I was rejoicing when he finally stood up to her. It sucked when he started to apologize after he called her out but it does show what kind of person he is. He’s kind & he will always love Miranda.

What gets me about the Samantha explanation is how unnecessary it was. You could have easily explained her absence without shitting on her whole character. The iCarly reboot did it exceptionally well with Jennette McCurdy. Sam joined a biker gang and while they missed her, they were happy she was living her dream! See, fits her character and shows how strong they are as friends. The whole thing with Samantha reeks of the feud between Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker mixed with bitterness that Kim refused to do the show.
Explaining without shitting on her character wouldn't have satisfied Sarah Jessica Parker's ego.

The whole Sam situation made me cringe. She was too much of a good friend to just get upset over a business deal and dump them. They could have said she went to travel the world and see new things or something of that nature.

CEO and majority shareholder of a public relations corporation, with international clients, shows power and a very important reason for moving, in the second film they leave Samantha's job future very scattered and they could start from there but like what happened With all the series since 2010, there is no team that continues.
What's predictable and funny is how Kim Cattral just made a 1 minute appearance for the last episode of season 2 🤣🙄. I had a feeling that would be all she'd do , they were not even in the same room.
Not listed here: Lily's terrible song about how much it sucks to have rich parents. The Samantha phone call. Carrie sneaking into Lisette's apartment. Carrie painting in high heels. Anthony's "poignant" season 2 "arc" about learning to bottom. All of Lisa and Herb's comical screw-ups. Honestly, it might just be faster to count the noncringe moments.

Did your husband rape people in real life because Chris Noth did.. They shouldn't have even allowed him to be in any scenes at all and should have spoke of him dying in the show and that is all instead of allowing him on any set with women. Sarah should be ashamed for not refusing to do these scenes with him.

Should had just said the truth. I cheated with the love of my life, Big my now dead husband, that I married after Aidan and I broke up. Big would want me to move on. I loved Aidan too (even tho he was always my 2nd choice). So ''just like that'' we're back together, 😂. No good way to answer that but her answer was the worst.

Agreed! It’s a insult to how great the original show was. And to be honest I don’t think that the original Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte would like the reboot version of their characters. And we know that SAMANTHA made the best choice of not being involved in the reboot. There is no way it was going to be good. The original was a lot to live up to.

Carrie stalking Natasha (Big's ex that he cheated on with Carrie) should've been on the list and in the top 5 really. the scene that follows is one of the BEST in the series, but before that, i was cringing so much at a 50+ y.o. being that immature. Carrie, get a life.

Regarding Samantha’s scene. Good friends would have discussed that Samantha actually called Carrie. She never mentioned it again. Aiden is gone for 5 years and Carrie is good with it? Most people would break up so they both could continue with their lives. Everyone is too rich which makes their problems annoying and charlotte’s kids are bratty and spoiled

Agreed. It felt forced like they were literally looking at a list of what they felt should be included in the "woke" list and just jammed it in there randomly without thought. It was terrible. Nothing felt natural and the relationships didn't feel genuine anymore. And Che.....was absolutely a trainwreck of a character. Hated every moment of her scenes. It was so fake and embarrassing . None of the old magic was there between the friends.

I know the consensus is that the character of Che is the worst (I wholeheartedly agree!), but their reaction when Miranda freaked out about her son calling her crying after his girlfriend dumped him was extremely insensitive.
I know there are other moments, but this is all I can think of for now.
The blithering idiot thing is A big thing. Fierce lawyer Miranda becomes a professional and personal trainwreck, capable Art Director Charlotte becomes a neurotic housewife, Carrie becomes a directionless widow ...all terrible.

Honestly, a lot of the sex scenes made me cringe or even FF (watching BIG! what?). Odd, becuz typically I have zero problem and even enjoy a story-driven, real, hot scene involving seggs or intimacy. Idk what it was. I think some were just awkward while others w/ the core characters were like.. having to watch your friends or parents get it on. Too much!
I actually loved the Charlotte scene. I read so many comments from fellow Gen X women who had no clue what flash periods were, so we're all pretty grateful to know now before we hit menopause & think we're "all done", lol. Miranda's line ("Suppressed it immediately!"🤣) was vintage Miranda, too!😂
The writers Hail Mary pass to save Che’s character by saving a box of kittens 😂…and Carrie suddenly showing a maternal side for a kitten.
All the fashion, especially in season 1. Charlotte’s puffy-sleeved dressed and Carrie’s hats in particular.
Miranda was my favorite character before this show began. The writers and Che ruined her completely. It's not hard to understand why there are so many spots on this list about Miranda and Che. If I want to watch a show about older women leading sex positive lives... I'll just watch Golden Girls.

Publicist...not publisher. The publisher is the one who gets her books printed and on store shelves. The publicist handles her publicity and the marketing, gets her booked on talk shows and podcasts, arranges parties for the release and invites other famous people to those parties to get critics and the press to show up and generate buzz about the book by writing about it and reviewing it.

