In Conversation with Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese: Palestine - Education Destroyed

Education Above All Youth Advocates hosted a webinar to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Following the conflict in Gaza since October 2023 and the continuing encroachment of the West Bank and East Jerusalem, the webinar focused on the often-underrepresented topic of Palestinians’ rights to education in the context of its systematic destruction by the occupying forces and the deafening indifference in the wider geopolitical sphere. Since the beginning of this conflict, Palestinian children and youth have been denied access to their education for over a year, in the most extreme ways, which will have a profound, devastating, and lasting effect on them, their families, and their communities and impact any realistic opportunities for peace in the region. This dialogue sought to address and clarify these issues, offer insights on pathways to potential solutions, and raise awareness of this issue for the purposes of legal accountability.
