maybe rabbits were eating it but Google said it was probably snails. I inspected the leaves and sure enough I found a snail. I was so mad. I don’t know why the snails got to it this year. I just pulled them up. Also, the Outshine sugar free popsicles are good