I completely agree with the trying to replace Samantha comment. They’re using Seema as a replacement and it’s so infuriating. I think if it wasn’t so obvious it would be better, but they try to make her too similar instead of her own new character. Also, Samantha was always such a loyal fan she would never just unfriend them over a business thing. That felt like it wasn’t any thought placed into it. Che is just annoying and Miranda’s character has become so cringe. I’ve always loved Sex in the city but the AJLT makes me wonder what happened to the characters I love. There seems to not be any upward growth in them.
I'd say sexualizing minor teen boys was way more than cringe, it was borderline illegal and disgusting. If it had been fathers doing that to teen girls, the scene would never have been shot.

I knew I wasn’t going to watch AJLT when Samantha wasn't going to be part of it, and looking at this list I'm SOOOOO glad I didn't. I can't stand disrespectful kids so between Brady and Lily I wouldn't have made it through an episode. And the overt performative diversity box ticking seemed exhausting. What a wasteful effort from such an iconic franchise.

Why did the writers feel the need to include EVERY different type of character ie. Gay, bisexual, nonbinary, handicapped, etc. my goodness it was on overload and not realistic.
Even as a lesbian I can say it was waaaay too much, but mostly because of the lazy way it was written and unfolded. It reminded me of the last paper I’d write end semester if was getting a D+ in the class-trying to shove all the info I was supposed to have learned so far in one shot. @@Mukanimou yea I’m thinking of watching sitc again as a woman in my late 20s because I watched it as a teenager. But I believe Carrie saw big as the one and the love of her life like you said, the man she obsessed over. However once big died, the secrets/doubts were revealed and her judgement was no longer clouded she realized who she should’ve chosen in the beginning. Aiden has always been a much better man for Carrie than big, she always loved big more than he loved her. But aiden always loved Carrie more.
What erked me is when Che started making cameo videos while Miranda was trying to sleep because she had to get up at like 5am …. Like who does that? Also if I paid for a cameo video wouldn’t it be weird to get a video of the person laying in bed?

I don't know why they bothered bringing Aiden back , it's like they wanted to just replace Big with him ....but then at the end of season 2 they change his plot again 🙄. Also with how badly Carrie treated him in the past ,I doubt Aiden would want anything to do with her 🤷♀️.

I disagree that they mishandled the Rock storyline. Unlike you I wasn’t left aghast by Anthony’s reaction to Charlotte’s revelation about Rock. I felt it was a genuine expression of compassion and common sense. He basically presented what experts who haven’t taken the extreme views of some call “watchful waiting”. What would you have preferred? That he throw Roc a party?

Had my doctor been forced to follow this affirmation therapy he would have had to affirm that I was fat! It’s just as absurd in my opinion that we need to automatically affirm kids gender dysmorphia which, in reality, could very well be a temporary state over confusion which, if treated with compassionate watchful waiting, will likely emerge to be gay. And what exactly is wrong with that that so many want to “treat” with affirmation therapy/puberty blockers/ surgery?

But I refuse to believe Charlotte would mix up 2 different women just because they're both black 🤦♀️, but that whole race storyline with Charlotte & Miranda in season 1 was ridiculous. Miranda behaved like a incompetent fool around Naya 🙄. Reminded me of that other over the top TV show ' college girls se x lives or something ', where a white person can't function without saying something offensive towards a black person or again mixing 2 different black people's names up . The average normal person does not behave this way 🤷♀️.

Well, I showed my daughter. It isn’t as unrealistic as you might think. There’s nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed of in showing young women. My mom made me keep my tampons in my room so my brothers didn’t have to see the box. Times are different.
The actor who plays Che Diaz I've always liked...in other roles. This role was and continues to be awful. Being 60 this year I can say, yes we talk about age. We talked about it in our teens wanting to be older, in our 30's trying to back up into our 20's, in our 40's finding out that aging isn't so bad and in our 50's when our first classmate from high school dies from illness. Not a Boomer thing, a life thing.

When Carrie didn't call 911, ya it sucked but he had been there for a while and was probably not going to make it if she had called so she spent his last moments holding him and making sure he knew he was loved and not alone. I've been with a few family members in their last moments and if you can't help them then just being for them is more important. 911 would have taken a few mins to get there and she would have wasted the last 2/3 mins speaking to the operator rather than holding him in his final moments. ya i wanted her to help him and for him to survive but just like in real life people don't always get happily ever after and the storyline would have been a bit boring if nothing changed for the main characters.
Everyone in the show always talks about "poor" Carrie but in my opinion she kinda sucks 😕 going after John's ex wife AGAIN to get closure was totally selfish and Charlotte is wayyyyyy to passive aggressive with her kids she's a welcome mat to them
When it comes to this show, it's best to take the "multiverse" approach. Just like The Carrie Diaries, AJLT doesn't exist within the same universe as SATC.
The Carrie Diaries was actually pretty nice, I was sad it got cancelled
@@sams3015 It wasn't a bad show at all, and I did watch all of it. It's just that it was wildly inconsistent in relation to SATC. Carrie's dad left when she was young, and she didn't have a sister. Plus she didn't meet Samantha first, on SATC so it was all thrown off. So I think of it as existing in its own universe.

Did anyone else notice that during season 1 Miranda's hair was grey and then suddenly in one episode in season 2 it's red again? And that was after the episode where they all talked about how it was okay to go grey. I don't know why I continued to watch this show. I think I'm going back to just watching the very authentic, funny Golden Girls from now on.
She went back to dyed red (and honestly an AWFUL shade of dyed red) in the last episode of season 1. She comes out and stands next to her son and they are both headed to the airport, Brady to Europe and Miranda to LA with Che. Brandy comments on her hair by saying, "so you're copying my look now?" and Miranda replies, "I had it first."

This whole season has been cringe. The way Charlotte is acting is so freaking weird, Carrie hasn’t grown at all and Miranda - I have no clue about. But this whole series is just sad with so much gratuitous sex and sophomoric story lines. I mean I guess they are trying to show that people in their 50s still have sex and are still desirable, but it sure doesn’t play that way.
And Just Like That really brought us all together... with our universal hatred of the charicature Che and basically all of the dialogue 😬

All the actresses/actors are amazingly talented. But to me, a die-hard SATC fan, all these two season of AJLT has succeeded in doing only one thing: eliminating any lingering fantasy/hope that SATC can continue to evolve and grow with its audience. Nope. They have destroyed all my fav characters (including Carrie, whom some people find annoying). By now I have already mentally separated these two universe so as to keep my fondness of them, locked up safe in my past memory along with SATC. I'll still watch the new series but they are an entirely new (and not really well done) show featuring actresses/actors I can recognize on the screen, and sadly, they are not Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha.
I can't get passed Miranda's story line. It just does not fit the character development at all! You compare both women from one series to this and it just doesn't make sense at all. It's forcing a plot for representational reasons. The whole "you don't like mayo? That should have clued us in" scene was so.... cringe to push a faulty narrative.
As devastating as bigs death was she could have called 911 and done CPR. They should have had her take a class

I love sex and the city like I love air. I stood in line to buy it at Tower Records at midnight the year it first came out on VHS. Yeah. That was my teenage thrill.
But I haven’t watched this reboot yet. I’ve watched everything about it on MissMojo and The Take, and honestly… it looks like it might be the worst show they could possibly have done. Reaching, trying too hard, and who is it supposed to be appealing to? Not the fans of the first show, that’s for sure.

I’m an older gay man and Anthony annoys me. As mentioned, the women treat him like a sub-friend in middle school. Also, how does an openly gay 55 year old man not know anything about receptive gay sex? He was married to a bottom for like 20 years. He was sexually active with receptive partners before. Even a top will learn a few things about bottoming simply by observation, communication and osmosis. Anthony being scared to bottom for his Italian boyfriend and then going to his straight female friend for advice at his age really bugged me. It felt like a heterosexual joke about gay sex.
The explanation of Samantha's absence was the worst. They really said she stopped being friends cause Carrie fired her as her publicist. That totally goes against everything from SATC as Samantha said she would PR her book release party for lunch. What a joke.
Just one thing… Garson was in charge of his storyline. He chose to have his character written off the way Stanford was… he wanted Stanford alive and well and didn’t want his character to die.
I always imagined the first episode of season one would start with “and just like that… the cancer came back…” And they would show Carrie looking at the picture of the four of them on the rooftop lovingly. But I think the writers and HBO wanted to hold out for Kim Cattrall possibly coming back… And they didn’t know Willie Garson was going to die, which happened far too quickly for them to be able to film a proper goodbye for Stanford. Ultimately, I don’t think anyone is going to be happy with the way they did things. One person will want it one way, Big lives, and they live happily ever after. Another person is happy to see him go and her move on with her life and possibly Aidan. There’s no pleasing anyone anymore. Nevertheless, I agree with a lot of these moments. 🥂
Hate watching got us a 3rd season...god help us
I’m not sure if it was just me, but in the last episode during the dinner party when Carrie asks people to go around & say what they’re letting go of - her answer sounded like a message to the viewers. “Expectations, letting go of expectations.” She describes that she’s specifically talking about expecting things to go how we want them to & letting go of that.
The dialogue felt out of place & very poignant. It seemed very intentional to me & especially meant for viewers.
Now I know boycotting this was the right call. Thank you.
Did Miranda have to suddenly be gay because the actor in real life is? Anyone who knows the show knows Miranda was the least gay of all of them.
I feel like Steve deserved better.
